To get my dp to tie dental floss round anal skin tag

chiatta · 02/07/2017 23:28

I have over the past year developed an anal skin tag. GP said that is what it is, and said I could ask to have it removed but it's just 'cosmetic' and will take a while for referral to go through.
It is skinny and long and shaped like a sausage.
My dp says it is off-putting. He also says that he thinks skin tags can be got rid of by tying dental floss at the base. They then apparently shrivel up and die due to lack of blood.
AIBU to consider allowing him to do this?

Does it bother you, OP?

Do you want it removed?

chitofftheshovel · 02/07/2017 23:31

Not a chance in hell would I allow it. But it's your arse so allow what you want.

AnyFucker · 02/07/2017 23:31

Why are you telling us this ? Confused

SumThucker · 02/07/2017 23:33

No frickin way! Confused

luckiestgirl · 02/07/2017 23:33

I use thread, but yes, it's worked for me. And I've done it on DP too. Go for it.

SilverdaleGlen · 02/07/2017 23:34

Yes because nothing brings the sex appeal back like dental flossing someone's anal skin tag and watching it slowly shrivel and drop off.

What could go wrong?

ArgyMcBargy · 02/07/2017 23:36

Anal skin tags are a symptom of Crohn's disease - not saying you have Crohn's but due to child having both Crohn's and an anal skin tag that bothers them - we have looked into having it removed and have been advised against (warned it can become a wound tht fails to heal - so best left) don't want to scare monger - but I'd strongly advise waiting for referral to understand wider implications of removal - you may be advised against it!

Whiterabbitears · 02/07/2017 23:48

It sounds like your DP is pressuring you into this, I would wait for the referral and get it treated properly. Its not fair of him to pressure you he is thinking only of himself here, its pretty shallow of him to only care about how it looks and not your wellbeing.

Someone will come along shortly to ask if its a sexual pleasure thing I am certain. . .

AfunaMbatata · 02/07/2017 23:55

Is this a sexual pleasure thing?

Sounds gross, but yes, there's nothing wrong with it. (I mean tying off a skin tag!) Get him to do it. Smile It will heal over in a week and it will be like it was never there.

Notknownatthisaddress · 03/07/2017 00:00

On second thoughts, maybe see the doctor first! I reckon he will just do exactly that though; tie it off.

But yeah maybe see the doctor.

steff13 · 03/07/2017 00:02

I had my skin tags (not anal) removed by a dermatologist. It was only about $115 to remove up to 20 skin tags. It was fast and easy. Do you have to wait for a referral?

Unacceptable · 03/07/2017 00:06

I had skin tag on my thigh.
A friend recommended tying cotton around it.
Apparently she had and it was 'uncomfortable'
BULLSHIT it hurts Luke a motherfucker and once it's tied on, you absolutely cannot undo it!
After a couple of hours of agony (and I have quite a high pain threshold) I got some nail clippers and cut the tag off. Bled for ages!!
Get it done properly or alternatively source some super duper numbing type cream first.
Good luck 🍀

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 03/07/2017 00:06

You could go to a GUM walk in clinic. They would treat it without a wait.

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 03/07/2017 00:08

I had one on my shoulder blade that I put a tag band around and I agree, the thing throbbed and hurt for days. It hurt BAD and it didn't die quickly, it took the fucker like 7 days before it died.

LoupGarou · 03/07/2017 00:10

Just choked on my wine at that!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Note, this is a wine induced non recommended method, but I've nipped them off with nail clippers and used the antibacterial blood stop powder you can buy for pets in the past. I haven't had any on my ass, so not tried it there, but it works well elsewhere. Again note, not recommended.

HappenedForAReisling · 03/07/2017 00:41

Thanks Unacceptable.

I have two in my armpit and thought of trying to remove them myself. I didn't consider that once the thread was tied on I wouldn't be able to get it off again.
The thought of removing with nail scissors made my toes curl so I think I'll leave them alone.

redladybird · 03/07/2017 00:41

Why does he DH need to do it for you though? Can't you do it yourself? I mean, if he is already put off by it don't you think this might just send him over the edge?!

Notknownatthisaddress · 03/07/2017 00:52

I imagine it would be a tad awkward wrapping dental floss around a skin tag on your ringpiece @redladybird

AndNowItIsSeven · 03/07/2017 00:55

I read the title as dentist rather than dh Blush

dnwig · 03/07/2017 01:02

Sounds like a bad idea...think there'd be a greater risk of infection in this location (compared to a skin tag elsewhere).

I'd wait for the referral personally.

Dahlietta · 03/07/2017 01:12

My dp says it is off-putting

Putting him off what exactly? Confused

DJBaggySmalls · 03/07/2017 01:27

I wouldnt risk it because of where it is. There's an increased risk of infection.
