and heading off

Little incentive to stay for yet more ghoulish car-crash style rubbernecking and virtue signaling. Helping the situation by reporting posts on FB? Get a grip. If the CA page is outrageous, don't go and spend hours reading it.

Zoflorabore · 12/07/2017 21:00

muckypup- I was just going to share the same! Seems someone may have had a telling off...

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 21:01

This is the first ever message from the family that is measured and accurate, in response the Circus slating their legal team

"We are very happy with our legal team, they picked it up after the first case and are working pro bono. They have put hundreds of hours into trying to save Charlie and have been a huge, efficient and effective support network for the whole family, in particular Chris and Connie. Sadly, court isn't like TV or Judge Judy where you can just shout out at people, however frustrating, because it isn't like that. There are protocols to follow in order to get the point across. I think we'd all agree, pissing off the judge by not following this respectfully would be far from what we're trying to achieve.

I know it is annoying, trust me I sit through the court hearings, but our legal team really do know what they're doing and we appreciate their help.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!"

muckypup73 · 12/07/2017 21:01

TartanDMs, really? how ridicolous!, I think I got blocked fromthe barmy army so I couldnt see much, so got another alias and can see now lol

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:01

Gina Millar reported posts about her on Facebook which is leading to a conviction. Sorry you don;t think it is useful Claire. Not so sorry you are off, since you are not being very constructive.

Claire I have followed all the threads, first time I have posted. They have all been, by and large, compassionate and informative but above all realistic about Charlie's life expectancy and quality of life. There have been extremely moving posts from parents who have experienced what Charlie's parents are going through, offering a perspective most of us are in the fortunate position not to have. They have also rightly praised GOSH. When there is absolute nonsense being thrown around elsewhere on the net, surely somewhere there has to be a rational discussion to counteract that.

Nobody, nobody has sneered at the parents but yes, they are concerned that they are vulnerable and possibly being exploited. That concern comes from a position of compassion and empathy, not one of snobbery.

zeezeek · 12/07/2017 21:01

Glad to see the update on lonely's dd.

This case is in the public domain because the family put it there. It is reported in the media and discussed in here, Facebook and probably other fora as well. The genie can now not be put back into the bottle because some people have been critical of the parents and of the way it has been handled. It is a sad fact of life these days that if people do that then they are going to have to put up with hearing criticism.

I realise that it is harsh, but this entire charade could have been prevented had the parents not sought validation from the general public.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 21:02

Rhodiolia Was it Laura Gard who posted that?

curuncule · 12/07/2017 21:02

@Rhodiolia and @Lonelymummyof1 what a lovely update! continued good wishes Flowers

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:02

Bit of a sad place the world would be if no-one tried to change anything or report abuse. Shrugs.

muckypup73 · 12/07/2017 21:02

Rhodiolia, wow!!!!! seems like they are realising.

muckypup73 · 12/07/2017 21:03

zeezeek, I agree.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 21:04

Does anybody care what people like Claire or that Twat woman who pops up every 10 pages think about them? I'm happy in my conscience so I just read their little virtue-signalling posts and move on.

LeMesmer · 12/07/2017 21:04

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:04

Maybe Claire mistook the comments about CA for being about the parents? Not sure.

OP posts:
Zoflorabore · 12/07/2017 21:06

clairewilliams why are you here then?

Your initial post is so contradictory, I'm presuming you're a fully paid up member of the barmy army?

Why on earth shouldn't we have these threads? Mumsnet HQ would zap them in a flash if they thought that it wasn't "in the spirit of Mumsnet"

Unlike CA, we have people behind the scenes who are actually intelligent, who can spell and who know their members will often have differences of opinion but deal with it like adults and with respect to each other.
CA clearly states that unless you agree with them then you're not welcome.
Don't ruin the thread please!

DuchessofManchester · 12/07/2017 21:06

Lonelymummy what wonderful news. Hope you're enjoying cuddles with your ballerina!
I've sent a message of support to GOSH and received a lovely reply. Can only hope they're helping staff at this difficult time. I really feel for all the other patients and their families at GOSH at the moment.

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:06

Good plan Daily. We must not forget we are after all in AIBU (I forget sometimes due to the measured responses on these posts) and there are those types who do stuff like that! Maybe it's to remind us where we are Wink

Time to move on...

OP posts:
LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:07

Would never have continued into 5 threads if wasn't a sensible discussion.

I still can't feel anything but sympathy for the parents here.

They have a true belief that Charlie is ok, or at least will be with some miracle treatment.

They are so very desperate to believe that.

I know, I've been there twice.

What they have that I didn't was thousands upon thousands of people, some claiming to be medical experts, some scientists, some people who are spouting conspiracy theories left, right and centre backing up my delusions.

The 'army' are truly to blame for this.

I said on a previous thread that the motivation for the parents is apparent, they are desperate for their boy to be ok.

The motivation for the 'army' is actually nothing to do with Charlie or the parents. It's purely self serving. They don't want to believe that their decisions as parents can be over ridden. They want to live in a world where if something happens to your child, money or a social media campaign will fix it.

They are deluded and using the grief of two people in a very fucked up place who are trying to put off the inevitable path a bereaved parent walks every day to make themselves feel in control of their own children, lives and families.

I truly have nothing but sympathy for Charlie's parents and I feel nothing but pity for the fact that they are being used like they are.

The 'army' should have been quietly supportive, make all the right noises about the unfairness of life and maybe fundraised or used this power they seem to have to make something positive come from his memory.

I hope Charlie can go on his path as peacefully as possible.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 21:08

LovelyBath77 Yes! Not a typical AIBU thread, is it?

I hope this doesn't sound creepy but I really want to see a picture of Lonelymummy's little ballerina. She sounds wonderful.

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:10

Just had the following message from GOSH via FB:

Thank you for getting in touch and for your message of support for the hospital staff. Kind words really are appreciated at the moment. It's a terrible time for Charlie's family and everyone touched by his situation, but we are doing everything we can to support them. The support of the Mumsnet community has been very touching and valued by us all - the messages received have truly made a huge difference to staff in the hospital over many difficult days. Thanks again, and best wishes.

Nquartz · 12/07/2017 21:10

Daily, me too. She sounds amazing

NerrSnerr · 12/07/2017 21:11

What concerns me is that I have read lots of posts about him looking like a healthy boy and how he just needs a bit of medication to cure him. His extended family and other members of the group clearly know how poorly he is but no one seems to correct them. I think there are people who just don't realise how unwell Charlie is and truly believe that GOSH are letting him die needlessly. I know the answer is for everyone to do their own research but we all know that some people can't or won't do that and will believe it if they've read it on Facebook.

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 21:12

I'll post that on the other thread about the hospital too as think they might like to hear that.
