A friend of mine had a cousin who happened to also be a cousin of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds. Although my friend was not actually related to Jim Kerr she referred to him as her half cousin. Another friend used to boast that she and Simon Le Bon were at school together, they did indeed go to the same school but not at the same time. Anyone else got any vague claims to fame?

Lived with someone who grew up with someone from One Direction. My 3rd cousin works behind the scenes on Dr Who. My grandad did a job for the Libyan King back in the 60s. Does that count as celeb??

Oh, and if that's not enough, my DH once played Sunday League football against the brother of Tracy Shaw (Maxine from Coronation Street). I served Tosh Lyons from the Bill on my checkout at Sainsbury's.

My ex partner's childhood friend is cousins with Tori Amos' husband.

My mum taught aerobics to the wife of the footballer Neil Webb.

My former colleague's best friend has had sex with both Eminem and Jay Kay from Jamiroquai (not at the same time!)

I once slammed straight into Joseph Fiennes when he was coming out the side entrance of a theatre and blurted "You're Ranulph Fiennes!" Blush

I went to the same school as the artist Damian Hurst and had the same art teacher. I got a high grade then him but somehow that didn't seem to do him an harm or me any good when it came to future success :)

Richard Burton lived in the street behind me (way before my time).
Rob Brydon, Anthony Hopkins and Michael Sheen are also from my town. Various family members have met them over time.
