To think it's not normal for an 18 year old to play video games on their day off? Mine doesn't move!

I'm 31 and I use my free time to play games, they're fun and can pass time.
What's wrong with an 18 year old playing video games all day? I'd have no problem with it

Marymoosmum14 · 26/06/2017 18:46

My DH is 30 and he still does this if he gets chance (granted not that often now) it sounds about normal to me.

IvanovaIsAlwaysRight · 26/06/2017 18:48

I have spent the last two hours running around Orsinium blasting people with magic, and I'm 40.

runs towards gaming and geekery thread cackling with glee

TesticleMeElmo · 26/06/2017 18:54

Good lord, my DP (36) would sit on the Xbox all day on his days off if I actually let him!!! He is a massive child though Grin

Aquamam · 26/06/2017 18:56

I'm on the Xbox now & im 32 Shock

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 26/06/2017 18:59

Just spent my afternoon off playing Rimworld, boy is it a hard game. The squirrels keep going mad and attacking my colonists.

photographyaddict · 26/06/2017 19:01

I'm 21 and work part time, on my days off I play video games as well as cleaning :)

DarkAngel1984 · 26/06/2017 19:04

I'm in my 30's and if I have a spar a couple of hours will sit down and play video games. Nothing wrong with it at all and some of them that involve puzzle solving keep the mind active too 😃

user1478289914 · 26/06/2017 19:05

I'm a 23 year old female and I play my ps quiet a lot Hmm

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 26/06/2017 19:06

I'm 29 and the idea of a day off just to game without housework or a puppy to run round after sounds like total heaven. I've got a little stack of ps4 games waiting for me

silky1985 · 26/06/2017 19:15

my husband is 47 on his days off if I am not making him do chores with me (just driving me he does not know how to do anything else) he is on the computer all day. its normal for computer geeks

Augustbabyyeah · 26/06/2017 19:15

Completely normal. My brothers still play and they are in their 30s.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/06/2017 19:20

Don't game but DH does. Cannot wait for the next Red Dead to come out - really enjoyed the plot line from the first one. For the same reason DH isn't allowed to play Walking Dead when I'm not in the room either - he games, I knit/crochet and watch Grin

mummytobemaybe · 26/06/2017 19:31

My boyfriend is 23 and him and his friends do it all the time

MumGoneCrazy · 26/06/2017 19:36

Dh (33) books time off work for the release of fifa every year Hmm but each to their own

purplebunny2012 · 26/06/2017 19:49

You're very odd for thinking it's not normal. My 50YO husband games in his spare time

MilesToGoBeforeISleep · 26/06/2017 20:25

I'm 37 and I'd love a day of gaming. You're concerned because it's less socially acceptable to game all day than read all day. For some reason it is also more socially acceptable to watch mindless tv all day, despite this being an entirely passive activity, whereas at least when you're gaming you're using your brain! My own mum used to wonder at me gaming, but couldn't explain why it was apparently acceptable to do a jigsaw puzzle for 2 hours!

DaniRodwell · 26/06/2017 20:27

I'm 27 in august and I still do. TBH to me this is like asking if you should stop enjoying reading/music/crochet etc at a maximum age, all hobbies are allowed to be hobbies for life

TheHeraldOfAndraste · 26/06/2017 20:37

miles some of the puzzles that come up in games are bloody hard. I have spent ages reading up on French history and geography for AC Unity Nostradamus riddles and working through these maths ones on DAI.

My dh (31) enjoys gaming both on the PlayStation and laptop. He's studying for a degree and I bought him a new game recently after he finished his exams. He's been working hard for months,so I see nothing wrong with a couple of days playing the new game as he's on holiday and entitled to relax.

He's also got me gaming a bit too, I find stardew valley relaxing after a long day, and quite enjoy wandering around skyrim world too without doing any of the main quests. I love grandma Curry, she's a gamer after my own heart, only playing games that she enjoys and not bothering with the ones that she doesn't. She's got her own YouTube Chanel (m.youtube.com/channel/UCzkY7wa8Ksxv4M5NyUYgTmA) and calls all her viewers her grandkids. Someone needs to tell her that at 81 she's far too old for video games!

Fruu · 26/06/2017 21:13

My DM is an OAP and happily spends days playing video games if there's nothing more urgent to do, as do most of my 30-something friends!

GrumpyOldMare · 26/06/2017 21:13

My 20yr old son plays games on his xbox and pc in his free time,as does my son in law on his day off. I had a sneaky suspicion they weren't ''normal''. Now I know they're not!

ILoveDolly · 26/06/2017 21:47

I definately did when I was 18 and that was 22 years ago so I expect the games are better now

engineersthumb · 26/06/2017 21:58

I here about grown men playing video games but it still seems odd to me. Someone actually said that it helps to pass the time! Who has time that they don't want! Oh well I'm only jealous.

Nerdymum83 · 26/06/2017 22:14

I'm a 33 year old mum of 3 and the thought of having a whole day off to play on my ps4 sounds like heaven to me! I was the same at 18 myself :) Never harmed me.
