I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

He'll have looked at Wall St and have been in a bad mood.

Do you think melania's "when he's attacked he punches back ten times harder" is a variation of what Michele obama said, except in melania's version it goes "when they go low, we go even lower"?

cozietoesie · 29/06/2017 16:53

She's never actually issued any policy pronouncements on her prospective 'cyber bullying campaign' has she?

Lweji · 29/06/2017 16:55

"when he's attacked he punches back ten times harder"

I wonder if she also means it literally.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/06/2017 16:55

Not that I could find

cozietoesie · 29/06/2017 17:01

That's a pity, Pain. I would have been interested to read them.

On that tweet

Ms. Sanders, in an interview on Fox News, defended Mr. Trump’s tweets.

“I don’t think that the president has ever been someone who gets attacked and doesn’t push back,” she told the Fox anchor Bill Hemmer. “This is a president who fights fire with fire and certainly will not be allowed to be bullied by liberal media, and the liberal elites within the media.”

“But is that necessary?” Mr. Hemmer asked, referring to the graphic nature of Mr. Trump’s remark about Ms. Brzezinski.

“I think what’s necessary is to push back against unnecessary attacks on the president,” Ms. Sanders replied.

The graphic nature of the president’s suggestion that Ms. Brzezinski had undergone plastic surgery was met with immediate criticism on social media. Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, wrote on Twitter, “Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America.” And a spokesman for NBC News, Mark Kornblau, wrote on Twitter: “Never imagined a day when I would think to myself, ‘It is beneath my dignity to respond to the President of the United States.’ ”

Literally every sentence in that NRA video is correct. If you took that message as a call for civil war, you might have mental problems.

cozietoesie · 29/06/2017 18:10

Thank you, Pain.

lionheart · 29/06/2017 18:34

Interesting on Comey.

Thanks Pain.

GingerIvy · 29/06/2017 18:42

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but this is utterly shocking. Look at this newest NRA video released. It's basically declaring "open season" on the left.

This NRA ad is an open call to violence to protect white supremacy. If I made a video like this, I'd be in jail. pic.twitter.com/LD65yMUMVn

cozietoesie · 29/06/2017 18:48

Yep. I've seen it, Ginger.

MicrowaveSpy · 29/06/2017 18:49

As if someone who had a face lift would be out socialising whilst recovering from surgery!
He is disgusting and delusional and Melania would do well to take her husbands phone away and save us all from his 'cyber' bullying tactics.

lionheart · 29/06/2017 18:51

If you haven't seen it already, try to watch Ana Navarro on Trump's latest tweet (CNN with Wolf Blitzer). Grin

lionheart · 29/06/2017 18:52

Agreed Ginger.

GingerIvy · 29/06/2017 18:55

lionheart I'll look for it. thanks.

Oh Dear. Illinois has until tomorrow to agree a 'credible' budget.

"Illinois Republican Governor Bruce Rauner said on Thursday that if lawmakers fail to send a "balanced budget package" to his desk by Friday he will have "no choice but to keep them in session until they get the job done."

cozietoesie · 29/06/2017 19:05

For those who don't know the background, here's a CNN Money piece.

I don't think a sentence using the phrase 'clenched fist of truth' could ever be considered literally true.

Lweji · 29/06/2017 19:19

I see that you are reading the thread, ayylmaooo. Any chance of any answer to my questions?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/06/2017 19:25

Days to undo decades of mismanagement (by both parties). It's not looking good.

This was an interesting analogy about healthcare:

apnews.com/226507c991ae45fbaed33a0fb2684ee2/AP-FACT-CHECK:-Health-overhaul-a-prickly-business

WASHINGTON (AP) — The struggle over the proposed Republican health care overhaul in the Senate has covered a lot of territory, even veering into the mating habits of porcupines.

It’s a prickly situation, trying to replace the Obama-era law with something palatable to enough lawmakers, and some of what is being said in the debate just isn’t right.

A sampling of recent statements and how they stack up with the facts:

SEN. PAT ROBERTS, R-Kan., reaching for an analogy to illustrate how difficult it is to negotiate health care: “Once in Glacier National Park I saw two porcupines making love. I’m assuming they produced smaller porcupines. They produced something. It has to be done carefully. That’s what we’re doing now.”

THE FACTS: He is correct, it’s tricky, but unlike lawmakers, porcupines have their mission figured out.

Porcupine spines are an intimidating mechanism to protect the animals from predators. But when it comes time to mate, they have the ability to let down their defenses, said Duke University biologist Stuart Pimm. Courtship rituals can be aggressive but when the animals have negotiated the art of the deal, the females relax and reposition their quills.

It’s not entirely different from people, Pimm said. “We humans are quite capable of arming ourselves with the most ferocious weaponry but I don’t take my broadaxe to bed with me.”

lionheart · 29/06/2017 19:49

That's great Pain.
