To love my fantasy little house that I live in alone

I love my DP dearly and would not really change anything, but I lived alone for 7 years before we got together and I miss it!
In my mind I have my own fantasy little cottage with a little courtyard garden, I stay in my big bed with loads of decorative pillows and cushions on, drinking out of my beautiful handpainted mug.
I eat whatever I want whenever I want and never have to share it. Everything is decorated entirely to my taste and whims and I treat myself to a lovely cake which is displayed under a glass dome on the kitchen side for me to return to when I want.
Everything is clean and tidy and I have a long bath every evening.
I love my little fantasy - it helps me while away many a walk home from work. Anyone the same?

I have a cottage by the sea with huge windows so I can see the wild waves, and a lovely open fire to keep me warm inside.

Incitatus · 04/07/2017 15:24

In mine, somebody comes round each day and puts another toilet roll on the holder so
I don't have to keep looking at the cardboard inner tube.

Oh I dream about this all the time. A very small cottage in Scotland with two bedrooms, one for me, the other a wee studio/craft place, also for me. Woodburning stove, quirky decor, small garden with pretty flowers and a wee sun trap to lounge on whilst looking at sea/river/loch. Bird table with lots of different birds and visiting squirrels and pine martens. A small wardrobe with just the basic clothes. Matching socks that don't get mixed up with other socks. A space as you come in for my shoes. An outbuilding for fun things like my bike, wetsuit, skis etc and a storage area for associated clothing. My cat! Shelves full of books ...........

Nousernameforme · 04/07/2017 15:24

I have found my people.

Mine too is in scotland the highlands or the outer hebrides but something covered in heather and with hills in the distance. It's small and round not dissimilar to hagrids hut but on enough land to have a beautiful 1920's style glass pool house which is heated but not too warm and has ivy crawling up the glass panes. I have the walls covered in books and a wood burning stove for cooking and heating. A wooden spiral staircase to the attic/bedroom. Which has a bed full of white eleventymillion thread count cotton that's been well washed and ironed by someone else. Oh and the well worn broken in sofa is covered in blankets and I have a dog some sort of spaniel mix who is adorably scatty.
I know it's just a dream that gets me through the washing up but wouldn't it be wonderful just as a holiday

YANBU OP. I have a fantasy of living in a really teeny tiny house, all wood and layers of of white fabric, piles of books everywhere and a beautiful kitchen.

I would potter around looking gorgeously disheveled in my oversized jumper and expensive pyjamas, reading and watering plants. Obviously I am also three stone slimmer.

One day I will do this. If DH is lucky I might let him share Wink

Tazerface · 04/07/2017 15:32

Mine is a flat or a house which is simultaneously in the middle of nowhere and also in central London Grin

TealStar · 04/07/2017 15:41

What a lovely thread.

Mine is a bothy in Cumbria with views over a lake (haven't decided which one yet) or is next to a small river or stream which can be heard while lying in my crisp cotton comfy bed with the window open.

It has a red Aga, flagstone floors, a pantry, and lots of books. A boot room/porch and a log store.

I live there with my dog and might even keep a pony in the paddock.

TealStar · 04/07/2017 15:42

I think we should all move in together 😂

Tazerface · 04/07/2017 15:43

Teal - no way get your own space! Grin

TealStar · 04/07/2017 15:45

I have an old country house in Tuscany which was run down when I bought it but thanks to my very speedily becoming fluent in Italian, I managed to get refurbished exactly to my tastes. I use the annex for a bed and breakfast business but only when it suits me. Often, I just let friends come over for free and sometimes stay in there myself at night, just for the hell of it. Two days a week I go to the local food market and pick up all my fresh ingredients for the week and some local wine. I've got Netflix and spend days binge watching box sets. I've got feather down quilts AND pillows from John Lewis and really expensive quilt covers. I found a lovely man in a nearby town who specialises in delivering hard copies of the Guardian on Saturdays, so much better than reading it on line! I have a vineyard in my garden but don't have to tend it, I don't know who does but they keep it lovely. I have a swimming pool and it is self cleaning. I'm very lucky to also have found a village where all insects become extinct about 300 years ago so I never have to worry about those getting in the way of my enjoyment.

Your houses sound lovely too Smile

cafenoirbiscuit · 04/07/2017 16:01

I have clean ironed bed linen, and a bathroom which smells fabulous, is always clean, has beyoooootiful toiletries and fluffy towels. Voile curtains flow in the breeze. The skylights show the stars at night.....
Bugger. I am too zoned out to get DS from school

thatstoast · 04/07/2017 16:04

I used to have a fantasy lake house in Canada. It was very secluded and always autumn. Decor was mid century modern. Best of all, David Duchovny lived there.

chickensaresafehere · 04/07/2017 16:11

I have a little conch cottage in Old Town Key West in the Florida Keys.
It has air con,a balcony & a dip pool.
I work (when needed) at one of the well known local bars in the harbour where everyone knows me & looks out for me.
I am within walking distance of the beach & take my 2 dogs there everyday.
I live in shorts & a vest top & never need a coat.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 04/07/2017 16:11

Yes, I love my dream house.

It's in the middle of a city, literally everything on my doorstep. The period features make up for the lack of space, but I don't mind it as it's only me and my stuff and two Siamese cats. I don't ever do dishes, tend to a garden, do any laundry other than my own, and I'm always out and about so it stays so clean. And I hardly cook, because every amazing restaurant and take away place is so close by.

Why the fuck don't I live there?!?!

theredjellybean · 04/07/2017 16:12

i have a central london fantasy mews house which is in walking distance of all my fave resturants ( whether south or north of thames ...makes no difference in fantasy land) it has amazing city scape views yet has no noise pollution. It is clean and white and minimalistic...white everything , one huge bed and hidden storage etc.

Then i have a huge fantasy house in cornwall with enough rooms for dds and future dgc....and a lovely garden running down ( gently) to our own private beach , yet it is still in a village were there is a real community, the village pub does not belong to any sleb chef yet produces delicious meals from local produce.
I live here and host wonderful family get togethers, at christmas there is a huge tree and the dgc gather round it looking cerubic and sing carols and say 'granny we love you so much '
my dds and dsds watch on and then tell me over a lovely candlelit supper how they are #soblessed to have this family home...

I would actually have my dp there and we would have 2 dogs ...he would obviously need to go to london lots for work....

he shares same fantasy and actually we are currently looking for the cornwall house....:)

FuckYouLinda · 04/07/2017 16:12

Mine is a beachside house, with doors that open onto my private white sand beach so I can hear the waves lapping as I go to sleep then wake up for a swim in crystal clear waters.

Friendzone · 04/07/2017 16:14

I have a town house on Regents Park. It is magnificent. There are always flowers in vases and shiny marble surfaces. I have a swimming pool in my secluded back garden. Brandon Flowers likes to come round for a dip when he is in town Wink

Tazerface · 04/07/2017 16:17

This is simultaneously sending me totally zen at the descriptions and giving me the RAGE that I'm at work and don't actually have the perfect house to go home to Grin

ofshoes · 04/07/2017 16:18

If we're going to go all out on fantasy then I'm living in frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water and having some sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads swimming around underneath.

Peopleplease · 04/07/2017 16:19

Mine is in Vermont or possibly Maine. It's small and cosy. I have two golden retrievers that don't shed and I walk them in the woods that verge on a lake. Its walking distance to a little town and I buy the papers and go home and make pancakes.

JennyGreenteeth · 04/07/2017 16:21

A minimalistic but cosy house that has steps down to a deserted sandy beach and warm calm sea with dolphins regularly swimming past. I spend most of my time lying in a hammock on the front porch looking at the sea, or reading my kindle with a glass of wine. I have also won the lottery which is handy.

BalloonSlayer · 04/07/2017 16:26

I have a little cottage with a wood-burner too. I have a dog and a cat.

Sometimes DH comes to visit (he is suddenly not allergic to the dog and the cat). While he is travelling to me, it snows. And I worry about the roads becoming unpassable. Ah here he is. He had to abandon the car by the side of the road eventually after manfully helping others. I send him up to have a hot bath and put our dinner in the oven and open the wine.

Sometimes I vary the fantasy and it's me who is coming home in the snow and he has cooked dinner for me.
