She's 31 and until she met this new girl she never took drugs.
Now every time she goes out with her she takes Coke.
Every 30 minutes going to the toilet taking more.
I'm starting to dislike her because of it,I know that sounds awful but she's always jumping around after it,sweating, sniffing, bleeding nose and I just think she's Pathetic.
Both 31,she has 3 kids and I think your a mother and doing that.
I love a night out, cocktails etc but I'm honestly thinking of ending our friendship.
What's your opinions?

"Smoking cannabis or snorting coke will invariably lead to harder drugs for many, "

I dispute that. I would go as far as saying that he total opposite is true. Few go further.

If you go on the statistics earlier linked, a large proportion of population have tried drugs. Few continue.

Oblomov17 · 25/07/2017 20:29

MrsTP
Linked earlier.

So, 46% have tried hash/weed etc.
That's half the population.

But a tiny number become addicted.

So there you go. That's the refute to your ill-informed comment that people go on to stronger stuff. Bullshit.

And the first drugs people try in the US at least, are prescribed drugs for someone else. Painkillers, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants. And alcohol.

HattiesBackpack · 25/07/2017 20:56

MrsTerryPratchett

Why is meth so popular in the US? And why do you think people make the leap from prescription drugs to illegal drugs?

Naturebabe · 25/07/2017 21:17

BBC 2 now - if you want to see what drugs can do to parents and their kids....

Trade routes, I think mainly. And culture. Because Europe has routes through Italy and so on, it's easy to get cannabis and heroin. And we have a history with countries that produce opiates. Whereas if you live in some tiny hamlet in the Midwest, I don't think any Afghani opium farmer knows how to get product to you. You can cook meth fairly easily with stuff from your local pharmacy and supply shops. Not safely! But easily.

The US and to a certain extent Canada are RIFE with prescription drugs. People have a lot of painkillers and sleeping pills because of the system there (more pills = more profit), the terrible drug licencing issues (Google Fentanyl) and the general lack of well-being. I was twice offered opiates for a cough in Canada. Once you're hooked on oxy or similar you tend to increase the amount you take because it's addictive. Maybe your doctor cuts you off, you have to get it somewhere. Your local drug dealer has oxy and a range of other lovely cheap opiates and other drugs. If you're a kid you may have been popping your parent's pills since forever.

A lot of kids get hooked on meth, crack and similar because they want to lose weight and party. We call it the Jenny Crack diet. You'll lose weight, mainly in the form of teeth. Gallows humour.

Well every day is a school day I've just found out what the fuck a woo woo is. So one cocktail contains three shots? Op must be fucking minted! How much do they cost?
(Perhaps she can fund rehab for her mate she's now worried about rather than slagging off Smile)

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/07/2017 21:26

honey

In our house a woo woo is a vagina

My friends think it's hysterical when they order one in a bar

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/07/2017 21:26

I've just found out what the fuck a woo woo is. I love you HoneyDragon.

HoneyDragon · 25/07/2017 21:29

Well as I said I've not had a drink for the best part of a decade and before that I was a beardy real ale sort.

I've only recently discovered cocktails now that list of places do booze free ones which make a nice change from pop.

HoneyDragon · 25/07/2017 21:30

Woo woo Grin

I'm going to ask if I can get a virgin woo woo on my next night out now Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/07/2017 21:56

Well as I said I've not had a drink for the best part of a decade All lies. According to a few on this thread me and you and everyone else is a raging coke-fiend. News to me but it means you are a secret woo woo drinker. Deffo.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/07/2017 21:59

To be fair i think honey is the type to drink woo woos

Majora · 25/07/2017 22:00

Eh, I would probably dabble in some things if offered, but not crack, coke or heroin.

I do think alcohol is worse than a lot of drugs that are illegal though tbh - and I don't mean a couple of cocktails, but a lot of people don't leave it at that. Uni drinking culture is legitimately frightening to me. I just don't touch clubs or pubs anymore because I don't drink at all.

MrsTerryPratchett

Thank you for answering my questions, I have noticed that it seems like the US has a massive drugs problem - how it compares to the uk i don't know?

I have 'issues' with drugs for a few reasons, the 1st one is that through my teen and early adult life i lived with with a prescription opiates addict (mainly OxyContin) and have seen and lived through the damage it can do both the user and their loved ones.
( And yes it does wind me up when people talk about taking drugs like they're awesome- come and see some of the shit my family went through and then try telling me how much fun they are!)

I also disapprove of the illegal drugs trade, (as mentioned in previous post)

Your posts are a good reminder that life isn't as cut and dried as we sometimes think. And it is important to remember that people get caught up in these situations for a whole host of different reasons.

DioneTheDiabolist · 25/07/2017 22:48

Where I am in the UK the biggest problem is with prescription drugs: lyrica, tramadol, diazepam, codeine and temazepam. In one weekend we had 5 people die from taking alcohol along with these drugs.

The agencies that my organisation works with are reporting fewer problems with illegals (apart from heroin which is on the rise as prescription opiates become harder to get) and a huge problem with medication. Sad

JustAnotherPoster00 · 25/07/2017 22:50

My DP tried cannabis once, he then started playing the piano maniacally and then murdered the whole family including me......after 1 joint!!!! True story, they made a film about it Hmm

AnneGrommit · 26/07/2017 00:00

Actually you jest but it's more common than you might think to have a scary time on cannabis. I myself can't tolerate it at all and one experience that I had left me with PTSD. It honestly haunted me for years and has had a lasting impact on my life.

From one joint.

classPath · 26/07/2017 04:11

I take drugs occasionally. I haven't this year. I did twice last year. So does my DH. He used to be a GP. I am a head of a large and good school.

If you look down on someone because they take drugs and fuel the drug trade but also go into Starbucks and order a skinny latte without understanding the horrors of the coffee bean trade then you're either hypocritical or an idiot.

If you think that alcohol is okay because it's legal but other drugs are bad because they're illegal then your problem is an inability to think for yourself.

Ignoring the arbitrary legal classification, what is the difference between alcohol and weed or coke @Fluffypinkpyjama ? I'm far from dumb and not being obtuse.

@Ashkey234 I think you're somewhat brainwashed into thinking that my bi-annual marijuana smoking risks leaving my children without a mother any more than driving on the motorway. I suspect you're one of those people who thinks that driving at 71mph on the motorway means you'll die in a big fiery crash whereas 70mph means you'll walk away from an incident unharmed.

It's easy to look down on people with different opinions to yours and I'm sure that it makes some people feel better about their decisions but really, it makes you sound like a smug arse. The brain is nothing but chemicals and orgasms, sport, winning, being scared, being nervous ... all these alter the chemical make-up of the brain for a short time. I've ridden the IoM TT and the feeling when you get off your bike is better than any drug I've ever tried. You may say it made me an irresponsible mother but, hey ho. People aren't boring because they need to take drugs. They enjoy the experience of a slightly altered state of mind. That doesn't make them boring or pathetic or skanky or scummy or grubby anymore than being a vegan, raw food, teetotalling, non-caffeine, organic, Corbyn-voting Guardian-reader makes someone else more interesting. I know which of these two I would rather chat two.

makeourfuture · 26/07/2017 06:13

Has there been a substance causing more harm to humanity than alcohol?

everythingissoblinkinrosie · 26/07/2017 06:21
