The hunz and American fundamentalist nut jobs are also on GOSH Twitter. I have made a twitter account to try to counteract some of it and send some supportive messages, which have been 'liked' by GOSH.

I'm not a very good twitterer though, so would be good if some who,are could head over there.

I've also asked MNHQ to withdraw the post where I mistakenly thought the awful song was by Charlie's father, rather than his grandfather.

yolofish · 11/07/2017 22:42

'Fighting' implies losing. Sometimes, 'losing' is the best possible response, or the only possible response in an impossible situation. My best friend's daughter 'lost' 6 days after her 19th birthday, having 'fought' for 2.5 years. Hence the charity, so she wouldnt become just another statistic. But poor Charlie: really, if a pet dog was being treated as he is there would be an outcry, and rightly so. Life is not worth living without quality of life.

GabsAlot · 11/07/2017 22:44

ive tweetd GOSH to praise them for theyre ongoing work-theres already too many tasteless comments on their page

smilingmind · 11/07/2017 22:45

So I no doubt being very stupid but what is the MSM that the petition has been reported to ?

muckypup73 · 11/07/2017 22:45

TheWeeWitch, I hope the same tit will be there when charlie dies.................. beyond unreal.

Edsheeranalbumparty · 11/07/2017 22:45

That girl who they have posted the video of......she is obviously a completely different case to Charlie, she can hear and maybe even see, and she has some movement. Charlie has none of those things.

And she still died.

God this is so horrible. I really do feel for his parents, but Christ that poor boy, what must it be like for him? He is trapped in a dark, silent world completely unable to move or communicate anything whilst his body is trying to let go with increasing desperation it seems.

Charlie's Army really can fuck off, they are so clueless. All those chunky monkey posts, they just don't get it. I didn't realise that every single post was being moderated but that makes sense now reading it, as there is nothing even questioning any of their ridiculous rhetoric getting posted on there.

yolofish · 11/07/2017 22:46

OMG I've just read the nutjob quote on the previous page: no possible words.

Lexieblue · 11/07/2017 22:46

@mistify the judges job is to apply the law and weigh up strength of evidence, naturally he will weigh the hierarchy of evidence and give due weight on it's reliability ie credentials of those providing it in the case of expert opinion. He does not need to understand the medical case per se. He only has to understand the legalities; whether on the balance of probabilities what is the best course of action for Charlie
That being said I do not doubt the judge will have researched the condition.
Judges rule on issues they are not expert in all the time I imagine but they are experts in the law.

Its a very complicated case and I think whichever way it goes will set precedent.

redshoeblueshoe · 11/07/2017 22:49

On another point, sadly C&C do not understand how the media works. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next week, but when the media turn (which I believe they will) then they will be in an even worse situation than they are now.

5achel · 11/07/2017 22:49

Im not very good at this stuff but can anyone think of a good hashtag to send support to GOSH ?

Looking at twitter the #GOSH alone has a few supporters but mainly being drowned out with the murderous comments

This cant go on. How can we show GOSH support though without sounding uncaring?

How about #thankyouGOSH or something? Anyone?

muckypup73 · 11/07/2017 22:50

Edsheeranalbumparty, I do not think I would like to live in a cold, dark, lonley, misrable world, being trapped and not being able to tell peopleyou are in agony, that is just heartbreaking.

5achel · 11/07/2017 22:51

what must it be like for him? He is trapped in a dark, silent world completely unable to move or communicate anything whilst his body is trying to let go with increasing desperation it seems

That made me cry. How bloody bloody awful, i dont know him but im crying at the thought of this, it must stop

Rachel0Greep · 11/07/2017 22:53

I am worry that that they giving him "medication" to push him faster to an end I do not trust them .gosh and court playing games to waste more time so they can push deliberately little charlie where they want him.they are so many dirty people involve from different services gosh court media lawyers the lot to many @@@@@ outside there killing us for our own good .we surrounding by evil .

There are no words... (The above is from the Facebook page). It's actually scary, the mob mentality on there.

hashtagtubechat · 11/07/2017 22:53

I thought babies that are ventilated are automatically given morphine to keep them sedated and comfortable? Not sure whether this applies to Charlie but my lg was ventilated twice (two weeks after birth as her lungs couldn't cope and for a few days aftera surgery) and both times she was given morphine . I'm a bit surprised he hasn't been on it for longer tbh

My baby girl needed a surgery and had to spend a few days in GOSH NICU at the beginning of March. The care was second to none and thanks to their team we were able to get her off oxygen and take her home four weeks later. We met Connie and her mum during our stay there, I think it was around the time their story was published for the first time in DM. The NICU is one open plan space separed by curtains so anyone taking photographs would be seriously disrupting other patients and their carers. At the time Charlie was in the far end of the room, in the corner, his bed all lit up and decorated. We spoke to Connie briefly and she praised the staff and doctors but was unhappy that the management weren't listening to her, even then she was convinced the treatment will work and that Charlie's not in pain. NICU is terribly isolating place and I felt so desperately sorry for her. I'm really surprised their relationship with the hospital is so bad now, GOSH really do everything possible to help you get through it all (accommodation nearby, psychologist to speak to etc).

Rhodiolia · 11/07/2017 22:55

Living at your sick child's hospital bedside is expensive, especially when you can't work and your benefits are stopped because you can't leave your child's side to attend "interviews". However, I think Charlie's parents have had plenty of help already, and there are hundreds of other parents needing that support.

I have one FB friend right now, sitting at her sick child's bedside and struggling to afford to eat. There will be many others too. I have sent her some money, though she never asked for it, as I cannot even imagine how awful the situation is. It makes me sad that this one family are being lavished with so much money for treats etc, when so many others can't even afford a sandwich :(

MissTify · 11/07/2017 22:57

Thank you so much Lexieblue for your really clear explanation. I understand it all a lot better now thanks to you. Flowers

Rabbitnothare · 11/07/2017 22:59

The GOSH lawyer says that a lot of the research quoted in the letter is not new.

Katie Gollop QC said: 'Some of this new evidence that was said to be new is not new', adding references in the seven scientists' letter referred to research in 2003, 2007, 2012 and 2014

MommaGee · 11/07/2017 22:59

hashtagtubechat that's my assumption too re morphine. Even when it was low enough to allow DS to be responsive and move, he was still on morphine initially then whatever they replace it with before they get addicted so if assume he moat be on something or so very very poorly that there's no risk...

muckypup73 · 11/07/2017 22:59

Rhodiolia, that truly is heartbreaking.

PoppyPopcorn · 11/07/2017 23:00

So desperately sad. Poor wee mite. Totally agree that parents are not In a good place and don't appear to have family or friends keeping them grounded and with a clear sense of what's important.

As for the conspiracy theories- crazy. That barmy army lot seem to think GOSH and the legal system are out to kill, but why would they think that? What reason could the doctors have for wanting to do away with a "healthy" child? It makes no sense. Having said that, and having looked at the FB page, critical thinking isn't a skill these hunz seem to have. Or indeed spelling, grammar or expressing yourself in English.

Ellie56 · 11/07/2017 23:00

Apparently, the video of Lillian Luttrell is "dramatic evidence", and Mr Justice Francis should watch it. Hmm

redshoeblueshoe · 11/07/2017 23:01

hashtag I hope your lo is doing well now. Realistically we don't know how long CG has been on morphine, GOSH have to keep confidential about a patients treatment, the parents however can say whatever they like

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 11/07/2017 23:02

I'm a bit surprised he hasn't been on it for longer tbh

We don't know that he hasn't because rightly so the doctors are bound by confidentiality and the parents have chosen not to share this information prior. Its likely yes been on it for a while.

Lexieblue · 11/07/2017 23:03

You're welcome misstify it's not my area at all but that is my understanding of it x

Rabbitnothare · 11/07/2017 23:03

Oh the barmy army are quite funny at times, apparently they want the fund raising money and that's why they won't let him leave the hospital.

These people walk amongst us.
