For me, some of it is the late-in-life realisation that so many of these supposedly responsible people are such utter shits! The Jay Sekulow story is an Olympic Gold medal-standard example. Oh, how I'd like to wave a wand and have all of them experience being poor and afraid! (both in the USA and the UK)

There seem to be ways to speak up and apply pressure in America (although I realise it's born of necessity as the situation there is so much further down the "look after the cronies and sod everyone else" path) but I'm floundering as to what to do in the UK.

Are there any concrete actions anyone can recommend? I helped campaign locally during the elections this year but don't want to sit idly by and watch it disintegrate further into shit.

What does persisting look like though cozie? Not burying your head in the sand is part of it - and I think we bear witness pretty well to what's happening - but what comes next? What non-violent (obviously), actions can be taken to change what's happening? That's what I've been struggling with recently.

As a minimum, stay alert and involve yourself as much as circumstances permit.
