Ok so I knew this guy at school and also at a club type thing (think scouts but different). He always annoyed me, I hated having to take orders from him as he was 'higher up' I would argue and get told off.. anyway, I moved away and a few years later it's in the news that he has committed crimes against under aged girls, between the ages of 14 and 16. I was shocked but I always thought he was creepy.

The P.E. teacher at my very religious school - a major "man of god", always pontificating with some bigotry or other - caught making obscene phone calls to minors Confused

x2boys · 28/07/2017 21:34

AccrualIntentions · 28/07/2017 21:35

Someone at an old job who was jailed for voyeurism including installing hidden cameras in changing rooms, toilets, etc. With a bit of possessing indecent images of children thrown in for good measure.

Very outing but I have a distant relative who is listed on Interpols most wanted for defrauding the company he was a director of for many millions and fleeing the country (not the uk). He's been on the run for well over a decade now. I'd love to know where he is.

Friend of my best friend's Dad, often round at his house when I was there. Odd but not in a creepy way - more annoying/juvenile type humour despite being in his 30s and married at the time). Friend and I were 14 or 15. One day I mentioned him to my parents in passing and my Dad 'massively overreacted'. A few days later I found out that Dad and a couple of large friends had gone round to this guy's door - he wasn't in and his wife answered the door - and left a message that he was to stay the fuck away from his daughter. I was mortified and furious with my Dad, as this guy had never done anything to me at all, or (to the best of my knowledge) to my friend. I thought for years that Dad had just inexplicably gone off on one, until about 5 years ago - I'm now in my 40s - and read that the guy recently got out of prison, having done 15 years for raping/sexually assaulting underage girls. If Dad was alive I'd apologise to him. I assume he'd heard talk of the guy from somewhere.

X2boys - yes Dr Shipman. We were all hugely shocked as he was so respected and had a waiting list for his surgery.

Guy I went to school with, bit of a character, chip on his shoulder, needs anger management type. Been in and out of prison for robberies.

Friends sister was lovely, friendly lady, stole from her company as her fiancé was in debt. She got community service, but lost her accountancy licence.

Scottishchick39 · 28/07/2017 21:43

Girl I went to school with had a young daughter who was beaten by her partner, rather than seeking medical help she left her daughter alone and she died. They put her body in a bag and threw it in a canal. It's the stuff of nightmares 😥

DimplesToadfoot · 28/07/2017 21:43

I know of lots of people who commit or committed criminal acts, yet have got away with everything ... I shudder at knowing some of them still work with children today, I know what they do and there is nothing I can do to stop them :-(

an ex boyfriend is currently in prison for murdering the woman he dated after me, I think I had a lucky escape

steff13 · 28/07/2017 21:44

I guy I was close friends with from about 7th grade (age 12-ish) was recently arrested, along with his girlfriend, for molesting a 13-year-old girl over a period of a couple of years. He was friends with her parents and they'd let her spend weekends with him and his GF. The parents only found out because the girl got pregnant.

The lady who lives across the street from me robbed some banks. She's elderly, and the news called her "Old Lady Bank Robber." She and her husband have one son, he's in his 40s, and he kept asking them for money. The husband eventually cut him off - this was after they'd given him 10s of thousands of dollars - but he kept asking his mom for the money. Not wanting to go back on her word to her husband, she thought robbing banks would be a good alternative. Once she got caught they paid all the money back, but she still got 9 years in prison.

Being vague but a relative's relative turned out to be a huge crime lord, was done for drugs which looking back, was so bloody obvious (I was too young to know but have since read up on it), also was a huge paedophile, quite possibly a pimp as there were prostitutes around and spy cameras in the flats, lots more stuff and probably worse that we don't know about. We lived in his house as well, makes my skin crawl now. He's now out and relatives have seen him. He has no shame at all.

VestalVirgin · 28/07/2017 21:45

Didn't your dad tell you what he knew about the guy? Or did he do it and you just disbelieved it?

BlueGecko · 28/07/2017 21:46

Not me, but a friend of mine: her dad was having building work done 30 odd years ago in the Forest of Dean area if I recall. My friend met the builder a few times over the course of the work. It was Fred West.

Weebitty · 28/07/2017 21:49

my first boyfriend was very violent... he ended up getting done for murder. I'm so glad I got away from him

BitchQueen90 · 28/07/2017 21:52

A friend of mine's brother is currently in prison for child sexual abuse.

I work with a lot of ex offenders so I know quite a few through that.

x2boys · 28/07/2017 21:55

Bloody hell.Lucy but he did look so respectable ...doesnt bare thinking about.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 28/07/2017 21:57

RE Shipman, my Grandma lived in the area and several of her friends were his victims. She said there had always been rumours about him being extremely arrogant and rather creepy.

Lambzig · 28/07/2017 21:57

A boss I had in my early thirties, very senior executive. He was fine to work with and fair except that he was always complaining about what a bitch his wife was and how much he hated her. I used to roll my eyes and feel sorry for her and imagine he was an awful husband. They had four children and it was clear he di nothing at home.

He approached another colleague who was ex army to help him find someone to kill her for money. Ex army colleague told the police and ex boss was caught in a sting where a policeman masqueraded as a hitman (obviously we found this out later). He was convicted and imprisoned.

I think he seriously thought his money should be able to buy him what he wanted.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 28/07/2017 21:58

Pretty outing, but my uncle was in jail about 15 years ago for espionage. He was a soviet spy and no one in the family had any idea. My dad was Shock

Mammylamb · 28/07/2017 21:59

At work, this young American guy started; he was full of himself and a pain in the arse. However his performance at work never quite matched up to his cv, so he was let go. A few months later he was in the news. He was caught speeding. When the police did a background check he was on the FBI most wanted list for murder back home in Florida

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 28/07/2017 22:02

Guy I went to school with is now in prison for attempted murder after shooting a bloke with a shot gun.

Groovee · 28/07/2017 22:07

Someone I met through a mum's group murdered her child! Was really shocked as we had all lost touch with her.

There was a guy from school sent to prison for chasing someone with axe.

Teacher at school hated any girls! He ended up prison for abuse against boys.

Appraiser · 28/07/2017 22:07

The bully and bitch of our year was involved in the death of her sisters' boyfriend after he was punched by her boyfriend, and hit his head on a car, later dying from his injuries. She was charged with assisting an offender alongside her sister. Both were cleared. The victims family continue to find answers. It's really sad.

NouveauBitch · 28/07/2017 22:08

My ex boss always came across as a bit of a wheeler dealer who would take shortcuts to suit him even if it wasn't entirely legal. I left in the end because we didn't see eye to eye on the way he wanted me to run my cases. Fast forward a few years and the firm went into administration owing over £2.5m - much of it money he'd stolen from client accounts. He spent some time in prison and lost his professional licence before going bankrupt. Quite the fall from grace.
