If we can get our hands free to type from the constant facepalming, we should be able to post on this topic.

Say hi to Santa and tell him to get a new US President for Christmas, Natsku.

Natsku · 17/07/2017 09:49

Grin will do

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 10:46

HRC is over, Natsku.

Ask him how he feels about - for example - the junior Senator from California ? (Kamala Harris.) Smile

Tweet thread from @AdamParkhomenko* on Akhetshin who have form for acquiring umm.. opposition research

1/ This maybe a court case reporters covering Trump Jr. meeting should take a look at very closely.*

2/ 2015 lawsuit relating to Russian company & hacking + dissemination. Defendent: Rinat Akhmetshin www.documentcloud.org/documents/2825784-2015-11-12-International-Mineral-Resources-B-v-v.html twitter.com/AdamParkhomenko/status/886857296210538497/photo/1

3.3/ Here is how Rinat Akhmetshin is described as background in this case: twitter.com/AdamParkhomenko/status/886857598003286016/photo/1

4/ allegation: Rinat Akhmetshin hacks, and steals at the direction of said company. twitter.com/AdamParkhomenko/status/886858129983590400/photo/1

5/ documentation of company officially retaining Rinat Akhmetshin twitter.com/AdamParkhomenko/status/886858366869549056/photo/1

6/ Rinat Akhmetshin distributes said materials. Akhmetshin received a transfer of $100,000 for his work on the "hacking and smear campaign" twitter.com/AdamParkhomenko/status/886858924053454849/photo/1

7/7 read the case closely. Down to the meetings that take place where Rinat Akhmetshin brings tangible materials in person for review.

Thanks, Gump.

You come up with such interesting homework. Grin

Oops, some of those links aren't working because of the * at the end (MN formatting, joy).

But 3/ is a screenshot of the documents successfully linked at 2/ which seem very interesting indeed.Grin

Here's the link to the docs again:
www.documentcloud.org/documents/2825784-2015-11-12-International-Mineral-Resources-B-v-v.html

PerkingFaintly · 17/07/2017 11:36

From that lawsuit:

18. Akhmetshin is a former Soviet military counterintelligence officer who moved to Washington, D.C. to become a lobbyist.
19. While working in Washington, D.C., Akhmetshin developed a special expertise in running negative public relations campaigns.
20. In connection with these negative public relations campaigns, Akhmetshin conducted media and legislative outreach, encouraged journalists to write negative articles in connection with his client matters, and developed close relationships with reporters in New York, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.
...
25. The plaintiff in that case specifically alleged that Akhemetshin strategically planted negative articles about the plaintiff in various publications, and encouraged non-profit organizations to write letters to Congress about the plaintiff that they later had to retract when they realised they had been "misled".

Gumpendorf · 17/07/2017 11:42

Thanks for fixing that, perking Flowers

The formatting was a feature of my cutting and pasting from twitter to MN app. I didn't bold purposely.

PerkingFaintly · 17/07/2017 11:51

So my question is, who is paying Akhmetshin for his work at the Don Jr meetings?

Political campaigns do do opposition research, and pay for that. They hire experienced investigators, including people with an intelligence background. So far so normal (if distasteful).

But who is paying Akhmetshin? Who is his client, regardless of whether payment is monetary or in kind?

Not the machinery of the Republican party or the Trump campaign, otherwise he wouldn't have had to turn to a British publicist of a Russian pop-singer to get a meeting with the Trump team.

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 13:41

In other words. Whatever his activities, someone still has to fork out for eg utility bills. So who is paying - ultimately - for the leccy? Smile

orlantina · 17/07/2017 13:54

No tweets yet. I wonder if he's having a lie in?

AcrossthePond55 · 17/07/2017 14:01

cozie I think that all roads lead to Moscow (and Putin) when it comes to who is paying for what. It's a very circuitous road with many dead ends and blind corners, but if you manage to 'follow the money' I think you'll end up at the Kremlin.

Sean Spicer will give today's press briefing at 2PM ET. It will be off-camera again.

Lweji · 17/07/2017 14:46

I was getting all excited, then saw it was off camera. SAD.

Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That's politics!

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 15:52

Well that pretty well illustrates his moral compass.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 17/07/2017 15:53

Still doesn't understand his legal responsibilities as a candidate, I see. Berk!

BiglyBadgers · 17/07/2017 16:46

Some keen young thing needs to ring round all the politicians and ask them if they would in fact attend a meeting with a known Russian agent offering them compromising material on their political opponents. I would love to hear the GOP senators answer this question without either implicating themselves or disagreeing with Trump. Just for the lolz. Grin

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 16:54

Thanks, Roussette. That may bear some research but it's nonetheless interesting.
