FENCEWANKER

I'll start by saying I am absolutely furious. So bear with angry spelling and grammar.

We are incredibly lucky and live on a marina on a river. It's very beautiful. On the river are temporary moorings for riverboats. This is lovely. Some people have unofficial 'permanent' moorings and have made their gardens pretty and mow the grass. This is nice.

3 weeks ago a shiny new boat showed up directly opposite our house. It's a lovely boat, nice to see out of the window.

Yesterday THEY PUT UP A THREE PANEL OVER SIX FOOT FUCKING FENCE. See pic.

Would I be unreasonable to burn that fucker to the ground and also put a hole in his stupid boat?

I don't really see what the issue is tbh. Sorry

Where I and everyone else who lives along here had a lovely river view, now we get to look at the back of some selfish arseholes shitty B&Q fence that is against planning (I hope) and also its a conservation area so the view of the marina from the other side of the river is also more shit fence than is really on.

Tazerface · 25/06/2017 19:39

Not really sure I see the issue either. Certainly not be so furious!

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 25/06/2017 19:41

It might be Hertfordshire. I'm not planning on outing myself though smile

No worries, I won't out you either! But bearing in mind the absolute shit wreaked upon the guy who owns the 'orchard' bit by the neighbours some years ago, I should think that fence won't last long.

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:43

Well if everyone did it it's effectively screening off the river for everyone. Which I find a bit selfish. I'm now fairly sure it's illegal. Have found planning regs.

From the thread title, I thought this was about a next door neighbour drilling a hole in your fence and wanking through it.

PowerPantsRule · 25/06/2017 19:43

I see the issue. It is very ugly and spoils your beautiful view!

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:44

I have got quite a lot going on at the moment. I think the fence is on the receiving end of this.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 25/06/2017 19:45

I would feel the same as you op.

Lynnm63 · 25/06/2017 19:47

Check with the council or whoever deals with waterways. Something pertinent though if you don't own everything between you and the view it's a distinct possibility you'll lose the view at some point.

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:48

Well that's 12-2. So I'm feeling vindicated.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/06/2017 19:49

Take all your anger out on the fucking fence.

You'll feel so much better after killing it dead.

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:50

I know we don't own the view, and if the marina is full you can't really see the river. But the fence just feels so RUDE.

OP posts:
fanfrickintastic · 25/06/2017 19:51

Dob them in to the canal & river trust. They'll likely frown on it.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/06/2017 19:51

The fence is a big up yours, really.

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:52

Yes.

FineSally · 25/06/2017 19:56

You don't have the right to an uninterrupted view.

But I thought any fence higher than 2 metres needed planning permission.
The height apparently does not include any arrangement like a trellis that can be seen through. But most of that extension is proper fence.

I'd check with the local authority.

TheSpottedZebra · 25/06/2017 19:56

Ooh, what happened ref the orchard?

Thiscantreallybehappening · 25/06/2017 19:57

The fence looks terrible and out of place, it just shouldn't be there. I am sure there must be some rules. You can't just go and put up a fence on land you don't own. Whoever has done it, is in effect claiming some land as theirs. It is probably be a safety hazard too - what if there is a high wind and the fence gets blown into other boats.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 25/06/2017 19:58

FineSally - you can't just put a fence up on land you don't own either

Ellie56 · 25/06/2017 19:58

Grin Grin Mexxi

I agree the fence is an eyesore and needs to come down though.

BuzzKillington · 25/06/2017 20:00

That fence is an abomination.

One of the houses in our village put an identical one up at the front of their garden and planning acted swiftly in making them remove it.

muckypup73 · 25/06/2017 20:01

I would be tempted to remove it, as it is spoiling your veiw, or have a word whith whoever put it there and ask them to remove it x

AlternativeTentacle · 25/06/2017 20:01

But I thought any fence higher than 2 metres needed planning permission.

Prior to that, owning the land might be a start. You can't get planing permission on someone else's land.

Bluetrews25 · 25/06/2017 20:02

Can you get us a photo of whatever it is that he is doing in secret behind the fence? I'm imagining an aging bloke in greying undercrackers with a droopy belly sharing a spliff with an aging hippy woman with grey, greasy roots and very droopy boobs barely contained in a bikini with spent elastic. A kind of Wayne and Waynetta Slob on the waterfront....

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/06/2017 20:04

Also, these things multiply like the rabbits.

Deal with it now or every boat will have their own by next tHursday.
