CFN patio doors onto my private garden thread #3

Wattyyyy · 28/07/2017 12:22

Okay I thought I'd start this for when they inevitably show their faces!!

Sorry all the threads have different titles Confused

I have a slight update - I managed to catch the nice neighbour at the other side (I think he'd heard the commotion and was loitering about waiting for me Grin )

He was gobsmacked! Apparently he's lived here for thirty years and has never heard anything like it. I told him I'd keep him updated and he asked if i wanted to come in for a cup of tea, I politely declined hahahah. Glad I now have a nice normal neighbour on my side!

No worries.... I am off to the GP to have my antidepressants altered... this thread has lifted my spirits today.

I'll be back Grin

AcrossthePond55 · 28/07/2017 13:58

Can't you just imagine Julie and Barry sitting down to breakfast in some lovely little cottage in the Cotswolds or Cornwall on their little holiday, Barry picks up the Fail, reads and spits tea all over Julie's new blouse whilst yelling "Holy God, sweetie, we better get home NOW!!!"

PrincessFiorimonde · 28/07/2017 13:58

Grin Grin at gingergenius's fantasy narrative.

gingergenius · 28/07/2017 13:59

Lol @cjt110 I know!!! Just wanted to make sure no-one thought I was trolling 😘

newdaddie · 28/07/2017 14:00

@8misskitty8

My situation was similar except in reverse. My CFN in the basement thought that by blocking off the side access gate and path it would mean the rear garden was his exclusively.

The difference is that I'm a big horrible CFN too not a kindly elderly lady.

Grin

I think a few of the moronic pp will see the sense of the matter better through their rose tinted glasses in your example though.

MarvinKMooney · 28/07/2017 14:01

Bloody hell this is moving fast! Left the house at 11am when it was roughly p6 on thread #2. Now look at it!

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and need to pack - can't be sitting here reading all this. actually I can

Am hoping that there is a couple called Barry and Julie in the cottage next door getting increasingly agitated as the week goes on. Do I tell them that we know?!

Rachel0Greep · 28/07/2017 14:01

OP, I agree, don't touch anything or become personally involved in any way. I suggest though taking advice if necessary so that you don't end up out of pocket over all of this.

instrifeagain · 28/07/2017 14:02

PP mentioned a fire exit, but as all gardens enclosed by buildings, it's not very suitable for a fire exit. If the fire spreads through all the buildings, they would be in the middle of a ring of fire!

You probably have legal advice with your insurance, I'd give them a ring.

Foslady · 28/07/2017 14:02

I'm waiting for the Maui wedding to be over and the BBQ (using your new BBQ) in the garden with all the family and friends who couldn't join them.......

I have to say though, six listed flats, built around an inner courtyard, with gardens for only four of them, but for the two without gardens tantalising glimpses of Gardens of Eden through overlooking windows? It was always a recipe for disaster. In fact, it's almost a set up. Who is the freeholder? Could it be a Mumsnetter? Purchased the listed building years ago, converted it in to weirdly laid out flats, with an evil plan to trigger the CFN thread to end all threads. MNFreeholder has been waiting years for this to happen. She's reading this unfolding drama, wearing a monocle, stroking her white Persian cat that's on her lap, and bwahahaing out load and whispering 'Ah, Barry and Julie, you have made me very happy, veeerrry happy indeed'.

annielouise · 28/07/2017 14:04

Barry is great, in my mind her name is Juney though (as in June)
Barry & June

I'm now going to refer to them as Barry and Julie Grin

NNDN (nice next door neighbour) is tinkering about with something on his wall on the other side, but I can also hear footsteps and other noises, but can't tell where they are coming from?? Does the glass against the wall thing work or is that only in cartoons?!

I'm not going OUTSIDE, now that they might actually be there I don't want to speak to them ahhhh oh goodness Shock

I also agree, don't touch anything. Also I would say they might not have had plans to use the garden, just to have doors opening onto it, as the ops house had them and they thought it looked nice.

Although to be honest, anyone who is daft enough to cut a whopping hole in the side of a listed building and insert upvc patio doors, probably was planning on using it.[twats]

Wish they would come home. Op I'd also not email them, I'd let the planners deal with it now.

TipTop333 · 28/07/2017 14:07

Glass, pressed ear, do what you must!

GriseldaChop · 28/07/2017 14:07

Ohh! Looks like I came back at the right time! I've been telling my son he needs a nap since 11am so I could read the latest! He's just gone to sleep now!

Foreverhopeful22 · 28/07/2017 14:08

I'd be siting in the garden !!! Waiting.

You have done nothing wrong

Plus it's your garden! Don't be afraid to use it .

ASDismynormality · 28/07/2017 14:08

watt. If they approach you just keep repeating 'it's out of my hands'.

WaaWaaWaaa · 28/07/2017 14:08

Woohoooo! Love you OP, love the planning department CANT WAIT for CFN's to come home!!!

Oh to be a fly on the wall... or the door. As you were...

AuroraFloyd · 28/07/2017 14:09

I'd be sitting in the garden just innocently enjoying my property.

ChrisPrattsFace · 28/07/2017 14:09

So you need mumsnet to sit in your garden on shifts - while you work? I am totally on my way if so!

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 28/07/2017 14:09

I hope they get back before I leave on Holiday Sunday, no idea what the WiFi will be like and my eyes can't take Mumsnet on my phone, half blind old lady here Sad

myusernamewhichisthis · 28/07/2017 14:09

what did the planning peeps say op?? i got to the bit on the other thred where 3 of them turned up with cameras.....

Wattyyyy · 28/07/2017 14:10

forever that is what I was going to do but now I have totally chickened out as it feels more real and I don't know how they're going to react!

I've shifted my sofa round a bit so I can see out into the garden but they can't see me.

There's pacing noises.
