I wear jeans with rips in. They didn't have rips when I bought them though and are about 12yrs old but I love 'em Grin

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/07/2017 21:46

They look OTT... but to be honest if you can't look OTT and think you look bloody awesome when you're 4/5 - when the fuck can you? My girls have the rest of their lives to be squashed down into being respectable and not wearing stuff that'll incur the wrath of the MN style police - so fuck it if wearing a big rainbow bow in their ponytail makes them happy at the moment

A good point well made but which seems to be difficult to grasp for some.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 31/07/2017 22:21

HD I don't get the link between JoJo bows and Professor Umbridge. Confused

BeccaAnn · 31/07/2017 23:29

those bows are just hideous things. tacky all over.

Badhairday1001 · 01/08/2017 00:22

I'm a teacher who works in a school that hasn't banned JoJo bows. From my own personal experience, children that wear the bows are equally as lovely, well behaved and polite as those that don't.
I would be more worried about the influence of some parents snobby attitudes than a bow.

AlexanderHamilton · 01/08/2017 00:34

I don't like them because I can't stand anything to do with that awful dance moms programme (& dd was bullied by someone on the uk version)

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 01/08/2017 05:54

Boudicca DD is aware that they're called JoJo bows, but had no idea who JoJo was, and has never watched reality TV.

WeDoNotSow · 01/08/2017 07:52

Why are where so many dickheads on here?

MaisyPops · 01/08/2017 07:57

I really dont like jojo bows. Theyre on my lost along with silly massive headbands for baby girls.
But I wouldn't make a personality judgement from them. I just think they look ridiculous.
I wore some equally ugly tat in the 90s (velvet alicebands emblazoned with child's name in glitter?? Bright orange Kappa popper trousers? Shudder).
Same. Those headbands with names on them Blush
I used to have the poppers undone up to the knee because that was 'cool'.
Silly stretchy chokers that are back in fashion.
Lots of little coloured glittery butterfly clips in every damn colour.

We looked ridiculous but it was harmless.

GreenTulips · 01/08/2017 09:06

Who remembers these?

They look ridiculous and are overpriced but my 5yo DD thinks they are marvellous, when she got her first one the look on her face when she saw her reflection with it in was bloody priceless, she loves them, it is her head and her pocket money, all the girls in her class have them so why shouldn't she join in. It's a phase, something else will come along in the next school year I am sure, just like fidget spinners, yoyos and everything else - I mean does anyone still look for pokemons???

Jeez some of the things I wore in the 80's and 90's make my toes curl now - especially my shaggy perm so I looked like a member of Bon Jovi Shock

MaisyPops · 01/08/2017 10:40

I do green!
I had about 3 or 4 different ones. Blush

MsRinky · 01/08/2017 11:29

my 44 year old self wore flowery cat ears as part of a fancy dress costume at a festival last weekend and had a constant stream of girls and women between the ages of 5 and 65 admiring them and wanting to know where I'd got them. Decorating your head is fun!

reuset · 01/08/2017 12:35

I'd forgotten about those, Tulips!

2014newme · 01/08/2017 12:39

Tacky chavvy and look ridiculous

I'm not spending the ridiculous amount of money for Jo-Jo bows for my darling 3 year old to lose. I am however happy for her to chose the cheap ones from the the high street and not break my heart when they fall out her ludicrous baby hair and disappear. Her head is not big enough for one of those massive bows and she doesn't have enough hair to hold them anyway.

Arealhumanbeing · 01/08/2017 13:00

How can some of you be so unkind?!

'Pregnant before GCSEs'! Shock

To little girls they're just giant hair bows.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/08/2017 13:02

I saw a girl of about 10 this morning with a white sparkly one. She looked pretty and happy and was splashing through puddles with her wellies.

Every single one who has said these bows are tacky, chavvy , ridiculous or any other pejorative description is a disgrace.

You (general you) disgust me. You are really quite pathetic - bigging yourselves up by making offensive and disparaging remarks about children.

squoosh · 01/08/2017 13:04

They look silly but if they bring joy to a little girl who the heck cares?! Kids have a lifetime ahead of them to dress in a muted palette of camel and taupe so let them embrace the silly when they're young. I think the people who are opposed to them are probably terrified someone will assume their child is working class. However if you carry a placard around stating you buy your victuals at Waitrose and your (Hideously patterned) frocks from Boden this would combat any erroneous assumptions that may be made.

Lass, the op asked if people thought they were tacky or chavvy. Some people have said yes they do. Thus answering the op's question

Yup.

And 2014 many posters on here have gone much further than that. Also "just answering the question" when using that language, doesn't make the person who answers that way any less of a crashing, sneery snob.

They're tacky, but if you can't get away with being tacky at 5 - when can you? If I was a five year old I'd be all over them :) kids are kids and I think all the girls I've seen wearing them look really sweet. I do feel sorry for the younger children (age 2-3) wearing MASSIVE, head-chomping bows though - they look uncomfortable! A younger child should definitely have a littler bow than a big one!

reuset · 01/08/2017 14:28

I bet if Boden brought out a range the arsehole bunch on here would be all over them because they wouldn't be in danger of catching working class then.

Yuk, yes. The class theory is interesting, though. Desperately trying to distance themselves from anything potentially lower class, but the comments they're coming out with giving quite the opposite impression. (hint: middle classes don't use words like 'chavvy' Wink )
