To love my fantasy little house that I live in alone

I love my DP dearly and would not really change anything, but I lived alone for 7 years before we got together and I miss it!
In my mind I have my own fantasy little cottage with a little courtyard garden, I stay in my big bed with loads of decorative pillows and cushions on, drinking out of my beautiful handpainted mug.
I eat whatever I want whenever I want and never have to share it. Everything is decorated entirely to my taste and whims and I treat myself to a lovely cake which is displayed under a glass dome on the kitchen side for me to return to when I want.
Everything is clean and tidy and I have a long bath every evening.
I love my little fantasy - it helps me while away many a walk home from work. Anyone the same?

I have a small hopding, in the wilds of Scotland, but close enough to a village so that i am well known in the pub, local shop and post office. I have several dogs and a few goats. I do not butcher meat, i run my smallholding as an animal sanctuary. My postman usually calls whilst I am out walking dogs and cooks us both up a full English Monday - Friday. Tye pub is a community pub and i work there on a Friday night.
I am frquently snowed in, but have a supply of logs and generate my own electricity via solar panels and a windmill thingy. I have a wee, so have my own water supply too.
I won £500,000 on the lottery just before moving here, so have a nice monthly income.

No one wants to know what we are eating tonight, or complains about wet dog smell, or tells me, in great detail about every ache and pain.

My fantasy world is bliss 😉

Reading this back, i am getting quite concerned about DH's future

But Karma, the vet, who is my closest neighbour, and is an Aussie called Ned pops in every afternoon to give me an update on his love life (all the local singles are trying to catch him). I could not entertain both at the same time!

dementedma · 04/07/2017 14:50

My cottage has a view of the sea and the smell of salt in the air. I walk on the beach in all weathers collecting sea glass and drift wood.
The cottage is full of books, and candles, and colourful rugs and cushions ...and at least one cat.
The stars at night are amazing because there is no light pollution and there is a path through my small garden with a gate and steps which lead down to the beach.

Oh ffs, I HAVE A WELL, not a wee for water supplies.

Starting to be concerned that Scotland won't let me in.....

crochetmonkey69 · 04/07/2017 14:52

I live in the middle of everywhere, work, town and my favourite coffee shop are all 10 mins walk away.
I have a friendly neighbour with an old english sheepdog that I look after now and again.
I love this thread already! thank you for letting me share my daydream!
It has actually inspired me to make a few little changes at home (going to look for a lovely mug this weekend)

Yes, he does Karma. But not every day, sometimes he brings an orphan lamb, snuggled under his arran jumper, for me to care for 😆

Didiusfalco · 04/07/2017 14:54

I have Pinterest boards dedicated to my fantasy house. Nothing grand, but lots of bookcases, comfy chairs and real wood furniture. it's good to dream

flapjackfairy · 04/07/2017 14:56

Mine is a cottage in the highlands of scotland with lovely views across the valley and no neighbours.
It is always snowing and i sit by the log burner watching large flakes fall silently all night and then sleep all day.
In fact some days i dont get out of bed at all and lie with the curtains open and just look out on a beautiful winter wonderland.
Ah bliss !
This is my daydream whenever i cant sleep or i have had enough of people !
Just need a lottery win now 😀

Monkeypuzzle32 · 04/07/2017 15:00

Me too! In my fantasy fridge there is a giant bar of Cadburys that I take a month to eat rather than a night (by him).

BarnsligRav · 04/07/2017 15:01

I haven't had this before now but now I can't think of any thing better!

My own home has a CLEANER (I also won the lottery and can spend my time earning minimal money for worthwhile pursuits) so while I keep on top of the tidying - easy with only my stuff - I can come home to a sparkling bathroom and kitchen. I have fresh flowers everywhere at all times, and beautiful scented candles for the evenings. It's near enough to the sea that at night I can hear waves. I have friendly, fun neighbours close enough that I can have a boozy night at theirs and stumble home afterwards, but not so close that if I decided to entertain a gentleman caller, I wouldn't have to worry about the noise.

Actually it's very similar to an airbnb that DH and I stayed in a few years ago. Except without DH. I can see myself revisiting this often, thanks OP!

I have THREE fantasy houses [greedy emoticon]

My first house IS old on the outside but modernised inside, light and bright, and is in the countryside, with birdsong and a cottage garden with a stream running through it. It's got open fires and a huge aga and thick ancient walls with built in window seats and it's full of fresh flowers and it's perhaps near the sea. I like to mentally go here to potter and read jane Austen novels and bake cakes and embroider and go for bracing country walks.

My second house is an Edwardian one in a hustling beautiful city- a flat would do - with high ceilings and original tiled fireplaces and bay windows with stained glass inserts and a cluttered, arty feel. Floor to ceiling bookshelves and handmade stuff and paintings everywhere. I go here to write my thesis and read Henry james and have long, animated philosophical discussions with my friends and make my own quirky, bohemian clothes. I definitely own a pair of floral doc martens in this house.

My third house is a sleek modern flat or a huge loft overlooking manhattan with its own cocktail bar and huge glass windows with a breathtaking view of the city. Basically a flat at the top of the Empire State building Grin I host sophisticated parties here and listen to my new wave vinyl collection and drink expensive whisky and write avantgarde poetry.

In reality I live in a two bed semi in the suburbs Grin

Can I just say I love that you've thought about this so precisely, but to ask whether the noise you're thinking of is his car leaving indiscreetly at dawn, or orgasmic shrieks of OHHHHH GOD!!!! wafting across the fields from your bedroom window? Grin

crochetmonkey69 · 04/07/2017 15:17

I want a second home in Manhattan now. I will have a quirky loft apartment in Greenwich Village. It's all bohemian and cool and I get a fresh bagel from the cafe downstairs every morning.

Definitely a turret. Big enough to lounge in with a kindle and sketch pad, with a view over a rocky beach and stormy sea one side, and far away mountains and pretty vales on the other. sigh
