To not want to eat Mcd, drink while pg, and watch trash US TV shows

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 04:06

After reading recent threads, I'm wondering where all the educated and informed people on here are?????

Who would like to agree that

1)Mcd suxs not just because of what they serve (because they are menu changing but also because they are a boring chain taking over the world and closing small business, pay minimum wages, make max profits, they are not a restaurant, where's the cutlery and table service, do i need to go on?

  1. Alcohol can harm a baby, and it's not really worth a risk, we shouldn't need to drink while pg

  2. Why does everyone's profile list trash US shows- Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, etc, etc

Rant over, anyone agree? ah just agree with me

exbury- Excellent post Thankyou, and yes it is ahard to avoid Nike, Mcd and the rest, but i like to try and hope that the world can be better.

Maybe I am a comlpete freak, and started an angry thread, but I really like to know how and what people think. Moreover we do need to have all sorts of opinions in the world so why attack me I already know i am a minority.

i think you have had a hard time, well, IMO anyway, because you intimated through wording of your OP , that anyone who did not agree was ill educated and ill informed

guaranteed to get peoples' backs up and make them disagree more vociferously than they might have done.

foxybrown · 23/03/2007 13:08

why "attack" you? Have you forgotten what you said about us?

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 13:10

Still waiting for someone to tell me about Lost though, i need convincing it is worth watching.

Threads digress so much anyway, I thought i'd just start it all off together.

Smash does taste better when it is those crispy lumps you know (have not eaten it since mind you).

Also once crammed a whole tube of Pringles in during a bus ride home one drunken night. Nothing wrong in that but I put them in whole, about 6 at a time, and had blood running from the corners of my mouth where they chafed every time....

octopussyinyummyeastereggs · 23/03/2007 13:12

LOC - you would be thick if you watched Lost remember

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 13:12

foxy-you annoy me more than mcd, read the thread or piss off, sorry but you started with saying you won't read it, so don't comment.

thought you'd read the OP.

Educated and informed people tend not to tell others to p off either.

octopussyinyummyeastereggs · 23/03/2007 13:13

LOL

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 13:14

foxy would you like my pickles???

Most of all, i really love how people attack, but have no opinions of their own.

Comment on original posts. Never mentioned intelligence, and TBH I'm not, just have minority opinions.

octopussyinyummyeastereggs · 23/03/2007 13:19

sorry LOC - took uneducated and ill informed people as thick - maybe a bit of a sweeping gernalisation on my part!

lulumama · 23/03/2007 13:19

LOC..did you read my comment re why i thought you were getting a hard time? cannot believe you told foxy to p*ss off.....think you need to get a sense of perspective.

might be an idea to start a new thread inviting us all to debate the globalisation of certain franchises and the ethical, moral , and other ramifications of that global dominance

rather than telling people to p*ss off

IntergalacticWalrus · 23/03/2007 13:20

I thought you were giving your pickle to me, twinkie.

mytwocents · 23/03/2007 13:20

Wow, so it's ok to judge others AND tell people to piss off?

octopussyinyummyeastereggs · 23/03/2007 13:21

generalisation even!

Oh I do have opinions:

  1. Macdonalds are pretty horrible to eat but the kids love the free toys
  2. PG women (inc me) can drink if they want to
  3. I like ER and all crappy american maternity programmes

Most of all, i really love how people attack, but have no opinions of their own.

pot, kettle and black, spring to mind

invite debate by all means, but don;t spit the dummy if people excercise their right to disagree !!

I almost never eat in McDonalds, and I'm not insane about chains (though Starbacks is an absolutely fantastic place to sit and breastfeed) but people get totally hysterical about it.
Did you actually read the thread about going there twice? the trip was in AUSTRALIA. It entailed two three hour drives down a highway where there were no chi-chi little cafes serving babyccinos and organic vegetable bakes. The school needed to provide a stop for the kids where there were toilets, space for the whole class to sit down, and somewhere that was clean and reliable. The kids could eat porridge for breakfast and salads for tea if they wanted.
McDonalds is totally transparent about what is in its food and how it is cooked. Look at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.
Things are friend in partially hydrogenated rapeseed oil. I imagine they will swap to non-hydrogenated oil in time.

Aloha · 23/03/2007 13:24

Oh, and I like Desperate Housewives. I have just read Alison Weir's biography of Eleanor of Aquitaine and am now vegging out with a Muriel Spark novel.

Katy44 · 23/03/2007 13:26

octo, calm down, you're just hormonal

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 13:26

I'd never get elected would I?

I haven't and I am not judging other's I'm asking for people to agree with my far out and unresonable opinions,

your most welcome to like these things, but why?

lulu - i know, I know, I got rude to Foxy and I did start out meanish, but don't think I'm better in anyway just looking for like minded people.

OP posts:
Tinker · 23/03/2007 13:26

Can I ask, is it ok if people watch trashy UK shows?

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 13:26

Never had so many people wanting my pickle - I feel quite happy but flustered as to actually give it to!!!

Katy44 · 23/03/2007 13:27
