New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

If that happened, CA would think it was the fault of GOSH..

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:15

@JR Judge says that Professor Michio Hirano of Columbia University Medical Center now agrees to be named as witness who gave evidence yesterday

I think that really this is the best way forward. If the American doctor can meet with the team treating him now and see Charlie for himself then hopefully both medical teams can discuss things rationally.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:16

Mucky I agree. As I said yesterday, I think the HJF is covering all bases.

stitchglitched · 14/07/2017 14:16

I think it is probably best if he comes over, and assuming he then agrees with the GOSH position after examining him that will hopefully help the parents face reality and stop some of the surrounding nonsense from CA etc.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:16

Gollop for GOSH: Hirano could have examined Charlie at any time since January.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 14/07/2017 14:16

I do wonder why it has taken so long for the expert to come over though!

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:17

Mr Armstrong tells the court that the meeting will be attended only by medical experts and Charlie's parents. No lawyers there.

OP posts:
BlondieJ · 14/07/2017 14:17

Why haven't GOSH done an MRI to show brain damage?

Someone mentioned earlier that there is a waiting list and other people are higher priority... but surely a court case which has gone on for so long is a priority?! To prove that the brain damage is such that can't be reversed?

Sorry if I'm being really ignorant, because I have no knowledge of these things!

Hollycatberry · 14/07/2017 14:17

Is this just a proposal by the parents counsel though? Could Judge refuse?

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 14:17

LovelyBath77, I agree, they will say they paid him off lol

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:17

A transcript of the meeting will be taken so that the judge will know precisely what was said.

OP posts:
GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 14:17

tru why couldnt he have come before now

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 14:17

MRI will not show full extent of damage.

LovelyBath77 · 14/07/2017 14:17

It is concerning his specialism is muscular./ neuro. when that is the other type.

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 14:17

This is turning into utter farce.

LovelyBath77 · 14/07/2017 14:18

It said, he had discussed on telephone at previous hearings.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:18

Armstrong: all clinicians agree there should be a meeting but Hirano must return to NY on Tuesday afternoon

The judge is only allowing the idenification of Mr Hirano because his name has been linked to #CharlieGard in the US.

OP posts:
rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 14:18

I hope that the outcome is that prof says Charlie is too ill, then his parents can go and be with him and the hysteria will go down, allowing them to have some peace.

Gosh will still be blamed whatever happens now anyway.

DarthMaiden · 14/07/2017 14:18

The judge praised the statement from C&C - anyone know what was said?

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 14:19

not sam thing though is it lovly

LovelyBath77 · 14/07/2017 14:19

He said yesterday, it wouldn't be much help him coming to examine him. He said he would prefer someone here to do it, didn't he? Confused

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 14:19

GabsAlot, have not a clue, but surely he should have before giving evidence?

Sostenueto, again I agree, but all bases need to be covered so theres not an outcry of murder.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:19

Darth I believe they said the criticism of GOSH was not right and the trolling. Just paraphrasing though.

OP posts:
LovelyBath77 · 14/07/2017 14:19

No, it's not. So he's therefore an expert in the other type.
