The Beckhams... again

I would have expected the Beckhams to have learnt their lesson about using charitable causes for shameless self-promotion after the leaked UNICEF emails earlier in the year, but evidently nothing has changed

I was sickened to see young 'photographer' Brooklyn Beckham using the Grenfell catastrophe to promote his new book. These people are quite literally shameless

I read that he hopes to do some sort of fashion degree at university...?

nina2b · 28/06/2017 09:49

Photography seems to be his current hobby...

Davros · 28/06/2017 09:53

I like him. Leave him alone

SoupDragon · 28/06/2017 10:05

I like him in as much as you can like someone's you've never met or had anything to do with. However, he is not a talented photographer.

ZaraW · 28/06/2017 10:54

How can you like someone you've never met, that's weird.

Scrumpernickel · 28/06/2017 10:57

I like lots of people I've never met! I even love Tom Waits.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 28/06/2017 10:58

SoupDragon I just looked at the photos on the Sun Website and agree the Victoria one is good, but he rest are utter shite, they are just so, so bad Shock

Love some of the comments by the reviewerGrin

The Beckhams are exactly the same as the Kardashians imo.

It's shameful to force children into the public eye simply to increase your own fame, when they have no talent and have to suffer such disappointment and criticism. Brooklyn is an adult and it's not reasonable for people to give him more mild criticism than any other "professional author" would receive, simply because his parents are famous. If some random person got a big publishing deal for a book this bad they'd get ripped to pieces a million times worse.

I find the family shocking. A tabloid editor I know witnesses Victoria and David calling the paps to see them playing and kissing on a ski slope right after one of the cheating scandals, then the second they got inside she smacked him in the face. It's all fake. They have no self respect and would do anything for fame.

Davros · 28/06/2017 11:16

Same way you can dislike someone you've never met!

Lymmmummy · 28/06/2017 12:00

Tabasco - I could well imagine that allegedly happening

I am surprised that more people who know someone who knows them have not been on here suggesting similar stuff

I suppose their family image is their business and they will do anything to promote and protect this

Perfectly1mperfect · 28/06/2017 20:25

I think it's pretty normal that a child of 2 well known successful people would use that to their advantage. No, he probably wouldn't have got a book of his photos published if he wasn't David and Victoria Beckhams child, but why are they bad for helping and supporting him and why is he bad for taking advantage of it.

If he was lazy, not attending school, college, uni etc and was just photographed drunk in clubs with random women he would get grief from random people.
He seems a normal, decent lad. His family seem supportive. He's off to uni soon and is trying to make his own money and donating to charity and he still gets grief. Poor lad.

Hopefully he doesn't read what's written about him. If he was reading this thread I imagine even with a thick skin and a good set of family/friends it would hurt a bit. I don't get how unkind some people are. I hope he is strong enough to deal with the nasty things written, he's only 18.

ssd · 28/06/2017 22:32

The Beckhams are exactly the same as the Kardashians, for a start the Beckhams work. Also David was a brilliant footballer and Victoria has made a name as a designer. The Kardashians are famous for being famous.

ssd · 28/06/2017 22:33

aren't

^^

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/07/2017 15:07

Well - looking at the examples I doubt he'd sell a single copy to non-family members if he wasn't donating the proceeds, but as he is he'll be doing himself and others some good.

I wonder if the multi-millionaire Beckhams have donated any actual cash?

I often think the same thing about singers and entertainers who pop out of the woodwork at these times. Yes, they may do good, but they could put their hands in their pockets and have the money available in half the time.

jodiemumtodavid · 05/07/2017 15:12

Part of me always thinks celebs doing charity performances or records is a form of self promotion and it is to an extent.

Morecoffeeurgently · 05/07/2017 16:00

I think it's not great that his parents are helping him be seen as a 'real' photographer at this stage. It just opens a young man up to some really harsh and horrible comments/reviews etc. I'm all for encouraging kids but this is rather OTT - own exhibition/book/scholarship to a NY uni etc and giving him an over-inflated sense of his own talent. He referred to himself as 'a young influencer' in a recent article. Dear Lord, he is an 18 year old with a nice camera, he needs someone to encourage him to be realistic and to learn and grow out of the limelight a little and to have to work for something. Can't imagine many 18 year olds getting an exhibition etc with so little experience/visible natural talent. Yes it's fine to give your kids a leg up if you can but don't big them up beyond what they actually are. It's not good. Same with Cruz's pop career. I suppose little Harper is currently working on her first bronzing palette between school and drama/dance classes.

SuburbanRhonda · 05/07/2017 16:03

Surely he can't be certain he's off to uni until he gets his results?

Oh wait ...

SoupDragon · 05/07/2017 16:06

He would if he's accepted an unconditional offer.

Lennel · 19/01/2018 08:12

To those who only saw the photo of the elephant under the shade,.. I thought it had an obvious moral (but evidently unobvious to the naysayers) meaning other than being a photograph.

I frankly give not a damn about the Beckhams or the event before or after this post. Think before spouting this nonsense, those who think they've the higher ground would have followed up with buying his book or donating directly?

TathitiPete · 19/01/2018 09:30

I frankly give not a damn about the Beckhams

Except to bring back a thread from six months ago.
