Spanish grandma en route and friend still in the shop thread #4

Wattyyyy · 28/07/2017 19:51

I can't believe this is the fourth thread.

To summarise: CFN have seemingly done a disappearing act, my friend is now OUTSIDE the shop but still talking to the shop owner man.

I'm waiting on the wine I can see in her hand.

Has friend been at the shop for an hour now?????

PerspicaciaTick · 28/07/2017 21:00

What time does the shop shut?

blueskyinmarch · 28/07/2017 21:00

Quick placemark.

WoofWoofMooWoof · 28/07/2017 21:00

It was terribly inconsiderate of them to do all this so close to the weekend! They should've done it on Sunday/Monday so we didn't have to wait a weekend for updates from the planners Angry.

LakieLady · 28/07/2017 21:01

Madja, we could have a cameo role for Kirstie Allsopp right at the beginning. She could be the estate agent who sold the CFNs their flat, and let them think the garden was shared.

Marking thread although it will probably be 1000 posts by the time I press post

celebrityskin · 28/07/2017 21:02

France here. Will be keeping an eye out for shifty looking holiday makers called Barry and Julie trying to steal our sun loungers!

Chartreuse45 · 28/07/2017 21:03

Hopefully the long chat is gathering loads of personal information. We might need a lot if they have gone for a week (or a fortnight - don't even want to think about it!)

newdaddie · 28/07/2017 21:03

I was told to fuck off this thread but I thought I'd quietly pop back for a cheeky placemark.

BoneyBackJefferson · 28/07/2017 21:03

WoofWoofMooWoof

On the bright side I would expect the CFN to be back tomorrow expecting the work to be complete and expecting to enjoy their new garden.

mummyofmoomoos · 28/07/2017 21:03

foxtrot Maui is part of a MAN legend. Apparently there was once a thread with an entitled Brideszilla who wanted all family to go to Maui and wouldn't accept that it was inconvenient because, well, you know, it's Maui. I think nobody knew what happened at the end, after threads over it. So people might mention it as an example of an unfinished and dissatisfying thread. There was another one about cancelling a cheque, which was the obvious answer to that OP's problem and that everyone kept shouting, to no avail. People mention 'cancel the cheque' when a solution is obvious but the OP doesn't accept it. If I remember correctly. I didn't witness any, just heard about them. So this is a bit of Chinese whispers.

Epic. Just read through four threads. My phone battery has gone from 50% to 19%! OP you are a legend the way you have taken it all in yiur stride. Can't wait for the neighbours to return. Do you think the neighbour on the other side of them might know where they are?

SprinkleOfInsanity · 28/07/2017 21:05

what if the shop owner IS the new CFN, and friend is giving him it full barrels like a smiling assassin?! Shock

My imagination is being over dramatic tonight Grin

LinoleumBlownapart · 28/07/2017 21:05

I don't drink so I'm just on the tonic, but I've just filled myself in by reading the other threads.

My mum's next door neighbours did something similar a few years ago. There was a three story old house above a shop next door, it was bought by a developer who turned it into three flats, he knocked out a window and put in patio doors, not saying it was a roof garden because it was the roof of the back of the shop and my mum's kitchen, but not saying it wasn't one either. It is apparently very common developer trick, it makes it look like there's outside space even when there isn't. The major problem is that the first tenants decided they had a "roof terrace". Her bathroom window looks out onto the roof. She got up to go to the loo one night and found about 30 people having a party outside her bathroom window! Needless to say, there was a court case. It went on for a while, despite no door being shown on the plans, but it's not listed, so I guess not the same.

The door is still there but it cannot be used and my mum was able to build a wall to block access to the roof. The flat is constantly changing tenants because they rent thinking they have a roof garden and then move out when they find out they don't.

One thing is they are lucky they didn't all end up going through the roof. Although by the end of the battle I think my mum was secretly hoping someone would. Grin

I think one of the people in this needs to be played by Olivia Coleman. The nice planning woman perhaps?
