Just that really, taking the kids to see Captain Underpants at the cinema this afternoon and am wondering if I can read a book using the kindle app on my phone? Or will the light annoy people? I would still have it turned off so it won't ring or anything.

My youngest is only 5 so I feel he's still a bit small to sit in the cinema without an adult while I sit in the cafe in the foyer, which would have been my number one choice.

Of course it will annoy people.

monkeysox · 29/07/2017 11:15

Yabu teach the kids how to behave in the cinema.
It will do you good!

GeillisTheWitch · 29/07/2017 11:15

YABU, the light will be annoying. I feel your pain though, I've promised DD we will see the Emoji movie soon .

jmh740 · 29/07/2017 11:16

Very annoying

OnionKnight · 29/07/2017 11:16

It would piss me off, a light in a dim room would be obvious.

Whisky2014 · 29/07/2017 11:16

Don't be that person. You know it's unreasonable.

amnesty124 · 29/07/2017 11:16

yabu- i always use it as an excuse to catch up on sleep!

CockacidalManiac · 29/07/2017 11:17

Sitting through shit films is one of those things that you do as a parent. It's only a couple of hours, and you need to model how you behave in a cinema.

GinAndToast · 29/07/2017 11:17

I have done occasionally when it's been a crap kids film and the cinema has been practically empty and I've been at the back so nobody can see anyway, or be disturbed by the low light screen.

With a busy cinema though, it's obvious and distracting.

Alicia555 · 29/07/2017 11:17

Yabu if there are people sat behind you they will see the glare from the kindle screen which is really distracting. You never know you might like captain underpants!! Smile

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 29/07/2017 11:17

Yes you are being hugely unreasonable and teaching your kids poor manners. Just suck it up for an hour and a half.

PickleSarnie · 29/07/2017 11:17

Incredibly unreasonable. Fair enough the kids probably won't care but there will be adults that not only have to endure Captain Underpants but they also have to out up with you on your phone.

BarbaraBitchFace · 29/07/2017 11:18

Yes annoying I'm afraid and no one would know you were reading just think you were surfing the net or texting.

Enjoy the film! I find kids films a nice time to switch off, relax and go into my own little world in my head. Grin

teaandakitkat · 29/07/2017 11:18

teach the kids how to behave in the cinema
Usually I just sleep. I just wondered if I could get away with something more interesting. But I won't. Pretty unanimous verdict.

RainbowPastel · 29/07/2017 11:18

You would be massively unreasonable to do it. People pay to watch the film not the light from your phone. I can't believe you are even considering it.

bigbluebus · 29/07/2017 11:19

Phone screen lights in a cinema are extremely distracting to others. YABU - sorry.

ConstanceCraving · 29/07/2017 11:19

A woman kept checking fb the other week a few seats in front of me. Really rude and distracting. Don't do it.

RiverTam · 29/07/2017 11:20

Yes, very unreasonable.

Oliversmumsarmy · 29/07/2017 11:20

YADBU. We have all sat through crap films it is part of being a parent.

MrsRaymondReddington · 29/07/2017 11:20

You usually sleep?? Confused

itstoolateforthisbollox · 29/07/2017 11:21

This may explain why so many kids talk through films, kick the back fo my seat, and one occasion lean over several times to try and steal my kids sweets!
The parents are asleep or glued to their damn phones, explains it all!

DJBaggySmalls · 29/07/2017 11:21

There's an announcement before the film asking you to switch off your screens. That's phones and tablets. They really ruin the film for other people.

zippey · 29/07/2017 11:22

Even if you sit at the back, a light shining in a cinema is obvious. I would hate you for it.

llangennith · 29/07/2017 11:22

Put on a happy face and join in the fun with your DC. It's only two hours out of your life you old miseryguts.

RestingBitchFaced · 29/07/2017 11:22

Very unreasonable and if you were sitting in front of me I would ask you to turn it off
