AIBU?

To think this is an abomination of a roast dinner!

Friend asked if I wanted to stay for her "famous roast dinner" as she'd cooked plenty.

Now I fucking love a roast dinner so was thrilled...it was Steamed chicken, peas, cheesy spinach, cauli, Yorkshire, stuffing and rice all covered in gravy and cheese with a big dollop of mayo.

Rice...in a roast...with gravy on

I love her dearly but AIBU to think she's fucking insane HmmGrin

Sounds very wrong to me!

She's not South Africa by any chance though? It's kinda traditional for Saffas to have rice with just about any meal lol.

Its a roast because it has carbs? So all meal options are "salad" and "roast"?

You misheard her, she actually invited you to stay for her famous RICE dinner. It's famous because of the weird stuff that goes with it

That sounds upsetting.

MIL, bless her, didn't know what to serve me as I didn't eat meat and I got a roasted tuna fillet for my Xmas dinner. With gravy on top. I did eat fish, but it was...odd.

OP I have to know if her family (if she has one) all ate with enthusiasm. 'Another famous Mum roast, yum!' Like they don't know any better.

Rice, mayo and steamed chicken with a roast? The end of civilisation must surely be nigh.

"Mate, why the fuck is there rice on my plate?" made me GrinGrinGrinGrin

How and why the fuck would you steam a chicken ? do you mean whole chicken or pieces ? I have never heard of anyone steaming a whole chicken

Though that reminds me... we have just bought a new steamer as the inserts in the baskets have given up the ghost...all the new ones seem to have fixed baskets. The reason the old one had removable basket bottoms was so you could steam a whole chicken

But why the fuck would you do that...

Steamed chicken and rice?? That's what I fed the cat when he had the shits!

Now I'm a gravy and mayo kinda gal but no roast potatoes?? No roasted anything? It's clearly a cry for help!

Steamed chicken-- Not a roast then
Peas- Delicious
Cheesy spinach- A bit weird, why add cheese?
Cauli- This is where the spinach cheese should have been utilisted
Yorkshire- Not really with chicken, but I will accept this as I love them
Stuffing- Yay, the best part!
Rice- Ummmmmm
Gravy- I'd be annoyed if someone applied the gravy for me
Cheese- WTF
Big dollop of mayo- WTAF

It sounds like a pretty flipping disgusting excuse for a roast!

Are you sure she said roast and not moist? Sounds fucking horrible, whatever she called it.

She's fucking with you.

She's going on holiday tomorrow and wanted to clear all the shit out of her fridge, but her own family were all 'like fuck will we eat that' so she invited you.

That's the only explaination that doesn't require me to cry myself to sleep tonight.

Haven't RTFT because I could get past She also puts grated cheddar on a curry

I wish the Food Police had powers of arrest.

Though given what she calls a 'roast' I wonder what actual food stuff amounts to a curry in her universe? Shepherd's pie with a spot of turmeric?

You need to bin your friend OP. Jaysus. That is the furthest thing from a roast. What an abomination! What did you have for dessert? Tinned fruit cocktail and chocolate sauce?

A friend of mine used to say he was "roasting" when he meant horny. Does she fancy you?

Report
DarthMaiden · 27/06/2017 21:13

That's an abomination.

It's not a roast - it's not even an edible dinner.

I felt a bit of sick in my throat reading the description never mind eating it.

Her flirting technique is fucking awful if so! If someone put a dollop of mayo on my dinner I think I'd run from their house!

confuugled1 · 27/06/2017 21:22

Are you also good enough mates with her to say that it was a chicken dinner of sorts but that it really wasn't a roast?

And if she ever dares invite you again for a roast, ask if it's for a proper roast or a steamed chicken and rice strange combo that is anything but a roast...

Report
Usernamegone · 27/06/2017 21:25

WTF???? How can you not have roasties???? A roast dinner must have roast potatos! I would have cried if I was served that!

I want a fucking roast now. A proper one mind, not that pile of shit thrown together on a plate! I actually cannot even picture it.

"Mate, why the fuck is there rice on my plate?!"

I would said exactly the same! Grin I'm not known for my diplomacy. Surely the people who falsely informed her that her roasts are great are shitting her and are just far too polite to be honest. I find people are far too polite sometimes, she needs to be told, it would be a public service to humanity!
