Friend asked if I wanted to stay for her "famous roast dinner" as she'd cooked plenty.

Now I fucking love a roast dinner so was thrilled...it was Steamed chicken, peas, cheesy spinach, cauli, Yorkshire, stuffing and rice all covered in gravy and cheese with a big dollop of mayo.

Good lord. That's upsetting I'm so many levels. I opened this thread expecting you to be upset about some fancy-schmancy herbs & spices or a roast chicken without roast potatoes but with e.g. mash or roasted veg instead, which to my mind would still qualify.

But there's nothing roasted on that meal!

And Cheddar on a curry?? What fresh hell is this?

If meat plus carb equals a roast then spaghetti bolognaise counts as one surely. As would pate on toast.

Or a ham sandwich. Serve her that next time and say it's your famous roast.

Make sure you boil the ham for the sandwich. Can't have anything that's been in the oven in your 'roast' dinner of carb + meat.

I do a cheaters roasts, when we have mash with roasted meat. Anything other than that is a gravy fucking dinner.

If I'm doing a roast, I roast the meat (usually beef), I also roast the potatoes and include homemade Yorkshire pudding and various veg.

I ordered a curry with paneer at my local curry house and ended up with a lamb curry with cheddar on top.

That's not famous , that's notorious .

There would be a riot in this house if I even attempted to dish that up and sell it as a roast !
