The Beckhams... again

I would have expected the Beckhams to have learnt their lesson about using charitable causes for shameless self-promotion after the leaked UNICEF emails earlier in the year, but evidently nothing has changed

I was sickened to see young 'photographer' Brooklyn Beckham using the Grenfell catastrophe to promote his new book. These people are quite literally shameless

Those grapes are sour arnt they

QuackPorridgeBacon · 27/06/2017 12:55

You know what. You are dumb. You posts make no sense, clearly.

nina2b · 27/06/2017 12:55

Today 12:49 ArtemisiaGentilleschi

Why do you wonder about his academic results Nina?
Not hoping he's a bit thick by any chance?

Do you think he takes after his father?

nina2b · 27/06/2017 12:56

I give up. It's not that hard to work it out, really. Confused

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 12:58

No one said money brought you brains. Did you think it did?

Why should he be academic? That's no measure of brains anyway just a measure of exam success or intense interest in a certain topic like maths or science.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 27/06/2017 12:58

Clearly it is.. one minute it seems like you are saying because he is famous he has to be smart then you are contradicting yourself.

Why are you so fascinated by his results anyway? Does it affect you at all? You are a grown adult looking for a reason to take the piss out of someone younger than you who is just starting their life in the adult world.

VeuveLilies · 27/06/2017 12:59

Ffs
Why criticise people for making the most of their talents?
The Beckhams are very successful in their respective fields, by anyone's standards.
Good luck to them.

Brittbugs80 · 27/06/2017 12:59

You could say the same about Lilly Allen. She could have helped quietly but decided to make herself spokesperson for the locals affected.

As someone else said, dammed if they do, dammed if they don't.

It's no more irritating that celebrities taking it upon themselves to insist you vote for a particular party, Professor Green for example.

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 13:00

Yes give up and maybe do something a bit less wierd than obsessing over a teenager and his family

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 13:10

Regardless of what privileged upbringing they had, the kids went out an volunteered. That auggeats decent parenting and decent kids. Plenty of people nearby didbt do anything.
Regardless of how shit the photos are, the money will do some good. He'd have still had huge publicity because his parents as adept at working the system.

I really can't get upset by rich kid does something decent with money he could have spent in tattoos and cigarettes.

As for his academic ability, what he hell does that have to do with anything? You think he's a worse person if he isn't bright??
My nephew went into the army as 16 because school isnot his thing and he wanted to do something with his life to make a difference? Is he less worthy of recognition than a kid with a 1:1 from Oxford who has a cushy office job somewhere?

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 13:13

Also re school results.
Simon Cowel and Lord Sugar - flunked school.
Jodie Marsh - 11 GCSE's and 3 A Levels all at A or A*.

Enough said

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 27/06/2017 13:19

I don't think Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or, ERM Einstein had many certificates either.

Unlike Nina. I'd love to hear her success story though. I bet theirs pale into insignificance compared to someone so shy and retiring like her.

RoseTico · 27/06/2017 13:57

Shit - he's gone and published the kind of pictures most of us would delete off our phones? That elephant one! Grin

But his devoted stans will buy it in droves. My friends' dd buys SEVERAL copies of everything her favourite multi millionaire celeb puts out, to help "support" him and so that she can upload the pics to twitter and get approving likes from other cult members. It's all so sad, but it's a reality these days.

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 14:06

its all so sad

If you call your friends dd doing what teenage girls have done for years by worshipping teenage pop stars or celebs and grow out of like we all do. If you call that dad you really need to take a look at the world today to discover what is really sad.

As for adults bothering to post nasty comments about teenagers online that's far sadder and says far more about their bitter lives than a kid who takes some photos to help a charity.

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 14:06

Sad not dad

Scrumpernickel · 27/06/2017 14:13

Grin

Back in the day all you could do was buy a cassette single to show your love. These days there is so much MERCH!

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 27/06/2017 14:35

Shit - he's gone and published the kind of pictures most of us would delete off our phones? That elephant one! grin

It really is a prefect example of a vanity book.

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 14:42

oh dear those sour sour grapes and envy Grin

cowgirlsareforever · 27/06/2017 15:19

I think the issue here is that Brooklyn Beckham is not an established photographer yet. He's trying to launch a career by releasing this book. Whether people like the idea of him involving this charity in conjunction with his career launch is a matter for the individual. Some will see it as cynical, others will view is as charitable. Remember that his brother kick started his singing career with a charity record. It is what this family do. I think they see themselves as a bit like the Royals, hence why they have all had their names trademarked for future financial projects.

JunefromAccounts · 27/06/2017 16:03

I don't see any sour grapes. The Beckham publicity machine announced the Beckham boys had been volunteering and that Brooklyn was donating some proceeds to charity. He isn't a celebrity in his own right, he's like a minor Kardashian.

His photographs are not worthy of a book or an exhibition but maybe if he works with good photographers, studies his craft, then in a few years he may become a good photographer. He's not there yet so his family and sycophants aren't doing him any favours in encouraging his self publicity.

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 16:06

I do suspect he'll look back on the book in later life and Blush

cowgirlsareforever · 27/06/2017 16:13

I agree Junefromaccounts Given the lack of quality of the photos, it would appear that Brooklyn is surrounded by people who don't feel they can be honest about his work.

MommaGee · 27/06/2017 16:14

Given his fan base and the target audience I suspect the publishers assumed a quick profit.

If he goes to uni September to study photography they'll be honest enough soon enough

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 16:23

So what! He doesn't need to work does he? He is who he is and can use his parents celeb status to raise charity money.

What's the harm? He's hardly going to go to college and train as a plumber to gain his independence from his parents.

David and Victoria work their socks off for their lifestyle, they weren't born to it.

This is purely because they have the temerity to be a working class football player and a moderate singer and have done incredibly well by hard work and sensible investments.

Good on them and I hope the kids have happy nice lives.

waitforitfdear · 27/06/2017 16:25

If he was a cricketer or a rugby player or they were posher no one would bat an eyelid.

It's the working class made good that people hate.

The 'academic' comments say it all. Working class people should know their place. Wink
