AIBU - a physical trait (of- mine) that I have always hated is now fashionable....

I have freckles, covered in the buggers. Face, arms, knees, legs - everything but my tummy. I hate them with a passion. My DF always joked that in the summer when they were at their most potent, it looked as if I had stood too close to a muddy puddle and someone had dropped a brick in it. Previous sentence is for context not father bashing. He meant it in the best possible way and in humour, I love him dearly.

I am lucky that I tan and don't burn but I do have dark hair so this may be the reason why. I feel so ugly in the summer when they come out fighting. I have good(ish) skin but I long for a clear complection and decolletage.

Anyway, I found this link before on Buzzfeed: linky

I am all for personal preference but who in their right mind would willingly get freckles?

Loving the freckle love!

I suppose they do make me a bit unique but I guess we always want rid of something we have and want something we cant have. It's the whole curly hair, straight hair debate.

Calyrical I do try to but Estee Lauder double wear is the only one that seems to cover. I don't wear it much but the last time I did, my DH asked if I was auditioning for the Phantom of the Opera as I looked so different (he's not a big fan of makeup tbh). If I did go the whole hog, my arms, hands (basically everything visible on my body would also need covering)

Yes user, we thought that my mixed race DSDs skin tone being darker meant that they weren't showing so now she actually seeks pics of out other mixed race girls with freckles to highlight the unfairness of the situation! I didn't realise this was now a 'fashion' thing now though as OP shows.

NeverTwerkNaked · 18/06/2017 18:37

I always wanted to have freckles, I think they look lovely.
Not sure I would take the step of tattooing them though Grin

Calyrical · 18/06/2017 18:38

That's tricky. It seems other people like them though. I sort of agree with you, though. And I do think they can start looking a bit strange after a certain age!

It's really sad when women dislike our features.

Self love OP!

ASDismynormality · 18/06/2017 18:39

Natural freckles are really lovely, tatooted freckles look pretty bad!

RaskolnikovsGarret · 18/06/2017 18:39

I never knew we were meant to dislike freckles! I have never met a freckled person who was less than attractive I think. If I was to think anything about then, I would probably have said they were 'cool' (don't know why). So please embrace your freckles, those lucky enough to have them!

QueenofLouisiana · 18/06/2017 18:40

I don't like mine either- although my nana always called them sun-kisses to try to change my mind.

I'm 41 now, so I don't think they are likely to go anywhere now.

harderandharder2breathe · 18/06/2017 18:41

Freckles are lovely!

Getting tattooed freckles is weird imo, the ones in the link certainly don't look natural which (apart from the rainbow ones Confused) is surely the point?

RaskolnikovsGarret · 18/06/2017 18:41

But I wouldn't have them tattooed on though! Those look weird.

NeverTwerkNaked · 18/06/2017 18:42

Just read the link. Most of those freckles look terribly fake! the girl with natural freckles looks lovely though!

I quite like the idea of the rainbow freckles Grin

newnoo I wasn't expecting so many responses but after having a think, it has probably stemmed from primary school. Nothing awful just little jabs from small kids who were just speaking their minds. I had no comments at high school that made me feel bad.

I suppose they make me, me really.

I have freckles and I've learned to love them Smile

When I was a teenager I spent a fortune on a product called Fade Out to bleach my freckles away. It worked a treat but I then spent the next 20 years avoiding getting sun on my face!

I have a light tan now with a nice sprinkling of freckles thanks to this weather!

OftheUppahUplands · 18/06/2017 18:44

Freckles are lovely, I can't see mine now I have rosacea but loved them dearly.

Tattooed Ines seem odd to me, but that's people generally - if we have it we don't want it and vice versa!

user1495484765 · 18/06/2017 18:47

I used to have freckles across my nose and at the tops of my shoulders. I don't have them now. I miss them. Not sure why they went - early 20s. I love freckles, just the word is lovely. Embrace those magical speckles.

MaisieDotes · 18/06/2017 18:47

I love this passage from Pippi Longstocking:

"The children came to a perfume shop. In the show window was a large jar of freckle salve, and beside the jar was a sign, which read: DO YOU SUFFER FROM FRECKLES?

‘What does the sign say?’ asked Pippi. She couldn’t read very well because she didn’t want to go to school as other children did.

It says, ‘Do you suffer from freckles?’ said Annika.

‘Does it indeed?’ said Pippi thoughtfully. ‘Well, a civil question deserves a civil answer. Let’s go in.’

She opened the door and entered the shop, closely followed by Tommy and Annika. An elderly lady stood back of the counter. Pippi went right up to her. ‘No!’ she said decidedly.

‘What is it you want?’ asked the lady.

‘No,’ said Pippi once more.

‘I don’t understand what you mean,’ said the lady.

‘No, I don’t suffer from freckles,’ said Pippi.

Then the lady understood, but she took one look at Pippi and burst out, ‘But, my dear child, your whole face is covered with freckles!’

‘I know that,’ said Pippi, ‘but I don’t suffer from them. I love them. Good morning.’

She turned to leave, but when she got to the door she looked back and cried, ‘But if you should happen to get in any salve that gives people more freckles, then you can send me seven or eight jars.’"

I love when my freckles show up in the summer, i get absolutely covered on my face and arms. Lips, eyelids, cheeks, everywhere. My skin looks so much nicer with freckles.

Those tattoos look hellish though, like enormous blackheads.

CaptainBraandPants · 18/06/2017 18:57

I think I was well into adulthood before I realised that I wasn't supposed to like my freckles. Confused
We are a very freckly family; in fact, I was known as the lesser - freckled Pants by one teacher. Grin
I don't know whether to be sad or bemused that someone should not like something so banal.
BTW, those tattooed ones are dreadful.

winewolfhowls · 18/06/2017 18:59

I love my freckles. Hid the spots when I was a teen

Rufus27 · 18/06/2017 18:59

OP I'd happily swap your freckles for my hideous moles (millions of the buggers, everywhere). Freckles are freindly and welcoming, whilst moles are, well, moles. Grin

jeanne16 · 18/06/2017 19:00

I have lots of freckles too and hated them as a child, teenager and young adult. I would have loved to be able to lie in the sun and get a golden tan. I was also teased quite a lot as a child. I am reconciled to them now but it has had a massive effect on my life.

sonlypuppyfat · 18/06/2017 19:02

I think the most perfect beautiful look on men is strawberry blonde hair. White eyelashes and lots of freckles
