Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Dog Groomers

Allabitmuchisntit · 26/07/2017 17:55

Strangers car in your drive = your car on neighbours lawn.

JustDontGetItAtAll · 26/07/2017 17:55

N0NowBwrnard Dog Groomers. OP has already stated this

Imaweeble · 26/07/2017 17:55

How anyone has the nerve to do this is beyond me! A few years ago we lived in a house with the only drive on the street! This caused us so many problems from jealous neighbours...one day I came home and found a neighbours car (it has been sorned) parked badly on our drive! After 3 months I finally managed to get her to move it!! Then when I was a week away from my due date with ds2 another neighbour attacked me because I dared ask her not to swing onto the drive and nearly hit my car!

GreeboIsACutePussPuss · 26/07/2017 17:56

hmm, wouldn't it be a shame for CFN if people were to hear how you had to seek advice as their staff were rude, unhelpful, unable to follow simple instruction, intentionally disregarded your wishes and failed to carry out a task they had agreed to, and how CFN was initially dishonest and has since refused any attempts to communicate and rectify the matter, forcing you to spend (insert price of securing the drive) to prevent any further damage by their actions.

People reading such a review don't need to know the issue is a drive way not a pet do they? Wink

Smilingthru · 26/07/2017 17:57

So has it been left there overnight now???

mogulfield · 26/07/2017 17:58

You seriously need to do something if they've just abandoned it on your drive overnight!

Redglitter · 26/07/2017 17:58

Then the police should arrange for removal?

Are you kidding? Why on earth should the police arrange a removal. It's not a police matter it's annoying for the OP but the police won't get involved.

andbabymakesthree · 26/07/2017 17:58

Put a barracade back up!

LagunaBubbles · 26/07/2017 18:00

It's rude and cheeky to do this in the first place but it takes it to a whole new level that they refused to move when asked!

ManyManyShoes · 26/07/2017 18:01

Placemarking! Park in her drive!

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 26/07/2017 18:03

Many the CFN hasn't got a drive.

OP it's a pity you haven't got access to a crane to move the car to CFN garden. Sad

Redsippycup · 26/07/2017 18:04

I suspect CFN has taken employee home to get burly male support because they are scared to get their car.

Unicorn81 · 26/07/2017 18:04

Wonder if cfne will appear in the dead of night, dressed in black to get the car, perhaps doing some ninja rolls across the lawn. you will have to stay up all night just incase

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 26/07/2017 18:06

If it's going to be there overnight, I'd take the opportunity to clingfilm it.

IgglesGotANewBag · 26/07/2017 18:08

You're stuck with it OP

Points to note:

Under no circumstances would we advocate you merely pushing the vehicle onto a road and leaving it there, as you may commit a number of offences.
Don't damage/clamp the vehicle or have it removed by a third party for destruction or storage without first seeking legal advice. If you do any of these things, you may commit a criminal offence or the owner may pursue a civil action against you.
You may be able to obtain the cost of having the vehicle removed from the owner but you will need to speak to your legal advisor about this.

Lweji · 26/07/2017 18:09

Leave or send them a standard notice that you're not responsible for anything that might happen to the car. They park there at their own risk...

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 18:10

This would probably be a good thread for theDaily Mail and the Wright Show (don't watch so not sure of proper name) to get hold of. Name 'em and shame 'em!!!

Chimchar · 26/07/2017 18:11

Bloody hell.

The cheek of some people!!!

You can check on the DVLA website I think to see if a car is taxed... Worth a look. No tax is a reportable offence!

I actually don't know what I would do if I was in this situation...I really feel for you op.

bridgetreilly · 26/07/2017 18:12

If you're normally out while the car is parked there, I'd just make an arrangement with the neighbour that you're paid for the use of it.

rollonthesummer · 26/07/2017 18:15

I can't believe people can park on someone else's driveway but it's a crime to move it off!

One time, as a prank, we jacked up BIL's car, took off the wheels, laid them flat and lowered the car back on to the wheels. Took 4 of us about 15 mins, didn't damage the car. Bit annoying for BIL Wink
Just saying...
