Unbelievable!

ChasedByBees · 27/07/2017 15:13

Report report report. Don't bother even speaking with them unless it's to tell them you've reported them, expect them to put this right and they are absolutely not to use your garden.

TimeFliesWhenYoureHavingGin · 27/07/2017 15:13

Push one of these against the doors Grin

Cataline · 27/07/2017 15:14

I love that idea TimeFlies!

walkinganhouraday · 27/07/2017 15:15

How long have the neighbours lived there? Could it be that they are new owners as well?

teaandakitkat · 27/07/2017 15:15

We all get so much fun(?) out of these threads but I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this shit op. It must be really stressful.

Monstamio · 27/07/2017 15:15

Cant believe anybody woukd even attempt such a stunt with a listed building. Straight to reporting now I think. Let us know how you get on!

Yamayo · 27/07/2017 15:16

We need an update!!!

StormTreader · 27/07/2017 15:16

Report it right away - the longer its in place, the harder it will be to get anything done about it.

UrsulaPandress · 27/07/2017 15:16

This sort of thing gives me the jeffing rage.

willymcwill · 27/07/2017 15:17

Totally placemarking.... cannot believe these people exist Shock

mantlepiece · 27/07/2017 15:17

I hope the bricks they've knocked out are still there for the reinstatement otherwise you will be left with an awful patched wall.

Hissy · 27/07/2017 15:17

Call the council planners enforcement team now, you need to get advice fast!

bellabasset · 27/07/2017 15:18

Synchnant

If there is an opening window and you replace it with doors which cannot be opened then you could potentially be blocking an exit in case of fire or an emergency was my point.

TimeFliesWhenYoureHavingGin · 27/07/2017 15:19

I would have thought the OP is busy talking to someone at the council, hopefully she'll be back with a full report for us all Grin

Msqueen33 · 27/07/2017 15:19

I vote gardenzilla

FuckyDuck · 27/07/2017 15:19

Call planning department immediately

sweetkitty · 27/07/2017 15:20

So you move into a new flat and spot a nice garden through your kitchen windows and think "that might be communal" but we have no access to it, did the other neighbours jump throught the window? Let's very quickly put some doors in their so we can use the garden!

Bloody idiots.

Hope you get it sorted?

Bluntness100 · 27/07/2017 15:21

I live in a listed building and the work could be done with planning permission, and to a certain standard set by them. I'm going to guess the guy hasn't got it. And as such what he's doing is a criminal offence and he will have to put it back as was.

The builder obviously knew it was wrong. Personally I'd phone the planning department and ask if permission had been sought. I'd then speak to the neighbour and ask the same question or explain that you asked planning also. I'd also then show them it's your garden.

I suspect the neighbour has made a very very expensive mistake. I'd also say don't clean up yet.

BadLad · 27/07/2017 15:22

Spicing up my boring life by vicariously living through your drama, OP.

Wattyyyy · 27/07/2017 15:23

Right I'm just off the phone to planning and they are sending someone round tomorrow. They sounded very concerned. I have also done a bit of digging around on the plannings website and there have been several applications for external work (not by NDN) for flats further along in the same building. It's for things like light fittings and extending a door. All of these applications have next to them "application refused" or "refuse and enforce" so there's not a chance they're going to get away with this.

I'll try to answer all the questions sorry if I miss any!

Yes the doors clearly open outwards in to the garden.

There isn't damage to my garden per se it's just a mess now!

It's those white flimsy cheap looking patio doors that have been put in. It was a lovely (very old) curved sort of window with the black out doors either side (I know there's a name for it, can't remember right now)

I have no idea if they have affected the structure although I wouldn't be surprised. They've destroyed the original brickwork so even if it does need to be rebuilt there's no way this could be used. It's all smashed and broken Angry

AHHH IM FUMING!!!

Windowzilla.... lol.

I hope builders put up an RSJ having taken the window out. The whole building could collapse if it is a load bearing wall OMG.

rosietosey · 27/07/2017 15:24

Oh and thanks all for the explanation of CFN!
