Ok so I knew this guy at school and also at a club type thing (think scouts but different). He always annoyed me, I hated having to take orders from him as he was 'higher up' I would argue and get told off.. anyway, I moved away and a few years later it's in the news that he has committed crimes against under aged girls, between the ages of 14 and 16. I was shocked but I always thought he was creepy.

Vicar accused of sexually assaulting underage boys.
Teacher accused of sexually assaulting underage boys.
Another teacher accused of... you see where this is going.

Have known a couple of blatant shoplifters among retail colleagues. And SIL stole a shedload of money from work but wasn't charged as the company didn't want the publicity.

As it happens I do know something similar, however it is none of my business, and I think your post is really unpleasant.

Ahickifromkinicki · 28/07/2017 21:11

Just because OP thought he was creepy doesn't mean she had suspicions about him Hmm

ReinettePompadour · 28/07/2017 21:12

Really lovely chap I went to school with, he was in the cadets/boys brigade type groups and scouts. He helped run the local youth clubs and helped with DofE expeditions etc and was always in the paper for his local charity work. Everyone loved him and every girl I knew had a crush on him.

Roll on 20 years and he was in the paper/news for being convicted of child abuse and a paedophile over a 25 year period (that would be during the time I knew him). He got 15 years in prison apparently. His wife was employed in a position of trust too and she lost her job because of him. To this day she doesn't believe he did anything wrong and neither does anyone who knew him all those years ago. I was completely shocked by it. I always thought I would have a feeling about that sort of person but I got nothing at all from him. He was always so lovely and helpful.

It just goes to show that you never know people at all. He would have been the last person I ever suspected. The evidence was overwhelming too.

VladmirsPoutine · 28/07/2017 21:13

So...you had suspicions about him that you didn't report and now you want to rubberneck at over people's tragedies? You're a fucking charmer, OP.

What exactly was the OP going to report? The fact that she found some man annoying and disliked taking orders from him, thus making him a Paedophile. Confused

Bloke1976 · 28/07/2017 21:14

Met this wonderful woman one day. She seemed perfect in every way.

Then... without any notice.... she stole my heart.

Still happily married today.

Cue the passing if sick bags. Grin

Person I used to babysit for, attempted to murder his wife with a knife and was then chased by police and helicopters into the nearby woods.

I'm friends with women who's partners are inside. I wouldn't even want to list the crimes one of them did, he was on the front page of the fail once for his antics in jail.

MamaHanji · 28/07/2017 21:21

Went to junior school with a Muslim boy from Pakistan. He was really friendly and everyone liked him. His parents were super strict and if he didn't pass his 11+ he was to be sent back home to Pakistan to join the army. So the school made a massive point of appealing even though there was no was he could have passed. Anyway he was really lovely and stayed in England and went to a grammar school.

Saw a few years ago in the news that he, his brothers and his dad, after his dad cheated on his mum and she divorced him, they cut off her head and limbs in an honour killing...

Complete indoctrination. He really was such a lovely boy when we were young. Confused

feral · 28/07/2017 21:22

Boy I was at school with and always liked smothered his girlfriend's baby to death (he was not the father) - saw it on the news years later. Sad

Our milkman went to prison for abusing young boys. Some of those kids he used to have 'helping' him on his round. He was our milkman for years in the 80s but we read about his conviction in the paper in the nineties after we had moved away from that area.

limon · 28/07/2017 21:23

A guy i was good friends with at school did time for benefit fraud. Also know quite a lot of people who do drugs so basically they are criminals. My first ever boyfriend ended up stabbing someone.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 28/07/2017 21:24

Dinosaur I didn't have a fucking clue, he was just creepy and annoying how was I meant to interpret that at 14 years old?

I meant 18 in th post not 16.

I come from quite an ordinary background. Working class but mum is a professional. Our family have never been involved with police etc.

One family friend (we were incredibly close to) has recently gone down for historical child sex offences. Always thought of them as weird but the rest of the family were/are lovely. Never suspected anything so horrendous though.

Another family friends daughter got done for drug dealing and prostitution.

A more recent friend, but someone I was very close to, got sent down for fraud. They conned family out of £100,000 plus. Unknown to me, some of the money was spent on gifts for me and mu family . I felt sick when the news broke.

All 3 were in prison at the same time and I did question my ability to chose friends.

GinAndSonic · 28/07/2017 21:25

Guy I've known my entire life, since nursery, who lives near my parents still, and has been in the garden to help out and spoken to my kids, has just been jailed for 17years for raping a boy the same age as my son.
Never suspected a thing. That's not to say I don't beleive it, I 100% do and frankly he can rot.

putdownyourphone · 28/07/2017 21:26

One of my besties at school is now the leader of a notorious racist political party and has been arrested for racial hatred. They weren't the slightest bit racist in school!!

putdownyourphone · 28/07/2017 21:26

Sorry, deputy leader.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 28/07/2017 21:27

Just to add he was in the same year group as me at school. So basaiclly an annoying boy from school. Should we all report annoying boys as pervs?

OP posts:
zukiecat · 28/07/2017 21:30

A boy at school well known for being "trouble", a year or two above me

Murdered a nun, it was absolutely horrific Sad

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips · 28/07/2017 21:30

'Lovely' single dad colleuge whose role involved working with very vulnerable people convicted of paedophilia. Groomed and raped is own daughters friends, who were by all accounts infatuated with him.

PickAChew · 28/07/2017 21:31

A mother (not in this country) who got her autistic kids into a fantastic school. Turned out she'd embezzled a 6 figure sum from the company she worked for to pay for it :(

Lucyccfc · 28/07/2017 21:31

My Doctor went to prison for being a serial killer.

Tofutti · 28/07/2017 21:32

MamaHanji

Your post is very ignorant and him being a Muslim was irrelevant. There is nothing in Islam about honour killings and beheading women who divorce their husbands. So it's not indoctrination of Islam. In Islamic law the man would have been found guilty of adultery and his wife granted a divorce.

fleshmarketclose · 28/07/2017 21:32

A man who, as a boy, played out with my younger siblings murdered his wife.

VestalVirgin · 28/07/2017 21:33

Should we all report annoying boys as pervs?

Oh, no, not at all.
In fact, dinosaursandtea would be the very first to yell "sexism!" if you did that.

You are not allowed to voice any distrust or discomfort you feel about any male at all.

But if a girl or woman is raped, you WILL be blamed for not having reported the rapist before.

Don't worry about dinosaurs, he's just a misogynist. No one to take seriously.
