A friend of mine had a cousin who happened to also be a cousin of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds. Although my friend was not actually related to Jim Kerr she referred to him as her half cousin. Another friend used to boast that she and Simon Le Bon were at school together, they did indeed go to the same school but not at the same time. Anyone else got any vague claims to fame?

Whilst waiting for a table in a local pizzeria, my husband got chatting to a bloke who was waiting for his takeout.

When we were seated I said to my husband 'I didn't know you knew Sam Torrance', he went a little pale.

My DH rented a room in a house that was owned by the son of one of the elves in Santa Clause The Movie.

My ex bosses son was in coronation street.

I am 4th cousin at least to Samantha Bond (who was Miss Moneypenny to Pierce Brosnan's James Bond).

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/07/2017 17:23

I was in girl guides with Dave Allen's niece (very funny comedian from a long time ago in case younger MNetters haven't heard of him).

Brendan Behan's niece was in my book club. Although I'm not sure the Brendan Behan is really a 'celebrity'.

ohfourfoxache · 12/07/2017 17:23

My grandma went to the same school as Stephen Hendry. But many, many decades apart Grin

I went to school with the SIL of the celeb who loves his kids.

Loving some of these. My own DM was a secretary of a private school and spoke to Sarah Ferguson on the phone when she was enquiring about a possible place for Beatrice and Eugenie. They didn't enrol, but one of Dick and Dom did. ( Can't remember which)

My sister may have had a drunken snog years ago with Lee Stafford (famous hairstylist)

BluebellsareBlue · 12/07/2017 17:24

@NoLoveofMine I thought Kirsty MacColl died about 20 years ago when she was on holiday

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/07/2017 17:25

My friend's SIL's best friend's cousin is in Black Lace.

(Surely that wins most tenuous connection and shittest claim to fame).

NoWittyNamesAvailable · 12/07/2017 17:26

My dad's aunty's husband was Shakin Stevens uncle.

ALoveWorthKeeping · 12/07/2017 17:26

In Uni dorms my neighbour was a neighbour to Catherine Zeta Jones' cousin.

Is that tenuous enough? Grin

I can do better than that. An ex's best friend once said hello to CZJ getting off a train in Swansea. She said hello back.

NoLoveofMine · 12/07/2017 17:26

BluebellsareBlue she died in 2000 as far as I can remember. Not sure what that has to do with it.

Greypaw · 12/07/2017 17:26

I was at school with the daughter of Lovejoy's accountant.

5foot5 · 12/07/2017 17:26

I went to the same school as Sheridan Smith. Not at the same time.

Bumbumtaloo · 12/07/2017 17:28

Someone I used to work with looked after the dogs of the lead singer of a band when he was away with work.

NoLoveofMine · 12/07/2017 17:28

Zeropiddledwhilehomeburned I can also claim a tenuous connection to her as she attended my school in her time.

pinkrocker · 12/07/2017 17:28

Keith Chegwin and Alf from Corrie stayed at my parents hotel in the v early 80's.
A Hairy Biker is married to my third cousin's friend.
My mate once told Angela Griffin that she looked nothing like Julia Roberts Grin

FleagleBingoDrooperSnork · 12/07/2017 17:29

I went to the same school as Paul McCartney's half brothers stepson. We were not in the same year.

user1492692527 · 12/07/2017 17:29

My second cousin once removed won an Oscar.

schimmelreiter · 12/07/2017 17:30

My grandfather met Whiterabbitears' great uncle, who banged the gong at the start of the films....

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 12/07/2017 17:31

One of my ex students got to the semi finals of BGT

BluebellsareBlue · 12/07/2017 17:32

@NoLoveofMine jeez sorry! SadYour post read to me as more recent past. "I'm told a neighbour had Kirsty McColl round".
I was merely checking in case this was breaking news and she was there last week.

I once saw the guy who played Paul from Neighbours at a house party.

I was super impressed Blush

LittleCandle · 12/07/2017 17:34

I used to sometimes chat online to a woman who worked in the care home where Orlando Bloom's granny was.

SongforSal · 12/07/2017 17:34

My Uncle had a 'partnership' with June Carter. Who left his band to sing with Jonny Cash.

I have met loads of very famous celebs over the years, but hands down, Peter Andre was the nicest most down to earth sweetheart. And we drank tea. Was many years ago. Still hope he's like that now!
