Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Isn't tonight when you were planning to install the chain across your driveway? With padlock. So only you and DH have access?
B&Q are open until 2000 ;-)

wowfudge · 26/07/2017 18:20

There may be nothing technically that the police can do, but the neighbourhood teams are pretty good at sorting this kind of thing out. If you live near a police station I'd be tempted to go down there with a photo of the offending car on your drive and say you'd like them to contact the owner and get it moved as tomorrow you are having bollards fitted and it's in the way.

Squ1ggle · 26/07/2017 18:21

Can't get over the bloody cheek! Shock as pp have said though, don't touch the car itself!

HamletsSister · 26/07/2017 18:21

Have you thought of building an impromptu garage for your new car. Perhaps building it out of bricks?

sparechange · 26/07/2017 18:24

n0tnow
Op says it's a dog groomers...

OP, if the pink car nearest your drive moved, could you move your car to block in CFNE without blocking the road?
Worth asking that car owner to help you out?

mummyofmoomoos · 26/07/2017 18:27

Would definately go with the chain across the drive, they would have to ask you to remove it to get their car, and you might get an apology- would buy one for the other drive too- prevent any more cheeky-fuckery!

SnickersWasAHorse · 26/07/2017 18:28

Could you get a skip delivered for tomorrow morning?

yawning801 · 26/07/2017 18:28

Oops... I meant:
wofifomop Hmm

GoofyIsACow · 26/07/2017 18:28

Oh my god! Is the car still there then and they have fucked off?!

OnTheRise · 26/07/2017 18:29

I've reported the spam. Anyone else?

(Not marking my place in the thread. Not at all.)

JaneEyre70 · 26/07/2017 18:29

Can you rock it so the alarm keeps going off? That way you can report it??

CauliflowerSqueeze · 26/07/2017 18:29

It couldn't take the piss more, could it?
They parked on your drive, refused to move when asked, said they would do in half an hour and then abandons it for hours.

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/07/2017 18:30

Amazon prime.

Parking bollards

Fuck off massive chain with the biggest pad lock ever.

Now!

We used to have people block our driveway but never park on it! Used to drive me crazy - pardon the pun.

We rang 101 once they were marvellous. They ring the owner of the vehicle and tell them to move. If nothing else I'm sure it'd scare them and make it feel officially unlawful to park there.

Also take a photo in case they do in future to keep a log to send to the council.

Good luck resolving this.

jenm87 · 26/07/2017 18:30

i would be tempted to let them know you are doing some work a few cms away from the car so the wheelbarrow might just accidently scrape the car but because you have asked to move it you wont be liable for any damage, or i would be tempted to say you have 5 mins to move it or the window goes in release the handbrake and roll it out the drive. see if that makes them move it haha.

EggysMom · 26/07/2017 18:32

Shame about the local kids who pick a random car to target with eggs ... this time your driveway was the random target ... Wink

Brenna24 · 26/07/2017 18:35

I can't believe they would get a lift home rather than move the car. I would definitely have a chain over the drive by morning at that point. What a shower of arseholes. I would also be leaving a review complaining about the dishonesty and rudeness.

If the neighbour has a Facebook page for her business, I'd msg her saying if the car isn't gone in the next few minutes you & everyone you know will start leaving shitty reviews.

Buy a couple of these costumes online and employ some local teenagers to stand beside the car on your driveway. Grin

Doesitgoto11 · 26/07/2017 18:38

If they've fucked off and left it can you report it as abandoned? Get a lovely police aware sticker on it. And surely it's trespass as pps have said?

I'm not taking my car to work tomorrow if you're in Kent I'll happily come and park across the ignorant twat I've only got a little car, not wide enough to block the road either Wink

rollonthesummer · 26/07/2017 18:38

Can you ring 101 and see what they say, OP?
