Longleat Center Parcs, taking £600 a night to be on a 24hr building site! Aaagghh

We are currently staying at Longleat centre parcs. Having saved for this for a year, it's costing an eye watering £600 a night for 4 nights. Total £2400.

What we weren't told was our villa was opposite a 24 hour construction site. Which, as I type is sounding like smashing bottles being thrown into a bottle bank crossed with several generators running.

I'm fuming, no sleep possible and we have 4 children to entertain tomorrow.

AIBU to have expected Center Parks not to have booked out our villa knowing this. Or at very least warned us.

Any advice? We've called customer services at 2am to be told that extra work was being carried out!

I'm not happy at all.

I've been to centerparcs in the past and had thought we'd go again sometime but this is really putting me off. Sort it out CP!

PookieK · 25/07/2017 19:57

I've retweeted and aimed it @CenterParcsUK
who have just replied to say:

"Hi Lisa, Guest Services on village are making contact with the family again. We are genuinely sorry for any upset caused."

Fingers crossed if we all put pressure on, they will be shamed into sorting out a proper solution.

Slarti · 25/07/2017 19:57

I've RTd your video OP. We've had some perfectly amazing holidays at CP but this has really put me off. Maybe we have been lucky and the one time we aren't CP will shaft us. When you pay those prices you want a guarantee not a gamble!

ShatnersWig · 25/07/2017 20:02

Oddly enough, CP appear to have replied to everyone on Twitter with that same message - except me, when I Tweeted them three hours ago, pointing out I was thinking of not coming to them as planned again this autumn. Obviously they don't want me!

Slarti · 25/07/2017 20:02

I've stuck my oar in on that tweet pookie

Hopefully they will take notice when they realise people aren't keen spending their hard earned cash on such awful customer services!

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 25/07/2017 20:08

Op - have they been in contact again? Whatever the hell that means!?
I've retweeted them too.

Hope you get a much more satisfactory response.

I've retweeted it, copying in @CentreParcsUK too. I hope with all the complaints, they'll stop the overnight works. It really is unacceptable.

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2017 20:21

OP - there is a 4 bedroom executive lodge with games room available for the week of 21st August. How about suggesting CP offer you to come back for free that week?

Mumblebeebee · 25/07/2017 20:21

@PookieK No one has been in touch.

They said this afternoon they would call in the morning, maybe that's what they were referring to.

Thank you for helping.

It's still blissfully quiet......

Thank you everyone, for helping. it's reassuring to know so many agree that it's unreasonable.

Good, long may it continue OP!

Hope you are having a good holiday now the noise has stopped and you get lots of relaxing in Smile

LapdanceShoeshine · 25/07/2017 20:53

@FUNM

That planning permission - hotel & water park - is for Longleat itself, isnt it? Not CP at Longleat?

Squeegle · 25/07/2017 21:02

Of course it's completely unreasonable! In a residential area it would be forbidden!

SoPassRemarkable · 25/07/2017 21:06

Seriously shit customer service. Sadly I've heard of identical problems with CP on social media and trip advisor. Major building works and only compensation offered is £50 off another holiday.

Personally I also think they're overbuilding......keep building more villas but the pool, etc stay the same size so it feels more and more crowded every year. Harder to book a table at a restaurant, or a tennis court, etc.

I've given up with CP now, gone seriously downhill.

Creampastry · 25/07/2017 21:08

£600 a night for centreparcs...... no way would I pay that, not worth it at all. It's stupid. A glorified Butlins.

SeetheseeyessogreenIcanstarefo · 25/07/2017 21:08

Doesn't it come to something when you are grateful for basic noise levels on of all things a center parks holiday. Amazingly how you get broken down so quickly.

Funnily enough I've just received an email from CP about their new water rides at Longleat. Nowhere on the email does it mention the current building works, only that you can go on them from the 16th of August.

hollytom · 25/07/2017 21:38

I have tweeted about it. I think as many mumsnetters as possible should tweet. I feel for you we had a night in a hotel where there was dreadful noise I complained and got a full refund.

ColossalKalamari · 25/07/2017 21:46

I hope you have a peaceful night op

Catchytune · 25/07/2017 21:54

Not sure how much they need to care if people are prepared to pay £600 a night, for a night in the woods ( with pool).
Sorry you've had a rubbish holiday but as I found out when paying a similar price for an appalling weekend in a posh London hotel room - their rooms are filled. They don't care.

WutheringTights · 25/07/2017 22:26

Were currently at Bluestone in Wales for the second year running. Smaller, cheaper, really nice. I'd been idly looking into CP for next year for a change but after some of the experiences shared on this thread, not a chance!

I agree

More and more of the larger, luxury accomodation

Woburn, whilst shiny and new does not have the same feel as the others

We went to longleat early June and they were doing work then, and the Rapids were closed the whole time apart from a few hours one day, ridiculous
