So it could be done and then the flat sold to pay for it?

But who would buy it?

shakingmyhead1 · 27/07/2017 16:08

Back up those photos too OP, builders will tell them you took photos so back them up to a site or email to the planning dude/dudette you spoke too

ItchyFoot · 27/07/2017 16:08

Omfg! How could they think it's ok to do that!?

TheRollingCrone · 27/07/2017 16:09

Sorry. I'm even pretending I'm not a nosey posie. BUT dear God.

The stupid is strong with these ones.

IloveBanff · 27/07/2017 16:09

Which probably explained why they used a shady outfit from 100 miles away as everyone else said no.

Well if everyone else said no, the neighbours couldn't plead ignorance, they'd have been told it was illegal. I'm at a loss as to how they thought they'd get away with it. It's a really odd situation.

Ropsleybunny · 27/07/2017 16:09

My brother owns a shop in town with a small car park at the back. He once spotted a man measuring up for a door out of the next door building, straight onto his land.

It was politely pointed out that it was a waste of time fitting the door as they wouldn't be able to open it. The man appeared to struggle with the concept but it never happened.

I think you're doing the right thing OP, do let us know what planning say.

Steeley113 · 27/07/2017 16:10

Wine think you need this OP!

eddielizzard · 27/07/2017 16:10

wow i'd be fucking fuming! ShockShockShock i hope planning come down on them like a ton of bricks.

RestingBitchFaced · 27/07/2017 16:10

How the hell did they think they were going to get away with it? Beyond stupid 😠

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 27/07/2017 16:11

These are white plastic doors to the real outside world that people with eyes can see immediately

Great quote there from a PP - but how on earth did they think they would get away with it? And destruction of such a lovely sounding window seems to be a travesty.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/07/2017 16:12

As they bought the property recently are you able to find a picture of the window on their rightmove listing/do you have any photos of it?
This might be handy for both the planning people and the freeholder in figuring out just how much damage has been inflicted upon the poor building. Is the old window in a slip or have the cowboys realised the value of it and sold it to salvage by now?

newdaddie · 27/07/2017 16:13

I kind of feel sorry for the CFNs. It must be frustrating watching OP swan around in OPs exclusive massive garden that stretches across several properties.

I can picture them sweating indoors on a hot day while OP merrily dances and frolics past their windows pimms in hand.

harrietm87 · 27/07/2017 16:13

Shameless placemarking - can't believe the cheek!

DadDadDad · 27/07/2017 16:14

ton of bricks

Eddie - I see what you did there. I believe the ton of bricks are already waiting in the garden... Grin

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/07/2017 16:16

Some people believe that if it's their house, they can do whatever they want to it.
They're wrong.

IloveBanff · 27/07/2017 16:16

newdaddie Well I hope the neighbours aren't going accuse the OP of being a GF (goady frolicker) in mitigation. Grin

ohfourfoxache · 27/07/2017 16:17

What utter, utter bastards Angry

Causing such destruction is absolutely unforgivable Angry

RortyCrankle · 27/07/2017 16:18

I'm gobsmacked at their audacity and utter stupidity. I can't imagine how much it will cost them to repair back to the original window and brickwork.

Good luck tomorrow OP.

OrgyofSausages · 27/07/2017 16:18

It is difficult to believe that some people are that dim.....and yet, they are Grin

Good luck OP - this is a great thread!

shakingmyhead1 · 27/07/2017 16:19

if the doors are going to take a while to fix, go to the hardware store get two pieces of re-bar or metal fencing standards
( not sure what you call it in the uk, its long steel bars for using in concrete house foundations)
quite long maybe 1.5m long, and a bag of quick set concrete,
dig two holes ( about .5m deep) one in front of each door, but very close the the actual wall, push in re-bar poles, or fencing standards, and concrete in place, effective way to stop the doors being opened until repairs can be made, easy enough to dig out from your side but impossible from theirs.

Jaxhog · 27/07/2017 16:19

Hopefully, your planning dept will do some enforcement, but they may also just ask the owners to desist and submit a planning application. Unless they've done structural damage, in which case they will be asked to make it safe.

I doubt the planners will care very much about any damage to your garden though. You should at least write a formal letter to the owners telling them they have trespassed and must make good your garden, or (better) get s solicitor to do it.

Tatlerer · 27/07/2017 16:20

Wow, just wow! Wrong on every single level! Did they really expect to get away with it???

Wattyyyy · 27/07/2017 16:20

I don't think I'm going to go round there, although if they wanted to they could now just walk out into my back garden and look straight in to my flat!! I'll be keeping my doors firmly locked!

I had no idea it was a criminal offence! I'm seriously worried that they are going to come round to mine when they get in. The builders must have told them what happened?? If they are the type of people who are so blasé about a situation like this in the first place then I don't imagine they are going to be particularly pleasant to deal with.

And I'm in on my own tonight Confused

I now feel like I have to hide incase they see me, which I won't because it's bloody ridiculous and they are very clearly in the wrong, but still, horrible situation!!!

I am hoping they have seriously just made a mistake, are very apologetic, and put it back to how it was, however, I HIGHLY doubt it.

Stunning. Very stressful for you OP. Is someone with you in RL? They sound like lunatics and it would be nice to have someone there for moral support.
