About number of beds...

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 10:11

Am staying in converted barn holiday place with one other couple. 3 bedroom place.

Before we came we flipped a coin for the 'nicest' bedroom of the three. We won Wink.

Anyway we just arrived last night to find 'our' room isn't made up... only the other two rooms are. There are no towels on the bed etc either.

Aibu to think we should have access to the whole house that we paid for!?

Does anyone have a twitter account, that might get a response faster than the Facebook page.

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 21:18

Thank you Bum. I can see the post but because I'm not on fb I can't see the comments.

Madness - they must know they're risking crap reviews everywhere by keeping up this unreasonable stance. Obviously they've done it to save a small bit of cleaning/laundry even though you've paid same as 6 people.

unfortunateevents · 21/07/2017 21:23

It's not just on FB that they have bad reviews. Google HomeAway reviews and they are getting epically bad reviews everywhere! How is this company still going?

mummymummums · 21/07/2017 21:28

If you are Ros OP homeAway want you to contact them - though I think possibly someone else on here posted this for you.

About number of beds...
PocketNiffler · 21/07/2017 21:28

From the FB page: "Hi Ros. We're sorry to hear this, please private message us with your booking number, property number and email so our team can look into this. Many thanks."

PocketNiffler · 21/07/2017 21:29

Xpost !

unfortunateevents · 21/07/2017 21:33

That FB message seems to be their standard response to all complaints - and there are a lot of them! I just scrolled through the past couple of months and there are lots of unhappy customers and home owners chasing return of deposits, complaining about non-availability, the lack of professionalism of their staff etc etc.

Millerr · 21/07/2017 21:36

We had this in summer 2015. Basically the same, wonder it it's the same place! Booked a rental for four of us (me, my eldest brother and my two younger brothers). They didn't make the bed in the nicest room with the ensuite.

My brother, whose name the booking was in, contacted the owners who said well when it's four people they expect them to only use two rooms!! Erm no, as much I love my brother I don't really fancy sharing a bed with him for a week! They then tried to say we could sleep on the sofa if we wanted to. Why would we do that when there's a spare bedroom...

Well anyway, a bit of shouting later and they sent a woman over with some clean sheets. The owner was threatening to 'report' us for being difficult but soon shit up about it when my brother pointed out the only thing we wanted was to be able to use all the rooms we had paid for.

The whole thing was ridiculous though, the cottage was advertised as 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and an ensuite, we wouldn't have booked it if we knew they only wanted us to use 2 bedrooms and the bathroom.

Whichwayyisup · 21/07/2017 21:46

That's mad Millerr. Sounds like it's the same place!!!!

Willowkins · 21/07/2017 21:51

This has made me ridiculously cross on your behalf OP. I hope you get this sorted and have a wonderful holiday.

woodhill · 21/07/2017 21:53

Ridiculous

44PumpLane · 21/07/2017 21:58

Absolutely disgusting behaviour- if they only make up 2 rooms it should be the 2 best and they should leave sheets for the third "just in case"!

Silvercatowner · 21/07/2017 21:58

:( This cottage isn't in Devon is it?? We've booked a 3 bedroom cottage and there's only 3 of us......

gingergenius · 21/07/2017 21:59

@Millerr ooh I wonder if it is?

QuackDuckQuack · 21/07/2017 22:09

I understand the logic of not using all of the bedrooms (though don't agree with the practice). But why they'd ask you not to use the second bathroom is beyond me.

Inertia · 21/07/2017 22:11

How utterly rude of the cottage owners! It's certainly not standard practice to shut off rooms , though I have come across some holiday let owners offering a significant discount for reduced occupancy in larger houses.

I would buy a cheap king size bottom sheet from the nearest supermarket, and then move the rest of the bedding upstairs. I would also refer them to the local Trading Standards.

Zoflorabore · 21/07/2017 22:28

I posted on the fb page too, cheeky sods!

Foxysoxy01 · 21/07/2017 22:39

Very glad you posted OP especially at this time of year when people are looking for last minute breaks, It makes it so much easier to know who to avoid!

The cottage owners are insane and completely unreasonable, I would be very upset in your position.

RebootYourEngine · 21/07/2017 22:39

Millerr i hope that it is the same place because i would hate to think there were two places like this.

sparechange · 21/07/2017 22:39

From the complaints on the Facebook page from holiday home owners, it looks like Home Away hold the money and then forward it on to the owner at a later date

So it may we'll be worth speaking to them ASAP, because while the owner may not issue a refund, Home Away may well do...

gingergenius · 21/07/2017 22:41

Let's all go there and jump on the unmade bed and poo in the ensuite!
Or maybe I just need to get out more!

woodhill · 21/07/2017 22:44

Isn't the whole point to enjoy the mb and ensuite, we don't all have ensuite bathrooms so it's nice. They are bang out of order.

We've just been away and we're glad to have 2 bathrooms when dd and dh joined us during our stay and were ill.

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 22:49

Worryingly it is a different place! We are up in the North. I've got another holiday booked through Home Away too ... ahh! Hopefully this is a bad apple. I took others advise and popped to the local(ish) supermarket for a king sheet!
