A friend of mine had a cousin who happened to also be a cousin of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds. Although my friend was not actually related to Jim Kerr she referred to him as her half cousin. Another friend used to boast that she and Simon Le Bon were at school together, they did indeed go to the same school but not at the same time. Anyone else got any vague claims to fame?

I have a very tenuous one to Kevin Bacon - mums cousin acted in a film with Aidan Quinn, who acted in a film with Kevin Bacon - giving me a Bacon number of three (Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game). I have dined out literally zero times on that connection

In Uni dorms my neighbour was a neighbour to Catherine Zeta Jones' cousin.

Is that tenuous enough?

My friend's Nan went to school with Leo Sayer.

My SIL's partner's mum is Mummy Pig's cousin.

A friend in high school's Mum met Matt Damon's Mum several times at conferences.

I went to the same school as George Michael twenty years later

my sister in laws partner went to school with Brian Cox. A colleague at work went to school with Mathew Macfadyen.

I worked in the same building as a woman who had an affair with Rick paarfit, and sold her story to the news of the world. Centre spread with only a guitar to hide behind......

An author of horrendous but unfortunately sales-wise successful supposedly "erotic" books lives about a minute down the road from me. A link hopefully tentative enough for me not to shudder too much at.

I'm told one of my other near neighbours had people including Kirsty MacColl round a few times at gatherings for parents from the school their children attended.

People who went to my school include Sarah Brightman, Fern Britten, Carey Mulligan and Amal Clooney (although not at the same time and only two at the same time as me although they were older.

Also when I was 15-17 my dad's friend was the producer of Top of the Pops so we often went along and met lots of famous pop stars (late 70s/early 80s)

Not so tenuous and definitely not a stealth boast, oh, yes it is when I was 19 I went out with a footballer who went on to play for England and Liverpool but was at a lower league club at the time.

My mum lived next door to Bradley Walsh and went to school with him

Picture the scene - its 1996, the era of BritPop and Cool Britannia and my best friend's big sister's best friend's grandad was best friends with Damon from Blur's Grandad.

My late mum's friend used to look after a famous persons dog (who also made tv appearances so was in itself famous ) When they were out of the country.
