New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

Legally, does a lawyer have to put across what their client says? I.E., is it out of their control if their client wants opinion put forward as evidence?

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2017 11:42

Yes on Monday the judge was clear that the new evidence needed to indicate that brain damage could be reversed, so that question has to be addressed or the parents can't succeed. As someone has already said, GOSH are bound to adduce evidence of the current level of damage, when they get their chance to speak.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 11:43

Barmy: "they need outside specialist to do the scans else gosh could quite easily fiddle with them needs to be done by the experts who are willing to help Charlie xx"

Irony again

pasanda · 13/07/2017 11:43

Why does the judge always focus on repairing damage? There are so many people with beau. Damage that live a normal life

This from the barmy. Yes I'm sure Charlie has a great chance of living a 'normal life' FFS

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2017 11:44

Armstrong says one expert puts the chance of the treatment crossing the blood-brain barrier at 100%

As I said, this is getting silly ... and now it seems their US "expert" doesn't agree there's irreversible brain damage

Oh dear Hmm

Sirzy · 13/07/2017 11:45

The scary thing is people genuinely believe the stuff they are spouting on CA.

LapinR0se · 13/07/2017 11:45

Connie Yates tells Armstrong she measured Charlie’s head circumference. Judge orders GOSH to provide evidence of head size by tomorrow.

Oogle · 13/07/2017 11:45

news.sky.com/story/live-if-hes-still-fighting-were-still-fighting-say-charlie-gards-parents-10946729 this link is giving live updates from two reporters, it's fast moving but I'm finding it easier to read than twitter

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 11:45

Wonder if Armstrong wishes he were somewhere else, as he's having to try make bricks out of straw here.

Yamayo · 13/07/2017 11:46

Surely if the experts were so convinced they could help they would have come forward sooner with actual evidence?

MirandaWest · 13/07/2017 11:46

There is a protest going on outside court now. And there are a few people there.

straighttalker · 13/07/2017 11:46

Brain damage in the young can absolutely be something that is very flexible. I have seen children and teenagers go from comatose states to talking - not 'normal' but definitely functional enough to have a good quality of life. The brain reroutes and the young brain is plastic enough to do things that those even ten years older cannot do.

But Charlie can't move, can't breathe, can't hear, can't see. This isn't damage that can be reversed. And even if he had no brain injury at all, the rest of his body is still not functional.

Ceto · 13/07/2017 11:47

The fact that Charlie is apparently having seizures presumably means that brain damage is likely to be progressing, doesn't it?

LapinR0se · 13/07/2017 11:47

Judge: GOSH evidence is absence of skull growth indicates lack of brain development.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 11:48

i dont get the head size thing-how is it relevant its prob growing du to fluid?

pasanda · 13/07/2017 11:48

The judge seems cross that nobody has measured Charlies head for today! (I can't quite believe that either!) What the hell have they been doing for the last 2 days...

littlebrownbag · 13/07/2017 11:48

A lot of the twitter comments show a lack of understanding about the science, law and ethics around drug development and clinical trials. Which is fine, because it's a specialised area - but if you're deeply over invested in a situation, wouldn't you make more of an effort to at least understand the basics? E.g. it's actually illegal to experiment on humans if there is no reasonable expectation of a benefit (the whole try it and see argument).

Yamayo · 13/07/2017 11:48

TWEET Connie Yates tells Armstrong she measured Charlie’s head circumference. Judge orders GOSH to provide evidence of head size by tomorrow.

Yamayo · 13/07/2017 11:48

I'm amazed the hospital haven't done it.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 11:49

Have to say I agree with Judge. Very remiss of GOSH not to have measured head bearing in mind that's a huge part of their argument. Foolish, in fact.

Yamayo · 13/07/2017 11:49

Head might be swollen but they measure the skull- lack of growth lack of brain activity.

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair · 13/07/2017 11:49

Judge rather displeased that since Monday no one appears to have measured Charlie's head to give a definitive answer. #CharlieGard

Rather odd that GOSH appear not to have measured his head as per the Judge's request on Tuesday.

LapinR0se · 13/07/2017 11:50

Let's hear what gosh have to say before jumping to conclusions...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2017 11:50

The judge seems cross that nobody has measured Charlies head for today!

I'll be very surprised if that's true ... after all, GOSH haven't spoken yet today

Nquartz · 13/07/2017 11:50

Dragging on until tomorrow then, that poor baby
