About number of beds...

Am staying in converted barn holiday place with one other couple. 3 bedroom place.

Before we came we flipped a coin for the 'nicest' bedroom of the three. We won Wink.

Anyway we just arrived last night to find 'our' room isn't made up... only the other two rooms are. There are no towels on the bed etc either.

Aibu to think we should have access to the whole house that we paid for!?

I hope they see sense and either part refund you or sort your bedding. Don't back down.

Ceto · 21/07/2017 17:27

I don't think those are kisses, mygorgeous, OP has just substituted xs for names.

blankface · 21/07/2017 17:28

Definitely contact HomeAway and send them screenshots of your conversations with the owners.

You should have kingsize bedding and hopefully a discount for the non-use of that room and ensuite fairly quickly.

What appalling behaviour by the owners.

chickenowner · 21/07/2017 17:29

I've been on holiday twice before with my brother, so we had the same surname. Once was in a holiday cottage with 2 double rooms, and we definitely needed to use both of them!

How do the cottage owners know that you aren't one couple and a brother and sister?

Maybe you should pretend that you are?

Ninjakittysmells · 21/07/2017 17:30

Please can I suggest all guests now using fake tan (the one that develops over night) and a glitter bath bomb.

Arses! Who treats their customers like that?!

chickenowner · 21/07/2017 17:31

Haha, love the glitter bath bomb idea!

LadyinCement · 21/07/2017 17:32

I don't think it's fair lambasting Home&Away at this stage. It is the owner who is behaving badly. home &Away may well sort it out if the problem can't be resolved by guest and owner.

Cackleberry4 · 21/07/2017 17:32

I have travelled with Mr Cackleberry, he was my father in law though and if a host thought I was going to share a room with him they'd have another think coming!!! He snores like a donkey with sinusitis!

Mumsnut · 21/07/2017 17:42

Name the cottage, OP. Then at least we'll all know to avoid it.

fizzicles · 21/07/2017 17:45

That's awful. You essentially have a 2 bed/1bath property, when you've paid for 3 bed/2bath. I'm pretty sure that's false advertising, have you contacted the company you booked through?

Eggandchipsfortea93 · 21/07/2017 17:54

I had this once (3 bed property, and they actually asked what beds we wanted made up, then ignored and told us on arrival the 2DSs had to share to save them cleaning).
I just said 'no, but don't worry, we'll move the sheets to other room ourselves' and ushered them out..but that was easier because we had the right sheets.
I'd be tempted to buy cheap sheets and email to let them know the price, so they can deduct it from the bill! I'd also say that there seems to have been some confusion, as clearly you paid for the full property, as advertised, not part use, and that this seems the easiest way all round to bring the accommodation up to the standard needed.

Rachie1986 · 21/07/2017 17:56

That's pretty bad!
I would keep pushing. And use the ensuite!!

LakieLady · 21/07/2017 18:37

That is absolutely outrageous!

I would buy a cheap king size sheet and use the best room. I would also eat a whole box of bran flakes the night before leaving, thus ensuring I could have biggest dump ever in the en suite, and leave it, unflushed, to greet them.

Bluntness100 · 21/07/2017 18:46

I'm a bit gobsmacked to be honest. I can't believe they asked you not to use the en suite. It's so very weird, what difference does it make?

You've rented the property not a specific room in it. Totally bizzare behaviour.

mygorgeousmilo · 21/07/2017 18:47

Ceto ha! I'm a twit Blush got carried away by flashbacks of emails that my cottage people sent me. Something like, "no, you're not getting what you've paid for. Have a wonderful time XXXXXX". So infuriating!

Blatherskite · 21/07/2017 18:47

I've done weekends away with friends before and booked houses which may have seem otherwise oversized.

They have no right to decide your sleeping arrangements!

EvelynWardrobe · 21/07/2017 18:48

I can't see any comments on the Home Away FB site, just a long list of posts advertising their properties.

Lucisky · 21/07/2017 19:02

If you go to their face ache page and click on community, there's a link to the mn post by the op.

EvelynWardrobe · 21/07/2017 19:09

Thanks!

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 20:49

Sorry all, no response. I'm not on Facebook - can anyone tell me what it says?
