To think it's inevitable that JC will be PM and TM should just let it happen ASAP

They are now pretty much at the same popularity and in the years to come there will be millions more Labour voters and millions of Tory voters that will pass away. It's pretty much a done deal right? So why doesn't TM just go now?

No way!!!

strikealight · 08/07/2017 14:40

Way.

SleepingTiger · 08/07/2017 15:00

The next GE will be decided on the character of the leader of each party and how confident the electorate are in that person to deliver a balance on the economy, housing, health and education.

That is how it has been in my living memory. Even the side distractions do not affect that result. It's all about averages.

For these reasons I do not believe Corbyn will ever be PM and May will phase out soon. By the time of the next GE both Labour and the Conservatives will have to step up some new candidates. Both parties are severely lacking in talent, especially the rather stale Conservatives.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/07/2017 15:22

Corbyn is no different to McDonnell if anything he has more connections to dubious groups all in the name of peace of course Hmm strange all groups have been very much anti Western governments and blame them for all that's wrong in the world. Corbyn just comes across as a nicer person but they are both agitators as we all witnessed in the aftermath of the Grenfell fire both making statements that were deliberately provocative to create anger or rather more anger yet totally unhelpful to those that were suffering

I am sure both are quite disappointed that civil unrest didn't come about

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/07/2017 15:23

Short clip of John McDonnell giving his views on democracy and insurrection:

mobile.twitter.com/markantro/status/869168306267336704/video/1

Bloody hell. That man is dangerous and demonstrably incapable and unsuitable to hold any office.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/07/2017 15:27

I am sure both are quite disappointed that civil unrest didn't come about

I agree.

Could you imagine Tory supporters or Tory MPs behaving like this if Labour had won? And can you imagine the howls of outrage there would be from Labour supporters if they did?

ReleaseTheBats · 08/07/2017 15:35

This article sets out McDonnell's politics:

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/marxist-mcdonnell-is-no-laughing-matter-pf5vfhg92

It's all gone very quite on the Dianne Abbott front though, hasn't it? Back as shadow home secretary after her very short break from the last disasterous interview to the day after the election Hmm

Sadcatlady69 · 08/07/2017 15:38

OP, do you know anything at all about politics and how it works?????

This must be the most ridiculous post on MN for a long while....Although....penis beaker.....Grin

birdsdestiny · 08/07/2017 15:40

I find it amazing that people who have been supporters of the Labour party for decades, who are pointing out their worries, are just dismissed. Do you think we are doing it for shit and giggles. Why would we do it. I thought Ed milliband wasn't the best leader for the labour party but I gritted my teeth and voted Labour. We are loyal to the Labour party. Are concerns about the character of JC and JM are real. We are not loyal to momentum.

YTho · 08/07/2017 15:45

Current government is a mess and they've led this country into a huge mess and I've no confidence that they can lead us out. But they're the ones in power now so we and labour in opposition need to hold them accountable and voice our opposition towards any more ineffective policies and growing inequality and uncertainty.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/07/2017 15:48

I'm no longer loyal to Labour. It has been 40 plus years but I'm calling it a day. I can't support McDonnell and Corbyn. If I had had any enthusiasm left that clip of McConnell would have killed it stone dead.

jamdonut · 08/07/2017 15:52

Not gone through the whole thread, but to cut a long story short

God, no , I really hope not!

Thisarmingman · 08/07/2017 15:54

Right. So you'd prefer to have a government propped up by actual terrorists brought in by a deal that threatens the entire status and stability of Northern Ireland. V good.

Thisarmingman · 08/07/2017 15:55

Woops - for "deal" read "bribe".

birdsdestiny · 08/07/2017 15:55

I would be happier if I could let it go Lass, my dh has given up and joined the lib dems, and he no longer gets irate about the labour leadership. He feels it is no longer anything to do with him. I wish I could do that.

Starlighter · 08/07/2017 15:57

No effing way!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/07/2017 15:59

I know it is difficult birds . It is somewhat easier for me as the constituency I'm in has never been and never will be Labour. Lib Dems took it back from SNP which is just fine.

AndromedaPerseus · 08/07/2017 16:04

John McDonnell is channelling his Mao, Mobilising the disinchanted, the young and impressionable 'red guards' to attack anything and anybody that stands for authority.

We should be very scared if he and Corbyn ever gets into power if you're not scared read up on what happened during Chinas Cultural revolution and the suppression of democracy in Hong Kong now.

To the poster who said the UK will not become an authoritarian communist state if JC and JM took over I'm sure the Chinese also didn't think so at the time of Mao

Thisarmingman · 08/07/2017 16:08

Yes yes, we are literally 38 votes away from a cultural revolution. Hmm

Meanwhile, what about the actual terrorists who are actually in power, you know like now?

ReleaseTheBats · 08/07/2017 16:15

Who are the terrorists in power, This ?

clairewilliams999 · 08/07/2017 16:31

*FinallyThroughTheRoof

Err he produced a costed manifesto. Unlike the Tories who just seem to wing it*

Err it was costed but not funded according to the IFS. kindnof like you getting a quote for a new kitchen. doesn't nean you can afford it or know where the money is coming from to pay for it. Simple answers for simple people from Labour. Decades more austerity once they can't deliver any of their pie in the sky promises and leave us in debilitating debt like last time

strikealight · 08/07/2017 16:32

JM is a Maoist/Leninist shitbag. JC is , at best, what Leninists call a "useful idiot " to act as cover for the shitbags.
The fact the Tories are now propped up by a bunch of wankers doesn't make this any less the case.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 08/07/2017 16:39

Just seen Jeremy Corbyn yet again demanding that the govt stand down.

He is clearly unable to grasp the fact that he lost.
It's really time for someone to sit him down & gently tell him that getting less votes & less seats means he lost the GE.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 08/07/2017 16:42

Wow so much right wing propaganda..Tory voters are really shaken up by Corbyn.

Quoting smear campaigns from the Torygrpah no less.
