There has always been loads of crazes that I'm sure older generations hated. Leg warmers, what were they all about? It's not like we had cold legs and in hindsight they looked ridiculous, but hey we all wore them. Grin

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 30/07/2017 08:00

Tean1 the DC's school has had to put rules in place regarding them. They must be in school colours, a single colour (no patterns) and worn at the back of the head so's not to distract in class. Luckily, DD has never expressed a desire to wear one. 😂

batteriesgone · 30/07/2017 08:05

Jojo with the bow bow Confused is how the mojo describes herself.

www.playpennies.com/features/jojo-bows-cool-as-or-no-no-170510

here some hilarious replies from mums about jojobows being banned at schools.

'They attend school to be educated, certainly not to be treat like they are in the army!'

"Why on earth ban them??? What effect do they have on a child's learning. The world has gone mad"

"Why would a school ban hair bows !!! They don't affect childrens education in any way . In fact a happy child will learn . So if it makes our kids happy what's the problem ."

"they better not bloody ban them!!! "

"Our school has banned them Shock'

"Our school has a plain red or white bobble policy no bows clips ect it sucks"

Sorry yes, the bows are not smart at all and mums being up in arms about their school bannig them are utterly ridiculous. IMO

Mum2OneTeen · 30/07/2017 08:14

Meh! Who cares! They're silly & fun; there are much worse things to worry about for small humans. Next year it will be another fad.

Mothervulva · 30/07/2017 08:20

Just been googling these bows, have definitely seen them about. Can't believe Jojo is 14! She must've made a mint from this venture.

I'm sure we all wore 'fashions' our parents didn't think much of (remember the t-shirts that changed colour with heat and rara skirts)
Girls like them, they are a big bow on a clip, perspective is needed here.

MysweetAudrina · 30/07/2017 08:41

My dd 9 doesn't own one item of girls clothing. She will only wear clothes purchased from the boys section in shops. She asked for a jojo bow one day and I was so delighted I bought her 5. She only wore them for a couple of weeks though as someone in her class commented negatively on her wearing It and sniggered with her friends at her. Said girl was also wearing one. Luckily I live in Ireland though and we don't have the same preoccupation with class that seems to exist in the UK. Thankfully the term chav is not used to describe little girls whatever they choose to wear.

DonaldStott · 30/07/2017 08:45

Tacky AF

steff13 · 30/07/2017 08:47

Jojo bows aren't as much of a thing in my part of the States, which is funny as Jojo is American.

Not here in Ohio, either. I've never seen a JoJo Bow in the wild; I've only heard of them on MN. My daughter starts first grade in a month or so, I guess we'll see then if the craze has caught on here yet. And if she wants them, of course we'll buy them. They're just hair bows.

BusyBeez99 · 30/07/2017 08:59

Just googled them. Awfully American and a bit chavvy

Like those ones people put on babies heads too......don't do it

They're ridiculous IMO.

HoneyDragon · 30/07/2017 09:27

Awfully American and a bit chavvy

Omg. The stuff being said in here so much more offensive than the actual hair bows.

TheFairyCaravan · 30/07/2017 09:30

The only thing that irks me about JoJo, and it's not her fault, is her mother is marketing her as some sort of anti bullying figure. That would be the same mother who was the biggest bully of them all when she was on Dance Moms.

coldcanary · 30/07/2017 09:37

They're tacky and expensive. My DD's have one each Grin. They can have another if they save up their pocket money and buy them themselves!
Actually I have a pic somewhere of my nan from around 1913/14 with a bow in her hair big enough to double up as a pair of wings. One gust of wind and she would have taken off.. they were a very upright, deeply religious working class family - it was just the fashion at the time, just like Jojo bows are.
Anyway I'm another one who did ridiculous things to her hair as soon as I was old enough (banana clips, I looked like I had a horse's mane down the back of my head!) I remained very much Not Pregnant until my mid 20's.

Buddah101 · 30/07/2017 09:39

Ive lived through a few decades now and have seen quite a few more ridiculous fads than a bow - I wore bottle caps in my shoes in the 80's, would dress in bright neon clothes and begged my mum for a neon yellow paid of knee socks to go with my black skirt and bib n braces.

I wore purple and green hair mascara and had a lime green satin dress That I adored.

A bow is nothing compared to what I put my mother through - although I only recently learnt these bows are actually called after a young girl who I watched being interviewed by eamonn and ruth on this morning - if you havent watched it please do. Most embarrassing introduction ever.

Lyricaldancer · 30/07/2017 09:43

I didn't know she was supposed to be some sort of anti bullying figure, but that is true, the mother was quite dreadful to any mother/child in the Dance Moms programme seen as a threat in terms of talent and competition to her daughter.

Apparently JoJo (or her mother) lost some respect as they left the programme after refusing to complete the ballet duet, ballet not being JoJo's strong point and her mother thought they were trying to make her look bad.

PodgeBod · 30/07/2017 09:58

Jess wasn't an angel on dance moms but do you remember when Kira mocked Jojo's lisp? I thought she was quite restrained then.

Lyricaldancer · 30/07/2017 10:05

I didn't see that. Kira is Kalani's mother isn't she.

Jess was particularly jealous of (struggling to remember the name, will look it up) Brynn, a newcomer with a talented child, and directed some nasty comments about her to her mother and in front of the child.

I don't really like them , but I'm old and they are not meant for me.

If my dd wanted one that'd be fine , kids fashion is supposed to be fun , experimental and even silly. Girls will have years of being expected to dress is certain ways when they grow up. Let them have fun with accessories while they can.

Billben · 30/07/2017 10:57

Chavy and tacky. Thank goodness my two daughters have never been interested in them

IncyWincyGrownUp · 30/07/2017 10:58

The bows are common, insofar as they're everywhere!

The school my lot are at don't allow the huge ones to be worn, though the smaller variants are ok. All to be removed for PE as you'd expect.

My main bugbear about them is that in our local accent they're 'jer jer bers' which makes me wince.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 30/07/2017 11:06

For the love of god it's a bow...and all the girls wanted them if it makes them happy who cares I can't say I care either way..my girls had them, got bored of them, moved on!
