To wonder why the couple sitting next to us don't want their photo taken?

Just being nosey really. Am sitting in a holiday resort waiting for a magic show to start. Cheesy photographer comes round to each table asking to take group photos. I said I would rather not as I got drenched on the way and feel bedraggled but he said 'it's only a bit of fun' and so I relented. He goes to the couple next to us and they firmly said no. He tried to cheeringly talk them into it and they said it was inappropriate to ask them why not but they have a good reason why he can't take it. Am now curious! Am thinking witness protection?! Epilepsy?! I know it is their right to say no, but it sounded like there was a serious reason behind them saying no. Any ideas as to what it might be?!

I HATE that, anything with forced participation just ruins it for me. There shouldn't be any pressure to do this sort of thing, it is meant to be fun!

Monny · 28/07/2017 19:50

They're either spies, having an affair, or didn't want their photo taken (and were firm about it with a salesman).

*My gut feeling is that they were spies

Mumzypopz · 28/07/2017 19:51

Adopted child?

histinyhandsarefrozen · 28/07/2017 19:51

We always say no- it's saving them time coz we're not going to buy.

Sirzy · 28/07/2017 19:51

The only time I agree to things like this is when on a cruise so I am normally looking halfway decent and they don't do the "big sell" to buy them.

When I go to other places they do it I say no as I have no intention of buying so no point wasting everyone's time!

histinyhandsarefrozen · 28/07/2017 19:52

They think the camera steals their soul?

HatieCockpins · 28/07/2017 19:54

Some Muslims don't allow themselves to be photographed for religious reasons.

MirandaWest · 28/07/2017 19:55

I'd say no. I say no when you walk into an attraction and they take photos. I'm not going to want to buy it so what's the point?

tarheelbaby · 28/07/2017 19:55

The same reason they don't want to buy a f**king rose from the gypsy and wish the proprietor had the balls to send him/her packing.

LostAllTheWords · 28/07/2017 19:55

Maybe they faked their deaths Ina camping accident?

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/07/2017 19:55

their names are Barry and Julie? Grin

FluffyPineapple · 28/07/2017 19:55

What's your reasoning about an adopted (adult) child Mumzypopz? I have 2 adopted children......I don't object to them having their photo taken......(Depending on circumstances of course!) I cant think of any reason why an adult "adopted child" would refuse - except in the circumstances that anyone else would refuse??

LostAllTheWords · 28/07/2017 19:55

*cannoing ffs

LostAllTheWords · 28/07/2017 19:56

Canoeing even

Lillygreen · 28/07/2017 19:59

Maybe they are famous Shock

Dibbles1967 · 28/07/2017 20:00

I would refuse. None of the pictures I've ever had taken look anything like I thought I looked, & subsequently depress me.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 28/07/2017 20:04

Fluffy my DSis & BIL would refuse to have their son photographed if it was one of those resorts that publishes a random selection of the photos either on a screen at the purchase point, on FB to show what a jolly time everyone has there or just around in general.

They once had a very near miss with DNephew's birth grandmother (they were both on the same holiday park Shock) and, even though they'd never go there again, they are more careful than ever now.

lalalalyra · 28/07/2017 20:08

I always refuse to have my photo taken because it inevitably comes with a hard sell. Plus a lot of the time it's the same photographer at hte magic show as it is at other shows and if you give in once they'll assume you'll give in again I find.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 28/07/2017 20:09

Boss & Secretary - they're on holiday instead of the boring conference they've told their partners they're on. The suntan will give them away when they return to the UK. They'll be freaked out that something catastrophic has happened because it's now winter in the UK...

Or you could just ask them 🤣

Mummadeeze · 28/07/2017 20:09

They really don't look famous, but I guess they might be! I don't think it was just because of the hard sell because the man eventually said to the photographer he would tell him privately why they couldn't participate (as he was being quite pushy). I don't think they are for sale either, I think they might be using them for publicity though. The vampires suggestion made me laugh!

What chicken said.

Cakeorchocolate · 28/07/2017 20:11

They could just not want to. Or they could be foster or adoptive family that can't for legal reasons.

BingoFlamingos · 28/07/2017 20:12

Don't want a hard sell I assume?
But equally I spent a very long time not having any kind of photo taken where it would possibly go online, no resorts, no clubs, pubs festivals etc. exDP was an abusive nutjob and I was a bit worried about him turning up in random places after he turned up in uni lectures/ at my work/ at my friends houses/ anywhere else I was. I was scared all the time. It was awful.

Mummadeeze · 28/07/2017 20:12

Okay, they just tried to sell us the photo - doh! Not a hard sell though. This couple look VERY serious though so they might be spies.
