i dont thnk she would change her view now

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 20:30

I'll catch up tomorrow after 10.30. in the courts. I am sure someone here, or some tweeter will update.

I just hope the thread doesn't turn.

I think you know what I mean.

Anyway....

alpacasandwich · 12/07/2017 20:31

Not that I expected a bunfight on Radio 4 of course.

Tbf Moral Maze often is, it's why I like it Grin

leghoul · 12/07/2017 20:31

They won't be given leave to appeal, surely. They've been all the way to Strasbourg and not got the outcome they want, and there has never been any unique point of law at issue here. This is not in some way a unique case - sadly, really quite a few parents have to go through what C&C are (myself included) and it's horrific but sometimes life support is withdrawn because of the child's condition and prognosis. If you scour the internet hard enough almost anyone will find an experimental therapy for something somewhere on a paper published somewhere. The comments about those whose children do die when life support is withdrawn are utterly deplorable.

Sostenueto · 12/07/2017 20:32

No it would not make it better if she was crying mommagee, but what I did not add was this was the second d baby she had lost with same condition, same scenario. She also has another child with bad cleft and hair lip and only allowed her to have the preliminary surgery saying she didnt want to put her precious 'bear' as she calls her, through anymore surgery. The child is 5. Now do you think this is a case of the parents know best? I wish I hadn't put the post on. I'll shut up now.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/07/2017 20:33

I hope for the parents if it does go the likely way they're supported by the right people. Step away from social media don't have anyone posting status/updates/whipping posts like the sister in law has and support them!

Sad thing is they'll be people on that site trying to make it about them and how sad they are about it..already is.

5achel · 12/07/2017 20:33

Someone's just posted this on twitter

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 20:34

the drama of all this appears to have ignored the dying child.

A lot of the drama is about the posters, the parents, the hangers on, not anyone else. I hope I am wrong.

Judge Francis will decide tomorrow. And we must accept that judgment whatever it is.

leghoul · 12/07/2017 20:34

There's some extraordinary waffling on R4 at the moment

redshoeblueshoe · 12/07/2017 20:35

yes its been a while since I've listened to the Moral Maze, but I'm sure they used to like a good bunfight.

Ta1kinPeace · 12/07/2017 20:35

Sirzy
Rare diseases are both depressing and fascinating for hospitals.
I just did a "scholarly" search for a particular disease and was able to identify a friend's case referenced in two articles - its that rare.
Hence the staff will always remember the steps along the path with the patient.

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 20:35

@sostenueto there are some people who like to put their whole lives on fb.
I am not one of them, although I do use it a lot, and can understand why you said what you did.
There is no right or wrong in this situation.

DarthMaiden · 12/07/2017 20:35

Any legal people - can they still appeal after tomorrow?

Given the number of proceedings I'm unsure legally where this can go.

It can't keep going up and down the chain of courts forever surely?

TinselTwins · 12/07/2017 20:36

Sad thing is they'll be people on that site trying to make it about them and how sad they are about it..already is

Totally! Lots of people talking about their own feelings. This is all about their own bubble of mass hysteria

Sostenueto · 12/07/2017 20:36

P.s the longest living child recorded with the condition was 5. They usually die within the first few weeks its tresime 13 syndrome on the downs syndrome spectrum.

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 20:37

Just wanted to give an update on Lonelymummyof1 DD - "That felt like forever ❤they managed to get a line ( took a while 🙈) they have given her a double line with two lumens for diff things to go through instead of her old one lumen which will be strange.
She is doing okayish , her obs are not great she and her heart is very slow they are warming tpn as we speak and putting it up ASAP which will hopefully make her feel better.
We need to still get rid of these 3 difterent bacterias so she is currently on 3 ivabs and an anti fungal iv.
Then we need a plan about where we go from here how we keep her as stable as possible regarding her bacteria colinizations/ bone marrow and line access
But for now ..I still have my perfect lil ballerina 😍"

Sostenueto · 12/07/2017 20:38

Can't spell to right bad case of morphine kicking in but us on line. Am waffling.

leghoul · 12/07/2017 20:38

It can go to the court of appeal if given leave to appeal. It cannot go to the Supreme Court unless it's on a point of law, not a point of fact. Once appeals exhausted in the UK it can go to Strasbourg but it's been there in record breaking time for Strasbourg and again unless there is a unique point of law or some institutional infringements of rights from the UK (including from courts) no it can't.

DarthMaiden · 12/07/2017 20:39

@5achel

Maybe a sign that they have totally misjudged the contempt by which they have treated GOSH???

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 20:39

Forgive me if someone has done this already, but just caught up with the post and the reporting - I messaged GOSH via Facebook to send the NICU staff kind thoughts and also to mention the threatening messages on these groups and that we Mumsnet members have reported these and they have also been reported to met police. And i also mentioned that in the case of Gina Millar that she herself reported the messages she had to the police, in case they also wanted to follow it up. Hope that is OK.
