Longleat Center Parcs, taking £600 a night to be on a 24hr building site! Aaagghh

Mumblebeebee · 25/07/2017 02:05

We are currently staying at Longleat centre parcs. Having saved for this for a year, it's costing an eye watering £600 a night for 4 nights. Total £2400.

What we weren't told was our villa was opposite a 24 hour construction site. Which, as I type is sounding like smashing bottles being thrown into a bottle bank crossed with several generators running.

I'm fuming, no sleep possible and we have 4 children to entertain tomorrow.

AIBU to have expected Center Parks not to have booked out our villa knowing this. Or at very least warned us.

Any advice? We've called customer services at 2am to be told that extra work was being carried out!

I'm not happy at all.

That is absolutely disgusting that they arerefusing to do anything about it (anything to salvage your holiday). Ridiculous amount of no use at that time in the morning

Didiusfalco · 25/07/2017 17:57

Terrible Op, hope you get some more joy now it's on twitter. I think a full refund is the only acceptable solution. Your lodge was not fit to be used as holiday accommodation.

EggysMom · 25/07/2017 17:58

Oh, and as the mum of an autistic child, I do know what you're going through with regards to not wanting the disruption of moving. However, I wouldn't pursue that angle in any refund claim - CP are not in the business of providing respite breaks or holidays specially tailored for the disabled. Unless you specifically asked when you booked "please can you ensure that we are not moved or disrupted as I have a disabled child", you have no rights to special treatment in this respect.

What you should stress is that a move to smaller accommodation would not give you the space - separate rooms - which you purchased specifically to suit your family's needs. This reflects the fact that you understand the responsibility is on you to provide an appropriate holiday for your disabled child, and that you did so - and that they, as providers, have not come through on their part of the contract.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 25/07/2017 18:02

Yes to screen grab the website.

I just rang them (cos I'm over invested) and asked whereabouts it says on the website about the building work. She said she didn't know. Thought it was under 'news' - a section I certainly don't have on my phone. Then admitted she didn't really know if it was on the website.

She also said she didn't know about the overnight working.

She said the best way to get a response (to my question what on earth were they doing not compensating the op - is this the level of customer service to expect for £600 a night - where is the website explanation of overnight building work) is to email -
[email protected]

Perhaps if lots of us do it they might realise what bad publicity it is to mess with mumsnet...

chickenowner · 25/07/2017 18:04

I've retweeted the video and tweet as well. :-)

Yogagirl123 · 25/07/2017 18:07

If it's not clearly displayed on their booking website, it is probably, buried in their T & C's, somewhere, you know what we all have to accept to book, and can't be bothered to read as we haven't got days to spare!

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 25/07/2017 18:10

Don't know if this helps but this is the Longleat Forest News page that I have just screenshot.
It's on my phone so maybe too small to read?
Certainly no mention of building works.

Bloody hell! That's awful op. CP have just proven what a shallow money-making machine they realky are. They are offering their customers no care or service.

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2017 18:17

Let's bombard their Facebook page too

Tumblethumps · 25/07/2017 18:18

My tweet linking the thread appears to have been deleted. Are CP mass deleting?

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/07/2017 18:22

Probably.

They say no publicity is bad publicity but in this case they aren't doing themselves any favours.

PovertyJetset · 25/07/2017 18:24

That's reallly bad of CP!

Spookle · 25/07/2017 18:25

It's appalling that you are being treated this way OP and I hope it is resolved very quickly and to the benefit of your family.

Just saw a PP post that their Twitter comment regarding this situation had been deleted - disgusting behaviour from Centre Parcs Longleat.

SeashellHoarder · 25/07/2017 18:25

Good, that video is awful. What a racket at 2am!

We'd been considering booking CP for October holidays. Won't do that now!

Don't they realise MN is their target market?

ShatnersWig · 25/07/2017 18:27

I've seen a couple of postings linking the thread, haven't seen any of them deleted. I don't think you can delete someone else's, only your own

GeekyWombat · 25/07/2017 18:31

Did you see the other hashtag use of yesterday was seemingly a mass evacuation of everyone at Elveden last night? Center Parcs clearly not having a good day!

Makes me worry for our trip booked in November!

Yogagirl123 · 25/07/2017 18:32

Let it turn into a PR nightmare for them, they haven't been fair with you, absolute madness for building works to go on 24hrs if holidaymakers are in the vicinity. Not on at all. I really feel for you OP, no joke when you have a child with SN, you certainly need your rest.

SeetheseeyessogreenIcanstarefo · 25/07/2017 18:32

Op I really feel for you.

I must admit I have been put off these types of places in the past because of the way they deal with complaints, they really do not care, same for Butlins etc.

I remember a few threads where posters had precious holiday ruined and with people with disabilities in tow.
I am currently toying with the idea of going to campsite in France but sadly the reviews are bad, if I go its with \v v low expectations.

I think you need to spam and go crazy on as many media outlets that you can , twitter - facebook pages, here obv - write to the .......Daily mail - !!! They are desperate for stories they even trawl here for them.

send email out - not just to top man at CP but all the top people...

We had building work on a hols once and the owners were shitty about it. I don't understand why people don't immediately apologies...and give you some money back and offer you a few nights at another time, as well as current stay? Or some form of compensation its a no brainer when it comes to building work and noise, of course its going to ruin holidays!

Ceto · 25/07/2017 18:33

I suggest you get a review onto Trip Advisor ASAP, and see if you can persuade your neighbours to do likewise.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/07/2017 18:36

Seashell

Maybe they think the dhs book it & us silly women do as we're told? 😂

Astounding arrogance their showing to their target consumer. Remind me how they make money again?.

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2017 18:37

I contacted Center Parcs via their website. This is their reply:

"We are currently aware of this and our teams on the village are looking into this. May I ask for your booking reference number please? This is so that I can establish when you're visiting us and I can best advise you of this."

I will let you know when I get another reply

Rachie1986 · 25/07/2017 18:42

Have retweeted what I believe if your tweet.

Ijustwantaquietlife · 25/07/2017 18:43

That video is not going to go viral, get closer and show a few different shots and edit it together so people share it

FiveGoMadInDorset · 25/07/2017 18:44

Trying to find out which district council covers Longleat but if you contact Wiltshire County Council or tweet them to complain as well
