AIBU - a physical trait (of- mine) that I have always hated is now fashionable....

I have freckles, covered in the buggers. Face, arms, knees, legs - everything but my tummy. I hate them with a passion. My DF always joked that in the summer when they were at their most potent, it looked as if I had stood too close to a muddy puddle and someone had dropped a brick in it. Previous sentence is for context not father bashing. He meant it in the best possible way and in humour, I love him dearly.

I am lucky that I tan and don't burn but I do have dark hair so this may be the reason why. I feel so ugly in the summer when they come out fighting. I have good(ish) skin but I long for a clear complection and decolletage.

Anyway, I found this link before on Buzzfeed: linky

I am all for personal preference but who in their right mind would willingly get freckles?

NorthStar Glad I am not alone. There is nothing alluring about multiple moles (I have hundreds) unless you're Cindy Crawford. When I was a teenager, someone once told me my arms looked like they were infested with flies Sad

marhav999 · 19/06/2017 19:33

Love freckles.

PuffinProdr · 19/06/2017 19:46

I have quite a freckly face; I'm totally fine with it and it wasn't until my tosser of an ex said something along the lines of 'don't you mind your freckles?' that it even occurred to me they were an issue. I laughed.

I also notice that my huge arse is now in fashion. Growing up in the 90s/millennium I view as 'peak skinny' and I was constantly told I was fat. Then, Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj came wandering in from nowhere waving their giant asses around like it was a good thing, and the world apparenty agreed which took me by surprise after years of being told I was gross for the same thing....

So yeah if freckles are in too I must be very in vogue right now Grin

SasBel · 19/06/2017 20:06

I love my freckles! DH always says that they are the first sign of summer Grin

SherbrookeFosterer · 19/06/2017 20:15

I've had the same hairstyle since I was five. Sometimes I'm in fashion, sometimes I'm not.

I just wear more hats until the next time.

youarenotkiddingme · 19/06/2017 20:19

My dad always says he can see I've been sunbathing under the colander again Grin

Imbeingunreasonable · 19/06/2017 20:23

I have freckles and having spent the last week on holiday and going to the beach everyday they have all come out to play.

I love my freckles, I have dark hair and medium skin. I never wear foundation as I love the natural look and like them to show through even in winter.

Embrace them OP, it's the best way Smile

Fishwiife · 19/06/2017 20:24

I have a lot of freckles on my body....always found boyfriends generally obsessed with them!

Madbum · 19/06/2017 20:28

I'm getting more freckles as I get older my only gripe is that they make me look like I've got a moustache in photographs! 😳

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 19/06/2017 20:45

Love mine, even though I have about 6 on my nose so close together that when I tan they turn into one big blob and I look like I have a dirt smudge Grin

daydreambeliever21 · 19/06/2017 20:52

I loved my freckles and they definitely make you look years younger. Sadly mine started to fade a few years ago (I'm 44) and I was gutted and miss them madly. I still have some in the summer, but much fainter these days.

LittleBeautyBelle · 19/06/2017 20:52

My son has a face full of freckles especially in the summertime. They stand out so much, he's adorable. I call them cutie spots. Think of the beautiful actresses with freckles, Nicole something or other, and Gwyneth Paltrow (yes, she's annoying but still).

NeverNic · 19/06/2017 20:55

Gah, I hate mine. I look like I've been sunbathing under a sieve! Like you though , I have dark hair and tan (albeit half the speed of most 'tanners'), but I wish for a clear face. I would love to know what I would look like without them. I mean I could plaster make up on, but that's not my skin. Fancy being brown, not splodgy. I can but dream..,,

NeverNic · 19/06/2017 20:56

Hah - you'renotkiddingme. Sorry hadn't read the full thread. Glad someone else is on my wavelength!

puddleduckmummy · 19/06/2017 21:05

Despise mine, always have, always will. I am covered, head to toe everywhere, even my ears and I hate them. People comment when it's sunny, 'oooh look at your freckles can tell you've been in the sun'. Well yes, sometimes it is unavoidable. They can be cute when they are tiny and just smattered over the nose area (my sons are coming out like this and I hope for his sake they stay like that) but no mine are huge and everywhere. Made me feel ugly as a child. I've made my peace with them now (no really i have!!) just don't like people to comment on them 😂

falange · 19/06/2017 21:09

I love freckles. So pretty. I had them when I was young but they sadly disappeared. Embrace them.

grannytomine · 19/06/2017 21:23

I got upset about my freckles when I started school, I can't remember but assume I got teased. My dad told me they were jealous, the freckles are the marks left when the angels kiss you and I have obviously been kissed by alot of angels. Freckles never worried me after that.

Glymbo · 19/06/2017 21:24

I'm 63 a redhead and am still covered in freckles. I was called all sorts when younger gingernut, coconut, mudsplash and many other names, never bothered me although today would be described as bullying, phfttttt rubbish. People always ask if I've been abroad I say no just my freckles have all joined up. My hubby is covered too but has dark (well grey now) hair. Both son's are dark haired but also covered, grandson has a smattering across his nose, cute.
Op embrace what you have, I bet you are beautiful. :o)

JDEE72 · 19/06/2017 21:34

I love my freckles! I was covered in them as a kid. Never bothered me. I hope you grow to love them.

fedupandsickofeverything · 19/06/2017 22:01

Dm was covered in freckles, all over. It was a family joke that she only got a tan because her freckles joined up!

Memphisbelly · 19/06/2017 22:20

I hate my freckles and always have, I had a tattoo on my arm to try and take away from them, got married in spring so they would be at their faintest, they really get me down, 31 degrees today and I had long sleeves on, I now have freckles on my knees too.
I looked into getting them lasered off but its too big a task. Once as a child I covered my whole face in my mums concealer.
I find this trend so odd. Saying all of the above my DS has a few on his nose and they are so lovely!

UterusUterusGhali · 19/06/2017 22:29

Freckles are beautiful!

The tattooed ones look weird, mind.

I call DS's his "kissy spots", because it's to show him where I should kiss him. Grin

dudsville · 19/06/2017 22:31

I have freckles but have forgotten about them and no longer see them. I must look tomorrow!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/06/2017 22:36

DH is really freckly, all over his body. I tease him about it gently but I really like it. He also has ginger facial hair but really dark brown hair on his head, it's as though his genes couldn't decide which way to go. I think it looks sweet.

ThreeForAPound · 19/06/2017 22:39

I LOVE freckles. They're adorable. I get a sprinkling on my nose in hot weather, even with factor 50 and a sunhat. Sun just has to look at me and they appear. I'm a a fair skinned brunette and think they're lovely Grin.

I adore really freckly gingers....gorgeous Grin
