AIBU?

AIBU - a physical trait (of- mine) that I have always hated is now fashionable....

I have freckles, covered in the buggers. Face, arms, knees, legs - everything but my tummy. I hate them with a passion. My DF always joked that in the summer when they were at their most potent, it looked as if I had stood too close to a muddy puddle and someone had dropped a brick in it. Previous sentence is for context not father bashing. He meant it in the best possible way and in humour, I love him dearly.

I am lucky that I tan and don't burn but I do have dark hair so this may be the reason why. I feel so ugly in the summer when they come out fighting. I have good(ish) skin but I long for a clear complection and decolletage.

Anyway, I found this link before on Buzzfeed: linky

I am all for personal preference but who in their right mind would willingly get freckles?

I have freckles everywhere too and I have dark red curly hair. I hated both as a child now I love my freckles and when I look at both ds who both look so much like me I can see I was cute as a child too with my freckles.

Aww freckle love central. I wasn't posting originally for self gratification but I have found a kindred spirit in all you freckle lovers. :-)

I love freckles.

By chance I recently saw an article about a girl who had a freckles removed, she looked much prettier with them.

I have freckles, light ones all over my face & darker on my shoulders & arms. Never thought much about them. However sometimes I wish I had that skin (I call it plastic skin) that tans beautifully, is super smooth & blemish free, no freckles, moles, veins, scars etc. It's quite rare though & more common on children.

badonkydonk freckles are beautiful and amazing. My dd has them and I love them.

Your dad's comment is cruel and unnecesary. As much as yuo love him he was unnecessarily parroting the attitudes of his time, that freckles were not attractive. He was wrong.

Learn to love them, because they are lovely. Totally agree with newnoo "Always ask where your judgements about yourself come from...

Usually they won't have come from you originally."

As far as having them tattooed on my face, I expect they could make some people look more attractive, but you would not be sure until it was done, and then too late if they didn't!

I felt exactly the same when I read that article, op! Utterly bizarre to me why anyone would choose to tattoo freckles to their faces, especially since I spent years hiding all summer to avoid them. My partner calls it 'adorable' when I have a breakout. I'm not an 'adorable' person Angry.

I have freckles, and always hated them. Put sun cream and foundation on my face to hide them. They are all over my shoulders and arms too.

I think I'll embrace them now Grin After years of blocking the sun from my face, they are very, very faint now. So, do I get my face out in the sun and watch those freckles develop - or will the sun give me wrinkles too? Oooh decisions.

I love my freckles,I've always thought they make skin look healthy especially in the summer.

But those fake freckles look bloody awful!

badonkydonk "newnoo I wasn't expecting so many responses but after having a think, it has probably stemmed from primary school. Nothing awful just little jabs from small kids who were just speaking their minds. I had no comments at high school that made me feel bad.

I suppose they make me, me really."

just little jabs from small kids who were just speaking their minds. They were most likely not speaking their minds at all, but repeating the prejudiced of their parents. The same prejudice that would hate curly hair, or ginger hair or black skin. All very sad and petty and dangerous.

Stop, and make an effort to cleanse your mind of the prejudice of the past, learn to love yourself. Take a leaf from Pippy Longstocking! Thank you MaisieDotes.

I love Ed Sheeran, think he is so sexy.

on Ed

One day the received views of what makes some of us beautiful and some of us more beautiful will melt - and we will be able to see ourselves as we really are. All more beautiful.

I loooove my freckles. I've developed new ones so far this summer, including several on my feet which have never freckled before! Plus lots more freckling on my arms. I'd love a few more on my cheeks.

DD has the sweetest sprinkling of freckles across her nose, it's absolutely adorable.

Freckles rock.

The only reason I didn't like them when I was younger was because I was a teen in the 80's and I wanted that smooth alabaster skin like Marilyn Monroe and Madonna.

I actually think they have come into fashion (doesn't everything, eventually?)

Oh, btw, it's not just freckles that run in our family, it's gaps in the front teeth too! We're either hopeless or totally on trend!

I love the smattering that DS has across his nose. I'm not sure I would want to be covered in them, personally. But they look youthful and sweet. My aunt called them fairy kisses!

There was once a lovely song in German.
ich bin ja so verschossen in deine sommersprossen

It means I love your freckles. And that's from 1981!

Rufus I was about to say the same thing. I have hundreds (possibly thousands) of moles. Never heard anyone say "wow, I wish I had moles all over my face like her" and I doubt I ever will. Would love to swap them all for freckles!

I have freckles and love them.

When I was a child they used to fuse together and I looked tanned. It was the only way I could ever manage to get a tan actually.

The freckle tattoos are really odd looking.

For my whole life my nose used to be covered with freckles but the bastards have recently disappeared. I loved my freckles and really really miss them. Embrace your freckely appearance. I envy you.

Hi OP I'm freckly too but love them!

Seen a few make up tutorials on YouTube ending with some fake freckles added with an eyebrow pencil at the end, loads of dots across the nose and cheeks to a 'youthful look'. Seriously.

Will find an example...

There's nothing wrong worn freckles, just like there's nothing wrong with ginger hair, but both are uncommon and kids will bully anyone who stands out.
