The Beckhams... again

I would have expected the Beckhams to have learnt their lesson about using charitable causes for shameless self-promotion after the leaked UNICEF emails earlier in the year, but evidently nothing has changed

I was sickened to see young 'photographer' Brooklyn Beckham using the Grenfell catastrophe to promote his new book. These people are quite literally shameless

Christies!! What the hell!

It would be kind of ok if they were any good. But they clearly aren't.

ssd · 27/06/2017 23:00

I had a look at those photo's above, in the daily mail

god. Victoria isnt braw, as we'd say up here and her trousers are a bloody state

so saying that, i'm sure she's a nice woman, she just looks under so much pressure to be something she's not

the captions from the fawning daily mail writer are worth scrolling through the pictures for, its hilarious how the DM tries to kiss the beckhams arse

VeuveLilies · 27/06/2017 23:03

And now why slag him off for "not knowing what he wants to do"? faff around"? "doing charity stuff" ? "Didn't he want to be a footballer?"
How the fuck does anyone here know what Brooklyn wants to do.
He's done his exams and going to go to Uni, with interests in footy and photography and a part time job.Think that's a pretty good start.
If my son's on that track at 18 I'll be happy enough.

TheHiphopopotamus · 27/06/2017 23:06

If my son's on that track at 18 I'll be happy enough.

I'd be over the moon if my son manages to get a book of his shitty Instagram photos published at 18. Unlikely though.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/06/2017 23:10

And why a book?Confused. His target market is oribably young teenagers. Surely they're used to looking in FB, Snapchat, Instagram etc. What 14 year old would but a book of his photos. It seems mad to me.

VeuveLilies · 27/06/2017 23:10

And I don't think those DM photos are representative of his photos. They've just taken them off his instagram, they're not necessarily in the book or exhibition.
And the exhibition is part of his book promotion, he didn't set it up purposely for Grenfell.
And you're all a bunch of wankers for slagging off a kid.

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 23:12

Ssd we need a link

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/06/2017 23:13

It's already half price in Amazon, £8.50Hmm that's very good value actually for a book full of photos. I wonder whisevput the money up for it?Wink

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/06/2017 23:13

*who has

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/06/2017 23:16

"And you're all a bunch of wankers for slagging off a kid"

Well, I think most posters are slagging off the parents mostly, for allowing him to do this. And yes they are commenting on the photos. Aren't we allowed to do that, despite him actually putting them in a book for all to see?Confused

VeuveLilies · 27/06/2017 23:27

I've lost patience woods.
Plenty of posters are slagging him off.
He's really just a kid trying to do his best with his own set of circumstances

cowgirlsareforever · 27/06/2017 23:31

When you compare the elephant picture against some of the photographs which have won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year there is simply no contest. How his parents have allowed him to do this is beyond me. Poor Brooklyn.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/06/2017 23:33

But this is exactly why his parents should, well parent him.
He isn't a kid "doing his best". He's trying to sell a book, so that invites close scrutiny and analysis and thousands of words written and spoken about you and that book. His patents are throwing him to the wiolves, as they did with the other child when he released his single.

Children being in the public eye rarely ends well, I just hope they all grow up without having adverse affects from all the press they get.

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 23:53

Anyway it isn't about his photography skills, its about peeking into his life. That's why he has 10m followers on Instagram

TheAntiBoop · 28/06/2017 00:24

Normally threads on age end up with the 'well when I was 18 I was married with a child and was ceo of unilever '

I think it says a lot that he is being referred to as a kid

ZerbaPadnaTigre · 28/06/2017 00:33

I think he's shot himself in the foot if he genuinely wants to be a photographer. He's got the money to spend on equipment, he's spent a lot of time around professional photographers and claims to have learnt a lot from them, he goes to amazing places and has a very unusual life... and he's produced a book of very average family photos. Obviously he's still got the advantage of being him so the book's not going to end his career but it's hardly going to help it.

MommaGee · 28/06/2017 00:40

I think it says a lot that he is being referred to as a kid well he's barely out of school- I know he's legally an adult but I reckon somewhere mid holiday between school and Uni should cover it haha

TheAntiBoop · 28/06/2017 07:23

I meant that he comes across as a kid because he doesn't seem independent in any way. He can't even get a tattoo'grohl without his dad being there.

He needs to spread his wings!

SoupDragon · 28/06/2017 07:24

I can take better photos using my phone than he has in that book. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but theones shown in The Sun (hangs head in shame) are awful.

Although I did like theone of Victoria fishing!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 28/06/2017 07:49

I feel sorry for their children

Have been used as part of the brand to gain more publicity that it seems Brooklyn himself and no doubt the others do not understand that it will take more than your name to be taken seriously

Why would you do that to your children they could have lived private lives, studied gained their own way in the world but instead they will go on to work for the brand they will always be mocked for this

Victoria and David still wanting publicity after all these years what a strange way to live

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 28/06/2017 07:53

When you compare the elephant picture against some of the photographs which have won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year there is simply no contest. How his parents have allowed him to do this is beyond me. Poor Brooklyn

Yes. Poor Brooklyn. I do actually feel for the boy. I saw the photos weeks ago in one of the newspapers and thought here's hoping this will just fade into oblivion but of course I was being ridiculous.

thereallochnessmonster · 28/06/2017 09:14

Shame on Penguin Random House! I also don't like the editing - no caps??? Why? To be edgy??

Shame for the thousands of genuinely talented young photographers will never get a chance to have a book like this published. It's all about who you know, not what you know, and that devalues everything.

MommaGee · 28/06/2017 09:21

I meant that he comes across as a kid because he doesn't seem independent in any way. He can't even get a tattoo'grohl without his dad being there and I'm sure he will now he's high school and will go off to Uni or work etc. I'm not sure how wing spready I was whilst I was still school age, had no issues going off to Uni6a few hours away, going on holiday alone etc.
He and his Dad are close - that's hardly a bad thing

TheAntiBoop · 28/06/2017 09:40

His parents seem to be involved in every part of his life though. I'm incredibly close to my parents but by the time I left school I was making my own decisions etc

They need to let him detach

cowgirlsareforever · 28/06/2017 09:46

The sad thing is that he's going to study photography at university and I can't help think that one day he will look back at this book and cringe. It's like letting the whole world see your teenage diary or read the first draft of the novel you wrote when you were young and self indulgent.
