wee witch yes, but it isn't really new info, or is it? Weren't the courts already aware of this, previously, or not? Is there something new in there?

As an ICU nurse, I can only echo what other HCPs have said on here. We are not robots, we have feelings and do genuinely care about our patients. To say that we are professional and protected is true to some extent, but nothing can ever prepare you for being called a murderer.

I was going to have muffins sent to the PICU staff there (cake always goes down well), but I wondered if they would be rejected unfortunately because of the risk of poisoning and the threats made towards staff.

redshoeblueshoe · 11/07/2017 22:08

yes mucky and if I remember correctly you were unfairly berated for that

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:09

Angelnix. Maybe just a card in solidarity would be nice.

I hope the judge says thats it no more time, they got the 3 months they wanted for all their rellys to say goodbye and all they have done is wasted it protesting, the judge needs to say thats it no more.

Rabbitnothare · 11/07/2017 22:10

I am certain that the info is not new, I will try to find the statement by the scientist.

What I am not sure of is whether it was presented to the court.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:11

surely it would have been in the hands of GOSH? so will have been seen already? Not sure though.

The judge has said he needs evidence that brain damage can be reversed.

GabsAlot · 11/07/2017 22:11

thats why i think this claim of new evidence is just a stalling tactic for them -maybe i would do the same i dont know but the army are out of control and taking things out of context

i rally hope the judge puts an end to this thursday

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:11

Or for anyone else wanting to send good wishes to GOSH staff, there is an email on the website. Or FB page.

OP posts:
LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:12

I see. So not just that the med may cross into the brain but that the damage can be reversed. But CA don't think he has brain damage.

OP posts:
muckypup73 · 11/07/2017 22:12

Theres no way on earth brain damage can be reversed,if that was the case more storke victims and blood clot victims would be living.

muckypup73 · 11/07/2017 22:14

Sorry stroke victims lol

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:15

Ok so the letter seems to say there is strong evidence it may ameliorate depletion (and therefore stop progression I guess) however, this means may stop it progressing, whereas in Charlie's case it already has. Would that be correct? I'm no expert.

OP posts:
TheWeeWitch · 11/07/2017 22:15

It's something about the blood brain barrier - one of the doctor/scientists now believes that perhaps the drug can pass the barrier so he felt he should say so. BUT there's an article somewhere on these threads with quotes from him now distancing himself from saying it "will" work, to saying they can't be certain it won't work.... Etc...

So essentially I think that we will find out that it's not new evidence, but further supportive speculation that the treatment "might work". Unless they've anything else that they haven't yet leaked to everyone.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:15

Which would be why GOSH wanted to try it originally, before he declined. That would make sense.

OP posts:
goodbyestranger · 11/07/2017 22:16

Yes, I agree. But that sentence was clear in the reporting of Monday's hearing. The possibility of some reversal of brain damage already sustained. I don't think any evidence available will cut that criterion, from what we've heard and seen.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:16

I guess it doesn't matter if it can or cannot cross if the brain is beyond the stage of repair. He would then just be used as a sort of experiment.

OP posts:
Rabbitnothare · 11/07/2017 22:17

Sorry, I am trying to find the statement, someone posted a link on an older thread.

One of them spoke out that he had sent the info in a letter to Connie, he did not know whether it had been used in court.

This was in May, they then wrote directly to the hospital in early July.

So, I don't know whether the judge will accept it or not.

I will keep looking, must be using the wrong key words tonight.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:18

I can see more clearly the link to what they keep saying about how they don't believe the brain damage now.

OP posts:
LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:18

GOSH said they had been given new info 'in only the last few days' (something like that anyway) so that must be referring to this, I guess.

The Judge will decide now.

This case has been everywhere. Every court too,

The child is paramount.

Poor little pawn.

5achel · 11/07/2017 22:19

Great letter @smilingmind I will do the same
any other ideas anyone?
A tweet of support for them #thankyouGOSH or something?

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 22:21

Maybe could have a GOSH support and thanks FB page / group. No on the other hand...might be a battle!

TheWeeWitch · 11/07/2017 22:21

Just checked up on CA one last time before bed. Laura Gard has just posted a video of a child and the comments are all saying things like "look at her, she's a miracle!" "See, Charlie can recover!", but when I followed the link to the child's mother's page it is very clear that the child has passed away Sad

It's sick.
