Couldn't remember the title of the last one so thought that'd do!

No sign of them at all, went out and looked through and all the lights are off, definitely not in. WTF IS GOING ON????

Should have added, this also makes it pretty clear who's liable (and what can happen)

MrsMozart · 27/07/2017 23:28

Hope tomorrow goes well OP.

We had all on when we had an end wall painted (Grade II), as some paperwork had been mislaid. That was the same type of paint, same colour same area of wall, yet the hoohah went on for six months.

gingergenius · 27/07/2017 23:29

The level of shit they're in does depend on whether it is a grade 1 or 2 listed building, i think?

MinesaBottle · 27/07/2017 23:31

Yes I think so - DH (an architect and also now totally overinvested in this thread) seems to think that's the case, but confirmed that they will indeed be in some level of shit. Whether it's up to their waists or chins remains to be seen!

SnickersWasAHorse · 27/07/2017 23:33

If they've renovated internally also, which you've suggested they have, then inform the planning officer as if the building is listed EVERYTHING needs to be cleared with planners, down to paint type and colour, tiles, flooring etc.

Not strictly true. It depends on the level of listing.
My folks live in a listen building. They only need permission to make structural changes. They can paint and carpet with impunity.

JustGettingStarted · 27/07/2017 23:34

Not going to get any new information about this until tomorrow.

Dontlaugh · 27/07/2017 23:36

Yes re grade clarity.
Appreciate you want to preserve your privacy OP but it's sounding like a Grade II to me? Could be wrong.

Dontlaugh · 27/07/2017 23:37

Yes Snickers correct, I'm currently nosing about the grading!

Twopeapods · 27/07/2017 23:37

Up to date with the CFN threads tonight.
I'm so Shock
Ooh the planning officer is going to bring a shit storm their way.

Addley · 27/07/2017 23:39

I must've been living under a rock…

There's a law company called Wright Hassall? HmmGrin

InvisibleCities · 27/07/2017 23:40

What an incredibly stupid/entitled-and-stupid thing to do. Ruining part of an old building just to attempt to claim rights over someone else's property. If they wanted a garden they should have bought a flat with a garden.

justilou · 27/07/2017 23:40

OP are you going to call the police if the builders come back for their crap? (Or threaten to if they don't clean up your property (including dust) to your satisfaction???

Dontlaugh · 27/07/2017 23:41

Minesabottle that architect from your link was previously a listed buildings officer before he then went on on private practice to screw up a ......listed building! WTF!

ShmoozernameUsername · 27/07/2017 23:42

Perfect daily fail story, especially if it's in the Home Counties 😄

namechangedtoday15 · 27/07/2017 23:42

Addley I also wonder how that name got through for a legal firm Smile

Addley · 27/07/2017 23:44

Well they've been going 170 years, apparently…

Dontlaugh · 27/07/2017 23:44

Should have been Hassall Wright if they'd their heads screwed on.

Morphene · 27/07/2017 23:46

I think the builders are family and the new door was a surprise house warming gift.

They have done it while the owners are away for maximum impact.

I think different branches of the family will never speak to each other again.....but maybe we can persuade JK to do a special on it?

'Has your brother in law recently blown a hole in the side of your listed building? if so phone our researchers TODAY'

Penny4UrThoughts · 27/07/2017 23:47

Wow, crazy what people think they can get away with!
I'm just upset I'm working tomorrow as there may be another 6 threads by the time I get home..

WiganPierre · 27/07/2017 23:50

I just don't understand how they could be so stupid Confused

IncyWincyGrownUp · 27/07/2017 23:51

I really hope that there's no nastiness from anybody toward you OP. I can imagine that it's going to be quite fraught, but inammkeeping my fingers crossed that everyone manages to not be complete and utter dicks any more.

Kittykatmacbill · 27/07/2017 23:52

morphene ha I wondered that too... lovely house warming gift!"

hmcAsWas · 27/07/2017 23:53

Just where are those pesky neighbours! They must know what's happened and are now horrified / alarmed at their own spectacular cock up (that's what I am going with)

Craftylittlething · 27/07/2017 23:53

Wtf?!! Why did they not just buy a flat with a garden/ yours if it was up for sale at the same time. I'd like to live in a field and never deal with neighbours. Good luck with this

CheeseAndBeans · 28/07/2017 00:03

Blatant placemarking!
