To think it's inevitable that JC will be PM and TM should just let it happen ASAP

They are now pretty much at the same popularity and in the years to come there will be millions more Labour voters and millions of Tory voters that will pass away. It's pretty much a done deal right? So why doesn't TM just go now?

I didn't win the Election, but I want to be PM...

I promise more houses, more wages and what ever else you want...

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/07/2017 10:38

Talking about facts crossword. Did Guido include the link where JC apologised for the friends comment? Or even explain how it came about? It was a mistake and he admitted he shouldn't have said it, like many other MPs have done before.undoubtedly. Here was me thinking Guido was factual and impartial. Nasty man that Corbyn. Trying to initiate a peace process. 😂

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 07/07/2017 10:38

Oh no..better housing and higher wages. How dreadful.

CrossWordSalad · 07/07/2017 10:40

That link on Hamas and Hezbollah focuses on one specific meeting. The Guido list includes many examples of JC supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, including attending an Al Quds day march.

Anyway, the information is all out there for people to read and make their mind up on JC either way.

I'm sorry that you feel your posts are being dismissed. I feel like that about mine too. It would be better if we (general we) could discuss more constructively.

Yes, I do think TM is wrong on SA. That said, I have no faith that Labour would be better, and I believe JC would bring far more problems than he would solve. Like I imagine many Tory supporters, I do not agree with everything they do. The cheering you describe is unacceptable (not mentioning it wasn't condoning it). Sadly, we haven't got much choice politically at the moment. For me the priority is to get out of the EU as soon as possible

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/07/2017 10:40

I promise more houses, more wages and what ever else you want...

Eh? May promised to plough billions into more Houses too? Or do you only ridicule these policies when it's a party you don't like? Suppose that's going to have to be put on the backburner now anyway now we're skint again though.

CrossWordSalad · 07/07/2017 10:42

Sorry, posted to soon.

... by which time perhaps the Labour party will have come to it's senses or a centre party will emerge.

Hope you are better soon Pixie.

FuckyDuck · 07/07/2017 10:43

I'm a younger vote and voted Tory.

I wouldn't trust JC to butter toast.

CrossWordSalad · 07/07/2017 10:46

So can we take the example of attending the (I don't know if it was one or more than one) Al Quds day march in London? Was that a mistake, or okay, or not acceptable for a potential prime minister in your view Pixie?

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 07/07/2017 10:47

The "Guido" list is alt right nonsense.

CrossWordSalad · 07/07/2017 10:50

Here's some info about Al Quds day, from a partisan source, I admit, but other information is available.

CrossWordSalad · 07/07/2017 10:57

The "Guido" list is alt right nonsense

Ah yes, any piece of news or information is immediately rendered "nonsense" and unfactual if it is reported by an "alt right" (Guido Grin) source, even if it has been previously reported by BBC, Telegraph, Hansard etc.

And anything not reported in the Guardian didn't happen.

Squeegle · 07/07/2017 11:23

whodoesthis17. Well, we do need more houses and the pay ceiling of 1% is crazy surely?? Are these really such outlandish policies

Fresh8008 · 07/07/2017 11:30

I wonder what would happen post a Corbyn PM. When all these 'young' Corbynistas grow up and get jobs, homes and have children.

Will they still vote the same when the tax burden is breaking their backs?

ThePants999 · 07/07/2017 11:42

Hypothesis: Conservative voters die off, young people come of age and start voting Labour -> Labour victory is inevitable

Reality: Conservative voters die off, young people come of age and start voting Labour, previous Labour voters age and start voting Conservative -> nothing is inevitable, sorry

brexitstolemyfuture · 07/07/2017 12:26

Reality: Conservative voters die off, young people come of age and start voting Labour, previous Labour voters age and start voting Conservative

The reality is lots won't switch to Tory as many don't have pensions, houses or jobs.

If you think Tories are going to die out, you are either naive or prejudiced.
Thatcher was not voted in by old farts, she was voted in by young voters who were fed up with failed Corbynite policies of the 70s.

brexitstolemyfuture · 07/07/2017 13:03

It's swings and roundabouts though, labour will have its day again and will also die off Brew what is the average age from those tory voters is the 70s? Lots i know in their 60s and 70s were bribed for life with the council house sell off. Who will replace them?

OP posts:
Lucysky2017 · 07/07/2017 13:13

Let us see who gets in at the next election. I was too young to vote in 1979 (just) but I voted Tory through my 20s because I believed in my teens and older in self reliance and the free market. As do many people. I was not bribed by a council house sell off and neither were my parents.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 07/07/2017 13:17

They've already been replaced.

Hence the vote share for Tories in the GE was as high as during Maggie Thatcher's tenure.

The galvanised student vote this time was the unknown quantity - without them Corbyn would have lost far more convincingly than he did.

Will those students be as motivated in the next GE?
Will long term Labour supporters who voted Labour this time despite JC rather than in favour of JC (convinced he wouldn't get in anyway, as the polls suggested) risk a vote for Labour next time knowing now that the prospect is high that he may win, or will they stay at home?
With Lib Dem no longer campaigning as a single issue anti-Brexit party take votes back from Labour?

YTho · 07/07/2017 13:31

For the sake of this country I hope tories will not get in in the next election. We need growth and investment and more equal distribution of pain and gains. Right now it seems it's only certain section of people who are bearing the most of the effects of austerity, cuts and high inflation, low pay etc.

YTho · 07/07/2017 13:32

Or failing that, I hope they wake up to reality and change their policies to help UK get back on its feet.

Thanks pil, but virtual cookies are as useful as TM.

pilates · 07/07/2017 13:48

JC is not a credible leader, end of.
