Geez. Sorry. Cross posted with loads of people.

muckypup73 · 10/07/2017 18:09

LyraTheDaemon, how do you report the page? the police need to seriously look at that page especially when they are talking about killing doctors.

GabsAlot · 10/07/2017 18:10

i cant believe thy start shouting out th hospital are lieing in court

why would they? thy just sound so deluded and that pastor has been arrestd in amrica for his anti abortion rallies just seen him talking about parental rights ffs

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 10/07/2017 18:10

This situation is becoming sadder and scarier every day...

CA logic baffles me though. If you disagree with them you are told 'you're not in the parents position so how do you know what you'd do?' Right alongside 'If you were in their situation you'd do ANYTHING to keep your child alive!' Confused

Totally agree the hate spouting on Twitter and FB is absolutely awful. I've stop getting involed now, but I am apparently both a Nazi and Communist Hmm

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 10/07/2017 18:11

There is no such thing as'parental rights'

Parental rights don't exist

Just responsibilities

Ceto · 10/07/2017 18:11

" I think the only chance of stopping this ow is if we all interviene! we need to get into gosh and take this boy out before its too late! Trump needs to get some doctors here asap to do this with us. i will happily break the law if it means Charlie lives!"

Well, it would certainly stop things, due to the fact that as soon as they disconnect Charlie, or disconnect the ventilator from the power source, in order to take him out, he dies. Unless these doctors Trump sends in are going to storm GOSH with their own ventilator and power source.

But, of course, the reality is that this idiot is sitting comfortably with a phone and has no intention whatsoever of getting off his or her arse to do anything. It's very easy to talk tough in those circumstances.

WankYouForTheMusic · 10/07/2017 18:12

The Army are now turning on the defence team, they let the parents down, why can't they use the £1.4m towards better lawyers (apparently these guys are "Mickey Mouse" lawyers).

To be fair, the question about why they can't spend some of that 2 million on legal costs is a reasonable one. You don't have to be one of the dickheads in CA to wonder that!

I do think the next step is going to be them getting another legal team, though. Again. They're on the second ones so far. Unsurprisingly.

muckypup73 · 10/07/2017 18:14

WankYouForTheMusic, exactlyI reckon they have way over 2 mill now,and yes they can use them, but why arent they??

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/07/2017 18:16

This case is heart breaking for this poor baby.

How the parents can think that sending their terminally ill baby to America to be experimented on is a good idea is completely beyond me.

MsHooliesCardigan · 10/07/2017 18:16

I do have sympathy with anyone who has lost a child. DS1 had whooping cough when he was 3 months old. He went completely blue and didn't breathe for what seemed like forever but was probably less than a minute. It was the worst minute of my life.
However, having a terminally ill child doesn't give you some kind of 'Get out of jail free' card which means that anything you do can be excused.
I can't agree that it's ok to spend more time courting media attention than with your dying child. It's a sad fact that every day there are parents who make the decision to withdraw treatment and allow their child to die with dignity because it is what is in the best interests of that child. None of them have created this kind of media circus around their child. The picture of Charlie posing with his passport actually made me feel ill.
And this whole baying mob mentality and death threats to staff is seriously scary. As an HCP myself, I'm all too aware that we don't always get it right. However it's a huge leap from saying that some doctors and nurses are not very good at their job to this kind of mass delusion that if Charlie had a few doses of this miracle medication, he could go home and lead a perfectly normal life and that there is a conspiracy by GOSH staff to murder him. Why would people who have gone into a profession where their job is to help sick children be plotting to kill him?
What really worries me about this is that there may be parents who have withdrawn life support because they didn't want their child to suffer thinking that maybe they didn't fight hard enough. Flowers to all of you who have shared your stories about your children.

sodablackcurrant · 10/07/2017 18:17

Sorry to be so blunt, but if the child dies before any of the money is used, who gets to keep it? The Lawyers are working pro bono. NHS is free.

I think that's a fair question.

11122aa · 10/07/2017 18:19

Apparently will be donated to a Mitrochondral Charity

meddie · 10/07/2017 18:19

The parents do Soda. CA have been encouraging people to donate direct to the parents bank account. In the deluded belief that it will stop just giving taking a percentage. They are going to be in for a shock when HMRC take their percentage

Stopnamechanging · 10/07/2017 18:20

I guess the parents do, there is no record of what is where, there was a separate fund direct to their bank accounts for living costs.

As long as people knew what they were giving for, fair enough.

Didn't someone give their life savings or sell their house or something?

muckypup73 · 10/07/2017 18:20

MsHooliesCardigan, I couldnt agree more.

muckypup73 · 10/07/2017 18:21

11122aa, Ilike the apparently bit.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/07/2017 18:21

(BBC) interviewed someone ... who said that at one point a text had been read out from Charlie's mum's phone in response to the judge requesting the new evidence

I'd really like to think that interviewee was mistaken .. does anyone really believe some nonsense on a phone is sufficient evidence in a situation like this??!!

LyraTheDaemon · 10/07/2017 18:25

@muckypup73 If you go on the page and click on view group info, right at the bottom of the page there's a report button. I have no idea if Facebook will say if it's breaking their guidelines but the more reports the better. I agree with the police but I'm not sure how it could be passed on?

Maudlinmaud · 10/07/2017 18:25

I believe that happened Puzzled. Nothing surprises me anymore.

thatdearoctopus · 10/07/2017 18:26

It would be almost amusing to be a fly on the wall in the offices of the lawyers acting for the Gards this evening. Bet the air is blue.

fakenamefornow · 10/07/2017 18:29

I'm going to defend CA and the parents here.

I remember a few years ago a regular poster's child developed cancer. MN were great. They ran a campaign to find a stem cell donor, I'm sure lots of other stuff in the background. Lots of threads followed, hundreds of posters really hoping for the family and sending loads of good wishes and those local to the family providing practical help. I was so sad following those threads and reading about the progression of the child's illness. When it came to the last few days most posters were posting stuff along the lines of 'keep fighting' 'it's not your time yet'. I remember one poster came on and wrote a powerful post asking posters to please stop this. That the medics don't give up easily and will have exhausted all hope and that the parents must be allowed to hear this message. Thankfully other posters didn't continue telling the parents not to give up or look for other treatments.

The parents and those supporting them probably aren't hearing the message gosh are giving them, ffs, they even have Donald Trump and the Pope telling them to keep fighting! Awful case for all concerned. Actually, awful for most, some of CA looked like they were having a great day out and as for DT and the Pope,. Grrrr.

Stopnamechanging · 10/07/2017 18:30

Gallop QC said that she had received a letter from them threatening judicial review if GOSH did not consider new evidence.

sodablackcurrant · 10/07/2017 18:31

Sorry, I would not donate to this for anything.

Plenty of parents have to travel long distances and pay extortionate parking fees/accommodation costs/childminding for other kids, when their child is very ill or dying.

This kind of money only leads to disaster, and sorry, I don't think it is the right channel for the money.

Stopnamechanging · 10/07/2017 18:32

fakenamefornow I remember that, all I can say is that I did not join in and it was nothing in comparison to threatening to kill Drs and nurses, plus accusations of attempted nurder etc.

DorotheaBeale · 10/07/2017 18:32

It would be almost amusing to be a fly on the wall in the offices of the lawyers acting for the Gards this evening. Bet the air is blue.

I said upthread I should think their counsel, Mr Armstrong, is furious. I should think they'll be saying that if the parents want them to continue to represent them, as a minimum they must stay off social media and stop giving interviews.
