To wonder why the couple sitting next to us don't want their photo taken?

Just being nosey really. Am sitting in a holiday resort waiting for a magic show to start. Cheesy photographer comes round to each table asking to take group photos. I said I would rather not as I got drenched on the way and feel bedraggled but he said 'it's only a bit of fun' and so I relented. He goes to the couple next to us and they firmly said no. He tried to cheeringly talk them into it and they said it was inappropriate to ask them why not but they have a good reason why he can't take it. Am now curious! Am thinking witness protection?! Epilepsy?! I know it is their right to say no, but it sounded like there was a serious reason behind them saying no. Any ideas as to what it might be?!

Because they don't want to be pressurised into buying a photo they don't want?

I really, really hate this sort of selling.

astoundedgoat · 28/07/2017 19:35

Because he'll be back in 10 minutes making a hard sell for them to buy his photos of them, and they don't want to be guilted into buying a crap photo when they just wanted to watch the show.

TheNewSchmoo · 28/07/2017 19:35

I hate having my photo taken and wouldn't buy it. I'd say no too. No exciting drama I'm afraid.

araiwa · 28/07/2017 19:36

when they say no they mean no

Good on em

VeryButchyRestingFace · 28/07/2017 19:36

They hate getting their photo taken?

Sounds like a good reason to me (photophobe)!

PenguinOfDoom · 28/07/2017 19:36

I would refuse too.

chickenowner · 28/07/2017 19:37

I would also say no.

  1. I don't really like having my photo taken.
  1. I don't want to buy a photo.
  1. I don't want my image to be used on promotional material.
AnnieOH1 · 28/07/2017 19:37

Aren't there some faith groups that don't agree with photography?

I'm a photophobe though. You recall Chandler in that episode with the engagement photograph? That's me! Xx

BasedOnTrueEvents · 28/07/2017 19:38

Because they know he'll be round again in 10 minutes giving his shit photos the hard sell. I'd say no too.

upperlimit · 28/07/2017 19:38

Don't want a hard sell.
Having an affair and don't want photo evidence.
Vampires.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 28/07/2017 19:38

Because they are too polite to tell him to get to fuck.

OnionKnight · 28/07/2017 19:38

I'd refuse too, absolutely hate having my photo taken.

wrinkleseverywhere · 28/07/2017 19:39

I would refuse too. That means he won't try to pester me into buying it and hopefully a firm refusal on day one means I wouldn't get asked for the rest of the holiday.
In what way is it "a bit of fun"? It is a business.

HeartburnCentral · 28/07/2017 19:40

They're on a secret holiday together. They are having an affair and the woman is married. They are afraid of being 'outed' on social media. Grin
I RL they don't want their photo taken and said no politely.

kickingwillow · 28/07/2017 19:41

They are off work sick and shouldn't be on holiday and don't want any evidence of there deviant behaviour.
Or having an affair.
Or just don't want to buy a shit photo.

kickingwillow · 28/07/2017 19:41

their

Aquamarine1029 · 28/07/2017 19:42

I have always refused these photo attempts. It infuriates me when you tell someone no for any reason, but especially when it's a stranger, and then they keep pushing or expect you to justify why you've said no. I, nor anyone else, has to explain the reasoning to anybody!

echt · 28/07/2017 19:42

They are the CFN listed building vandals and want no (further) publicity.:o

KeepServingTheDrinks · 28/07/2017 19:43

Their names are Barry and Julie? (see patio doors/private garden threads)

Trills · 28/07/2017 19:43

The amusing answer is that they don't want anyone to know they are there together.

More likely, they just really hate the hard sell that you get with these people and want to be left alone.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 28/07/2017 19:43

Cross posted echt. You got there before me!

LordPercy · 28/07/2017 19:43

Just back from Spain and refused to get our photo taken too. Between 5 iPhones, 3 cameras and 1 video camera I think we have enough photos without some random trying to get us to buy their photo. I hate getting my photo taken anyway, especially by some cheesy holiday photographer....it's not the 1950's any more Hmm

BabychamSocialist · 28/07/2017 19:44

Are they wearing very old clothes and not eating much? If so, they might be ghosts.

kickingwillow · 28/07/2017 19:48

Babycham wins !

FluffyPineapple · 28/07/2017 19:49

Because they don't want to be pressurised into buying a photo they don't want is my guess? I wouldn't agree to have my photo taken by some photographer while on hols either....My iphone is capable of taking pics I want... Am I weird??
