About number of beds...

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 10:11

Am staying in converted barn holiday place with one other couple. 3 bedroom place.

Before we came we flipped a coin for the 'nicest' bedroom of the three. We won Wink.

Anyway we just arrived last night to find 'our' room isn't made up... only the other two rooms are. There are no towels on the bed etc either.

Aibu to think we should have access to the whole house that we paid for!?

Is it an airbnb place? If so then check whether they charge for 'extra people'. Sometimes a place will have a flat rate for the whole place, no matter how many occupants, and sometimes they'll have a standard price for, say, 4 people with any extra costing another £20 (or whatever) a night.

BUT regardless of this, I think it's bloody cheeky to leave the nicest room unusable! Surely you'd leave the smallest one spare, not the one with the lovely king size bed? And as for the assumption that you all want to be on the same floor, that's nonsense. I can understand if you were a family with kids sleeping in one of the rooms, but if anything I'd expect two couples to want a bit of privacy from each other Wink

Kittychatcat · 21/07/2017 12:18

You'll probably be able to find spare bedding for the king size bed and extra towels hidden in a cupboard somewhere. Make sure that everyone uses the ensuite bathroom at least once during your stay!

PuppyMonkey · 21/07/2017 12:22

Is it Air BnB? Very very odd if not. Definitely go and do a massive poo in the en-suite at the very least.

ChoudeBruxelles · 21/07/2017 12:23

I'd make sure to use the ensuite loo before leaving and not flush it properly

Want2beme · 21/07/2017 12:32

This is wrong. I have holiday props and all bedrooms are made up, en suites filled with towels for guest to use as they will. The price paid by guests is for the whole property. If they've charged a lower price for using less bedrooms, they should ask you before arriving, which bedrooms you'd like to use. I couldn't live with myself knowing all bedrooms weren't made up. That's cheating!

BlondeGinger · 21/07/2017 12:33

Do you have any king sized bedding you could take and use yourself? I know you shouldn't have to and I completely agree that if they're not going to allow you to use the whole place then you shouldn't be charged for the whole place.
But maybe if you took a king size duvet and sheet if you've got one and used pillows from the other bed then you can use the suite still. AND the en suite!
How cheeky of them!

PotOfYoghurt · 21/07/2017 12:36

God how cheeky of them!

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 12:36

Hi all - will read properly later but just popping by to answer a few questions.

No it's not Airbnb (though all the ones of those I've used have been great!) it is booked through a reputable company - Home Away.

As far as I am aware I have booked the whole place - nothing to suggest otherwise and have done nothing differently to normal.

No reply as yet.

Oh I'm an idiot. For some reason it didn't click that you're already there! Duh! How else would you know the other bed wasn't made up! Sorry!

MrsOverTheRoad · 21/07/2017 12:40

If they get arsey, contact Home and AWay and get on social media.

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 12:43

What's odd is that is has glowing reviews. The place is described by others are luxurious, and owners thought of everything etc. It really, really isn't. Oh well, location is great...

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 12:52

Wow, that's massively out of order. I hope they fix it for you.

To add insult to injury the alarm was set for 5am in the unused room and the owners refused to fix it even though it woke them each morning.

I would have thrown the alarm clock in the furthest bin possible.

bedformeplease · 21/07/2017 14:22

"This is standard practice across the industry, we haven't had any prior complaints. We do not issue refunds"

HELENSCRESCENT · 21/07/2017 14:23

Have they got back to you yet?

BrunoMartelli · 21/07/2017 14:27

Can you put a link to the property on here so we know which one to avoid? I've used Home and Away several times and I've never experienced this.

Floralnomad · 21/07/2017 14:28

Is your last post the response ? Personally I'd say that you are 4 people but not all couples and never specified / were asked to specify that you only needed two bedrooms and you need use of the third room .

Smitff · 21/07/2017 14:30

I'd say that you therefore feel compelled to write a review copying and pasting the correspondence as you wouldn't want future paying guests to be left in the dark about this.

Cuckingfunt1981 · 21/07/2017 14:31

That is so so so rude . We own 2 holiday cottages and would never not make up all the rooms and certainly would never reply in that abrupt manner . I'd definitely be emailing them a sharp response back and making damn sure someone brings the appropriate bedding and makes up the room or request some money back

HipsterHunter · 21/07/2017 14:32

That is cheeky as fuck.

I would be ringing the agent / owner and getting them to come in and make the bed up!

peekyboo · 21/07/2017 14:35

Link them to this thread then link this thread to their site...

HipsterHunter · 21/07/2017 14:35

OMG I just saw thay have refused to come nad make the bed up!

Say you aren't 2 couples and booked a cottage with three bedroom specifically. Also say obviously you'll be leaving feedback consummate with the level (or not) of customer service in resolving this.

Why would you make up the two shittest rooms anyway? It makes zero sense. Surely you would always make up the two best rooms?

NotAPuffin · 21/07/2017 14:35

So they advertised three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and let you use two bedrooms and one bathroom? Don't let this go!

Ceto · 21/07/2017 14:37

It so isn't standard practice. You let three rooms, you make them up. You don't decide your guests' sleeping arrangements for them.

Fitzsimmons · 21/07/2017 14:38

Shame them on social media. That's appalling.

Ceto · 21/07/2017 14:40

Is it this company? Maybe paste links to this thread on there?
