Longleat Center Parcs, taking £600 a night to be on a 24hr building site! Aaagghh

Mumblebeebee · 25/07/2017 02:05

We are currently staying at Longleat centre parcs. Having saved for this for a year, it's costing an eye watering £600 a night for 4 nights. Total £2400.

What we weren't told was our villa was opposite a 24 hour construction site. Which, as I type is sounding like smashing bottles being thrown into a bottle bank crossed with several generators running.

I'm fuming, no sleep possible and we have 4 children to entertain tomorrow.

AIBU to have expected Center Parks not to have booked out our villa knowing this. Or at very least warned us.

Any advice? We've called customer services at 2am to be told that extra work was being carried out!

I'm not happy at all.

I've retweeted too.

mcdog · 25/07/2017 18:51

I posted much earlier in the hope it would be resolved when I came back later. I am genuinely horrified at CP dreadful response to this. It has made me consider cancelling my booking for December to be honest.

Long bridge Deverill parish council

FUNM · 25/07/2017 18:53

They have send a PM to a woman on FB asking about the noise. No public explanation - DAILY MAIL here our cry!!!!

Weebitty · 25/07/2017 18:56

what are the people in the neighbouring lodges saying? surely they can't be happy either? that level of noise is unacceptable anywhere whether it's a caravan for 150 for the week or 600quid a night

purpleprincess24 · 25/07/2017 19:01

We booked a very expensive cruise several years ago, costing us around £15k however the ship broke down 48 hours before we were due to board.

The cruise line immediately issued every cabin a full refund and a FREE cruise in the same category of cabin for the same number of nights

The following year we had a wonderful cruise in the Penthouse Suite for 2 weeks in the Med, with our own butler, completely free of charge

You accept in life that things go wrong, it's how they deal with it that matters. In my opinion they should be offering you the same compensation which we were given

This ^^ and this is why i would never ever set foot in CP nor butlins, pontins etc.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 25/07/2017 19:12

The council have agreed to it being built NOT to it being a 24/7 operation.

I would definitely contact environmental health seeing as how you've had no joy with centreparcs.

KatyBerry · 25/07/2017 19:16

Given their utter disregard for their customers' satisfaction, I'd be inclined to make their lives as difficult as possible. Screw em. They've lost a fair bit of custom already from this thread; now make the buggers jump through every hoop available to you,. There are ways and ways of dealing with things and this is very much not the right one

Almahart · 25/07/2017 19:22

TERRIBLE publicity for them and no more than they deserve.

MrsLovely · 25/07/2017 19:29

Hello OP

We too are staying at Longleat CP, in the 900 villas- I was woken at 2am this morning by noise. Have just been to complain to Guest Services, very nice lady, but fobbed off with an email address for customer services ( she doesn't have a landline, apparently!)
Am pretty disappointed- we booked this last year, when they said the new rides would be ready by Easter of this year. And clearly they're weren't. We had an email two weeks ago telling us they would be ready in August. No apology, no warning.

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2017 19:32

Updated response from CP:

"I can assure you that we will do our best to keep the disruption to a minimum. If for any reason you do have any problems during your stay I would kindly ask for you to speak with the Guest Services team on the village who will resolve any issues there and then."

MrsLovely and OP - feel free to quote the fact that they say Guest Services will resolve any issues "there and then"

SeetheseeyessogreenIcanstarefo · 25/07/2017 19:33
Shock

Indeed mrs lovely go back to guest services....stay until the issue is resolved. its barmy

this is from TA in 2016

We booked a 3 bed exec lodge, Maple 927, Mon-Fri, paying extra for proximity to Plaza area. Although access to lodge is from 2pm, in reality the queue of cars was so large right through past 3pm that we gave up for a while and eventually got to our lodge after 4.30pm.
Lodge layout (upstairs and downstairs) and room sizes were good for us with 2 teenagers and a seven year old. Lodge decor itself was a little tired but fine.
Sauna was a great addition and used daily.
The worst aspect for us was the closeness of building work and the noise of site traffic, beeping, radios and general site noise. One of the main reasons for paying the expensive Centre Parcs prices was always for the advertised tranquility which was sadly lacking.
We did complain and were offered one alternative lodge, some distance away but it was single storey and much smaller floor size and so not acceptable to us as a family. We also understood that building work has to be carried out and that Centre Parcs are open 365 days a year but felt that we should have been warned on booking.
We were asked to return to resolve complaint on the last day of our stay, Friday. We did so and were offered £150 refund, by cheque which we accepted. However, we were told that this couldn't be done immediately and that Centre Parcs would be in touch within a week by email. 10 days later we have still had no contact from them.

The noise has stopped! I'm hoping they are not going to start up soon.

Now it's stopped I have realised how intrusive it's been. It's blissfully quiet, like it normally is.

I do hope they have changed schedule and we are going to get some sleep tonight Grin

Fingers crossed you get a good night's sleep OP x

NancyDonahue · 25/07/2017 19:43

This is terrible, op. You deserve a full refund plus compensation. Don't give up, Watchdog will be very interested in this.

Sandinshoes · 25/07/2017 19:44

I'm not surprised about CP. When I was a teenager we'd booked to go then my Grandfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a couple of months to live (he actually died on the day we were due to leave). CP refused to give us a refund as apparently it was a 'prexisting condition' I.e he must have had it before going to the doctors as it killed him so quickly. My Dad was too grief stricken and trying to hold it all together for us to go after them.

They are a bunch of money grabbing bastards.

glenthebattleostrich · 25/07/2017 19:45

Retweeted, absolutely disgusting and I will be changing our holiday plans now.

Mumblebeebee · 25/07/2017 19:46

*MrsLovely, don't be fobbed off. We called the security services last night several times to log complaints of the noise. Between 12.39 and 2.15 I think. So your complaint will be one more strengthening the case.

The security services said the noise levels were unacceptable last night, but they had no power to act.

It's still eerily quiet.....

Sorry I seem to be in bold.*

I just don't get why they don't warn customers about this. I went to Sherwood earlier this year and there's serious construction going on there, nothing was said about it in advance at all. Luckily it didn't affect us much, but pretty sure that other guests would have been pretty livid as you are op.

LavenderDoll · 25/07/2017 19:48

It's disgusting - they need to give you full refund

SandyDenny · 25/07/2017 19:49

Hope you have a quiet night tonight, they might have got the message now and be trying to avoid a social media fail

Moomin37 · 25/07/2017 19:49

Just seen the video on Twitter Shock Sad OP I'm so sorry you're having such a rotten time and really hope you receive adequate compensation. We're huge CP fans but this really isn't on Angry
